Bought ATH-M50X to replace my ATH-M40X. After a back and forth comparison, I'm keeping the M40X. Seriously, the extra bass isn't worth it if it sounds like it's drowning out the upper frequencies. Think to note is that I have bigger aftermarket Geekria QuickFit Replacement Ear Pads on the M40X, which might make the difference. Will have to see if the M50X benefit from those as well and change things.

Hola amigo, saludos!

I have 990 pros. A heads up for anyone looking at those you CANNOT detatch the aux. If you bend the aux tip due to a device falling on it (something ive ruined two of these over when the coiled cable unexpectedly pulled my iPad off the counter and crushed the aux) or anything like that it is RUINED. Also the muffs get SUPER FLAT over the course of a year. And you cant poof them out again you can only get replacements. So do yourself a service and get somthing that isnt ruined when the cable goes out and with muffs that don't look like a 10 year old rug after one year.

What interface do you use? If you run a universal audio interface for example, no other amp is required…:)
@CelestialMelody2 жыл бұрын
You need a Dynamic Range for the Headphones on your Audio Interface of around 110Db or more to get full range out of it, having it around there means that it will be almost able to push the DT 1770 Pro to the max it can give (self destruction point), as for what you hear you will be able to hear it at very high volumes (almost unbearable or unbearable to listen to)~ This is to keep it simple, it's generally a good way to go around it because if you go into details your head will hurt due to the math required~ If you take an Audio Interface that has a higher Dynamic Range than this then do not turn the knob to the max, even if you never should do that on any device~ Alternatively buy a Headphone Amplifier, but then you will probably need to invest into one that is made very well and tested, there are some that have false advertisements~ The max or around the max (wouldn't ruin one to test it) that the DT 1770 Pro can handle should be: 3,97 Vrms, 15,88mA and 63,04mW; in case you need the specs to know what capabilities your Audio Interface or Headphone Amplifier needs to have~ Hope it helps you, or anyone needing this information~

I have the Bayer dynamics headphones,and I can say it's not good for mixing. After having many bad mixes, I decided to buy a different headphone and I realized the problems with the Bayer headphones. 1. You dont hear the details of the instruments and vocals so you might be raising the volume of certain elements in the mix and destroying the whole mix. 2. It's not true(flat) like most KZbinrs claim it is. It is better to use headphones that makes you hear every element in ur mix, so you can make better decisions and still sound good on every other devices. I use a cheaper and more effective headphones now. My mix sounds good now.

I was actually disappointed with them as many reviews on KZbin hale them as the best pair for under 200. I am a somewhat new producer still, I am currently looking at the Sony XM4's as I wouldn't mind having a pair I can use for Production as well as recreationally. Any recommends or thoughts?

I highly doubt that you have done these tests yourself. I experienced the 770 pro at 80 ohms from Beyerdynamic for 15 days, it is not super comfortable, it is even a little warm and after 10 minutes you already have the sensation of a certain compression ( even if it is still comfortable), in particular BECAUSE, in the case of the 770, it is a CLOSED helmet, with therefore a feeling of confinement greater than that of an OPEN helmet (for example if it is compare to the Beyerdynamic 990 pro). I'm not the only one to say this, many testers on KZbin have also noted this point. You also say that the Beyerdynamic 900 pro X is probably the most comfortable of all the helmets designed by this company (!), while it is common to hear (with a few rare exceptions) that the 900 pro X has precisely the defect of having a higher tightening than other models of the same brand.

@EdwardSmithMusic2 жыл бұрын
For me, they are the best… not sure compared to the wh-1000xm4
@wilsonchen45332 жыл бұрын
What you're saying is more of an apples and oranges comparison. The DT 1770 is designed for mixing (I recommend the 1990 over the 1770 if the purpose is to use it as a mixing headphone, and FYI open backs are better when compared with closed back headphones when the purpose is music production) while the XM4's are designed to be consumer grade headphones. Again it depends on what you want to use it for. For example if you would want to rock with a punchy bass and clear highs with vocals up in front and be on the go with noise all around you then yea the XM4 is definitely your choice because it has noise cancelling and playing music through it just sounds hyped up and energetic, due to its EQ presets, as well as being Bluetooth. However on the other hand if you were to want to sit down in a quiet room to mix a song and you need something that as flat as it can be then the 1770 or 1990 is the way to go (Trust me the XM4s are never going to be flatter than the DTs even with its EQ settings) . If you want a better soundstage than 1990 would be for you but the 1770 would be for you if you intend to listen in a more noisy environment or listen on the go (aka subway, car, train, or just walking outside). The 1770 and 1990 does NOT have Bluetooth so keep that in mind if you're choosing between the XM4 and the DTs. Again, this is an apples and oranges comparison, the two headphones are meant for totally different people and with totally different usage, so it really depends on what you want to use it for.

