I see Anchor Bay was really on fire in 1996 with NOES and the 1997 VHS with the crystal ball of Halloween. How cool they were

Anchor Bay was indeed the coolest for horror and cult fans. I wish they were still around, but they got pretty much absorbed by Starz, which in turn was bought by Lionsgate. Alot of the films they licensed went to Scream Factory.

@@jessemoore7081 Yes. What a mess with Starz... I think Anchor Bay had a cool balance between niché movies and the effort of arriving to a general audience... something that is missed with Severin and Vinegar and other labels.

I've never seen these cool Elm street pieces!! I remember this guy having the VHS 📼 with the 2 tapes at a flea market I went to back in 2010!! He had $10 on it and I remember probably going there a handful of times and I always thought of offering him something and then I started having more health issues and couldn't get out much but I wonder if he ever sold it or if he's still around. He had the Freddy figure that talked and his prices were really good but this was 13 to 14 years ago.

Love the neca Freddy worm, I have it displayed also. That same accessory set came with the Freddy tv set that can hang on a wall, which i also did! It was a great set! Definitely wanna grab the pizza at some point. Thanks for sharing G 🤘🏻

I've got the Maxx FX set too. Awesome, isn't it? Matchbox rushed an 18-inch talking Freddy doll (which I also have) into production before that, stirring up a storm of controversy from religious and parental watchdog groups. The talking Freddy was quickly yanked off store shelves and essentially killed the rest of the Maxx FX line pictured on the back of the box.

Here's my long-winded answer to some of the questions posed about the Elm St. limited edition: Video Treasures was the successor label to the old Media Home Entertainment, who in the early 90's began re-releasing budget versions of the properties that Media had distribution rights to, mainly New Line Cinema and Cannon Films, along with John Carpenter's Halloween and some of the better Troma Team titles. Sometime later Video Treasures and Starmaker Entertainment, who controled the New World Pictures catalog, were aquired by a holding company that launched Anchor Bay around their aquisitions. With the distribution set to revert back to the production companies from Media, they partnered with Elite Entertainment to do a few deluxe collector's editions on Laserdisc and VHS of some of the most popular titles. A few other special edition tapes they put out from the Media library were Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, The Hidden and the authorized Night Of The Living Dead. This one and The Hidden were limited editions. To answer one more question, YES there is a one alternate ending on the tape, that isn't in the DVD or Blu-Ray special features.

I will forever kick myself for selling that vhs of Nightmare 1 off long ago. I bought that big DVD boxset that was the holy grail to me, so i thought "i didn't need the vhs". But that vhs is a huge regret.

I sold 80% of my vhs collection in 08. One of the biggest regrets ever.

@Born2BeRad We just never get that mindset of sentimentality until it's gone. Hell, I went to Raynham Flea Market, and some guy was selling The Howling on vhs, it was a first issue. I bought it for 10 bucks. It played like a champ. Thing is, I have the spiffy SF 4K of it. That didn't matter in the slightest. Vhs was my intro to that classic as a kid. Image quality is great, but a movie that's great will shine regardless of the format.
