Couple things I do... 1) Stand in front of the tree when you shake it (your character will always turn to face the wasp, then bam! Got em. 2) I dig holes to hit rocks (easier than placing things or carrying excess items to place). 3) I always carry a workbench, storage shed, and trash can (for if you have a TON of flowers to dig up and don't care much about selling).

Also it's been confirmed that digging holes doesn't use shovel durability when it's just empty land. Shovel durability is only used when you're digging up an item or planting/burying an item. You can dig endless holes with a shovel and it will not break. (Test it with a flimsy one if you want - they have 10 uses normally.)

I always use holes to make blockades for rocks~ I can easily remove them, so if I have a plan that doesn't need trees or items there, I can just use holes. Plus it's less time consuming. Also for time tracing, you can just go to save and quit and while it still says "the game has been saved" you can do that stuff and come back.

Yeah holes are much more convenient, you already have your shovel after all. Placing items is only worth it if you plan to leave them there long-term.

@@Smile936 Yes! Also it doesn't use shovel durability! Shovels only break if you're digging up an item or burying/planting something. They also don't break during timed events including while hitting a rock (there's a hidden timer) or during the bug-off or fishing tourney timers.

Love the tip to plan everything out with custom designs first, both for buildings and for rock blockades - smart to put them around the rock to make sure you’re not blocking one of your resource spots. Will be fixing that on my island tonight. 😂❤️

You can change the date and time between the save and title screen as well. When you get the bubble saying save is complete, see you later, don't hit A and then do the change and go back in. When you hit A, the title screen will load to the new day

I don't think it's possible for your shovel to break in the middle of getting resources from a rock. I might be wrong, but I'm 99% sure that even if your shovel is at zero durability, it won't break if hitting a rock grants a crafting material.

I'll add the extra 1% to get to 100% sure. Same with any timed events. Your fishing rod & bug net are also granted 'invincibility' while playing the timed tournaments.

This has been confirmed either by Nintendo or game data - I forget which. They cannot break in the middle of hitting a rock or during the bug-off/fishing tourney. I really wish people would fact check things like this before putting them in a video because it's causing people to be scared of something happening that cannot happen to begin with.

I'm curious how people are saying it won't break. This has happened to me many times. Idk it happened to me just like the video says. It will break, and then I lose the rest of the resources from my rock.

It's true for me as well. Using my rock garden, no matter how many times I hit rocks and get materials, as long as I don't miss the rock or hit it when its already empty, the shovel is granted "invincibility" as it will still drain durability, but won't break as long as you used it to get materials out of a rock. I've never had a shovel break on me while im getting the 8 materials out of it.

Also, you should shake your trees daily because you get bells from them and furniture items from them. There are only 5 wasp nests in your trees daily and 2 furniture/decorative items.

I always make sure I have 17 shakeable trees - which are always cedar; I get rid of my oaks. That way, I'm guaranteed 10 100-bell coins, two items and five wasps.

For the rock blockades for the rocks, something ive done since NL, I always dig a hole instead of actually objects. It does take up tool durability and takes time to fill the hole back up, but it works if you dont want anything near your rocks 24/7

When you shake trees, shake in the front because then you can just immediately press to catch the wasps. No training needed. Just insta catch cause it’s right there. If you do it from the side, it’s harder to master

when you are worried about breaking your shovel mid-hit, the shovel won't break while your'e in the middle of what i call a 'streak' where the rock potentially holds up to 8 materials for a small amount of time. as soon as the streak is over, your durability is affected again.

I love the rock thing! I've tried digging holes and using them as a blockade, but I still only get 4 to 6 things, because I drift while striking the rock (I must be digging the hole in the wrong spots 😕). I'll definitely have to try the custom design trick.

I love the tips about the turnips and the placing of the villagers homes using the grids very clever. I've started to move my presidents homes because I'm just about to unlock the future from my happy homes Paradise and finally be able to customize my villagers homes! Any tips or things that I should know or do? Ideas? Also I run into a problem at the beginning of my game I had no idea that an entrance to the island was something that you should do I placed my stores in front of my airport and now I'm stuck with them there because I cannot figure out where I would want to put them and move on from having them there I do want to move them can you give me some ideas on some easy entrance beginners? I'm actually pretty sure shovel's can't break during a hitting session. At least to my knowledge, that's a failsafe Nintendo put in. They always break after, not during.

I can confirm they do/can in fact break while hitting rocks. Unfortunately it happens to me all to often (which is why I now carry customization kits with me - if you recolor any tools it is automatically reset as "new").
