This is an excellent video, especially for beginners. Invest in the proper tools and you will have a much easier time creating beautiful card projects. I could not get along without my Misti.

Part of the reason it took me, oh… about 15 years to start trying stamping again after many disastrous efforts in the early 2000s, once I learned about the MISTI and the Embossing Magic, it was one of those, "Ohhhhh, that's why my stamping sucked!" moments. Life changing for crafters! Great tips!

Agree! Before Misti, we've threw away so many card stock and papers! lol I do have a stamp positioner but this is much easier to use.

Two other tips that come to mind from what you did here. 1. If you use a sand eraser when you're painting with watercolors, keep in mind that the abraded paper where you used it will react differently with the paint. Depending on how much you sand it, it will likely absorb more of the paint, and give you a darker spot of color. 2. For stamping fine-line greetings like you showed in your embossing example, don't mash the block or the lid of your stamping tool. Just apply gentle pressure or a light tapping motion. Otherwise, you will end up with distorted letters. Same goes for detailed images. Thanks for sharing these tips, Nina. Take care, & have a great day! :)

Thanks for sharing! Another tip: fold card stock towards the mountain and away from the valley. The bone folder used for scoring is pre-stretching your card stock so there is less cracking and more of a smooth fold. However, many people fold the wrong direction after scoring. When holding the scored card stock, face the “valley” towards you and fold away or over the “mountain” created on the other side. If you fold over the valley you’ve just erased the softened stretch from the bone folder.

Another tip, using a silpat mat to blend on nearly eliminates the need to touch your paper. It holds it in place great. I only have to touch the paper if im inking just the actual edges

I think the only thing I would add to this list is a glue eraser! Essential in my opinion. 😊

I love these tips and tricks. Although I love my stamp postponing tool, I noticed you only stamped using the block once and using the Misti, you stamped 3x for the crisp look. I wonder if stamping with the block 3x or a comparison of stamping once with each tool would make a difference. Just for a fair comparison. Thank you for the video.

Unless you use something like a Stamp-a-Ma-Jig, it's very hard to get fine-lined stamps like she used lined up perfectly using a block. Even with that tool, if it slips just a millimeter, you can tell. Otherwise, you could get a better stamped image with a block by repeat stamping. :)

You don't need an expensive teflon bone folder. Just put a piece of copy paper over the paper you're scoring, and you won't get the shine. I never get a shine with my regular bone folder, though.

Does anyone know of an alternative to the sand eraser? They have latex in them & i cant find another one.
@andrealavigne78245 жыл бұрын
I don't know if they have latex, but you might try a sanding block. It's a cushiony block that has a gritty surface on all 4 long sides. The only drawback I've found is, since you usually use the end of the block to get into tighter areas, the grit in the middle goes to waste. So I cut mine into shorter sections so I can use more of the block. (Hope that makes sense!) You can find them at Simon: www.simonsaysstamp.com/product/Paper-Artsy-SANDING-BLOCKS-Set-of-5-01175-01175PA, & they're fairly inexpensive. Hope this helps! :)

Andrea La Vigne hmm fascinating, that must be what you use for bazzil paper that says you can sand it. I nvr really understood. Thanks so much

Prefer any other stamping tool to misti due to her trying to sue any one who makes any others even if totally different
@susanmyrick29135 жыл бұрын
madusonkeeper just think about the huge investment of time, ingenuity, and money the first of anything requires. Should a 'copycat' be allowed to profit from that? That is why there are patents and laws that govern them.
@susandzama30005 жыл бұрын
Patent laws are there for the protection of the patent. She had every legal right to protect her property. Example : your husband just came up with a new patent for a twist tie. Three people see it and copy it. Every person that buy the copy is literally stealing from your husband and taking food off your table and from your kids. If you want to make a better product go for it! But don't steal from some one else to do it. I have 3 positioner. One misti and two others , but I wouldn't buy from a thief , the other two are not guilty of stealing. I was taught that was just wrong. Sorry you think that is ok, I don't .