@wilsonchen45332 жыл бұрын
@@KnightTwilightV Depends on the type of sound you're going for. If you're looking for a wider soundstage, openbacks will always win. But if you're looking for a more "punchy" bass, then go with the closedback. The 1770 and 1990 are generally regarded as less harsh compared to the 770 and 990, so you should feel an improvement (I don't own a 770/990 but from pretty much everyone I've ever heard from, they agree that the 1770/1990 is a lot less harsh). Great video! Question: I have to get decent headphones but started out making some simple techno music. Do you recommend buying an audio interface immediately for beginners like me, or just plugging the headphones into the laptop? Thank you!!
@hakuykuykuy71252 жыл бұрын
Just plug your headphone to ur laptop bro
@8curred722 жыл бұрын
Well only if you're having very hard latency issues or want to plugin a device that requires a preamp such as a guitar or a mic. If you get one make sure it has phantom power and direct monitoring as these two are the major reasons for buying an audio interface.

Thanks for the video Edward! Do the Beyerdynamic headphones touch your ears when you wear them or do they actually fit all the way around your ears? I’m looking for a pair that I can wear for many hours without any discomfort. 🙏🏻
@wilsonchen45332 жыл бұрын
They fit complete around your ears (at least for my 900 Pro X). It is quite comfortable for long period work sessions as the padding is quite comfortable. I would recommend the open back versions compared with the closed back, open backs are just more suited for music production as the soundstage is much wider. Also if you are looking into the Beyerdynamics make sure to consider the impedance of the headphones (AKA the ohms). If you get the wrong version (say the 250 ohm version) your phone or computer might not be able to drive it properly.

If you can see this message since you asked a month ago, the Beyerdynamics DT900 Pro X (which is what I own) is better in comfort compared with the XM4s as it is much much much more comfortable to wear in my personal experience as the DT covers your entire ear and does not press onto your ears while the XM4s do. The sound quality is much flatter compared with the XM4s as it is designed for a studio environment. If you want a hyped listening experience, the go for the XM4. If you want a studio listening exprience, go for the Beyerdyanamics. It really depends on what YOU want to do with the pair of headphones you'll buy. Honestly, I think if you want just a great listening exprience when your out and about doing things then go for the XM4s; however, if you are willingly to sit down in a quiet place and critically listen to music or make music, then the Beyerdyanamics is the way to go. This is what I posted to someone else and you may find it helpful. They were asking about the sound quality of the Beyerdynamics VS the XM4s: "What you're saying is more of an apples and oranges comparison. Again, this is an apples and oranges comparison, the two headphones are meant for totally different people and with totally different usage, so it really depends on what you want to use it for."

I have the M50X headphones and that's why I'm looking around for replacements. I record vocals on them, then do a quick bit of mixing & mastering to a backing track through them, but every single time without fail I think I'm happy with the sound... only to play the mix on literally any other audio source and it sounds completely outrageously awful. Long story short the vocal ends up roughly 2x louder on other audio devices than it is through the M50X's, it seems to boost the lows too much which dampens the mids to highs, leaving you with an unusable mix. To me this makes these totally unusable for music production.
@tokyomasquer Жыл бұрын
Yes, the lows are emphasized on the M50X, and other Audio-Technica models, as they are headphones designed for Deejays, very unfit for mixing and mastering. Any Beyerdynamic will serve you better.

I got the DT 770 pro, 80 ohm and I hate them. With these headphones I put way too much high frequency in my mix. I am using the sennheiser hd 280 pro with 64 ohm for 10 years now but I need better open headphones for mixing and mastering. Somebody here can help me? Thank you.

Hello, I am using Akg headphones while i am recording and mixing after that when i listen from my computer or phone the sound is not the same with headphones.Like not only eq, compressor vs. Every little detail like panning, or just the level of sound is a mess and different from headphones. How can i fix this ? Please help.Thank you 🙏
@wilsonchen45332 жыл бұрын
That is what mastering is for! It is there to make sure your song will feel the same regardless of where its played (and other just as important things of course). There is no real solution to this expect to mix on multiple different mediums and find a balance between all of them. My recommendation would be to find a trusty pair of either headphones or studio monitors and start from there. Make sure to know your equipment itself well. Best of luck!

you just have to look at the impedance, the newer pro-x versions work well on anything.
