If you ask me, the biggest issue will be when the Pokedex gets so large that catching them all will be too big of a task, especially if they continue trying to make all mons available within a generation. As far as character customization goes, I think that with remakes, it makes sense to not have customization just because gens 1-5 have protagonists with set designs. In gens 6 and 7, we dont really have that. Especially because in gen 6, Serena customizes her appearance in the anime and in gen 7, you dont see either of the protagonists in the anime. So I think gen 4 and 5 remakes wont have customization, but gen 8 (and future gens) as well as gen 6 and 7 remakes will.

Totally agreed. The biggest burden of Pokemon is the sheer number of 'mons. They've made 800 of them, and the franchise is not ending anytime soon. The burden is not even necessarily on the players. With the 3ds games they had to make 3d models for every Pokemon. That's a huge job, and again, there's only gonna be more in the future. And with new games they continue to add new gimmicks (contests, etc.), moves, types, items, balance changes, etc. This all becomes tremendously complex the longer you do it. Other JRPGs break serialization so that characters and concepts from old games don't necessarily have to be in new games; each games stands on its own. Pokemon doesn't have that luxury (at least to that degree), and so it just continues getting more and more cumbersome, especially for new players. Other franchises can reboot. But how do you just throw away hundreds of Pokemon designs, but keep others? They can't do it. They have to keep them in. Looking forward to 2040 when there's 2000 Pokemon!

Nice idea. I don't think that will work since Ash (Satoshi) will most likely always be the main character in the anime. Besides that if that were to happen (which appears to be rare) it would be of the "family" lab, fine for a remake, not so much for a new gen. Remember Prof. Ivy? That's the solution right there. Here name is based off of the Ivy, it happens to grow around an oak tree, but it's a start. So posinous plants and vines are in. Or atleast plants and vines that grow near or on trees. Prof. Redmoss sounds pretty cool.

What would be awesome is if prof dragon blood would give you your starter, and when you get far enough, he would recruit you into a squad that catches powerful pokemon, that happens to be the villainous team, that you don't realise that it is that, and he would be the final boss. Game Freak: make prof dragon blood and platypus stater happen, but I could live without the platypus stater.

1. Leaks are not that important, in any case it robs the publisher the surprise factor, but that's not a real problem. 2. You put the chinese zodiac as a problem to arrive at the conclusion that is not really a problem. 3. GF will decide which games to remake and they will not run out of games to remake. 4. There is a ton of trees and they only have used 8 names. Even is they run out they can opt to name them with other languages names. 5. If there is a game, there is expectations, they are a normal part of almost any game release.
