A well rounded approach is definitely the way to be proficient in self defense. This is a good video to get that point across and remind us about proper range for different techniques and disciplines. Thanks for another great lesson Kevin! 🙏

You could break up grappling into clinching and wrestling as well. Clinching being stand up grappling and wrestling being on the ground. You should have a game plan for each area. If you don't like the ground clinching can keep you on your feet but you should have enough wrestling to get back to your feet if you don't want to be there. I personally like hema for weapons, muay thai for strinking and clinching, and judo for clinching and wrestling. With the occasional mma class to remind me the turtling in judo is a terrible tactic when strikes are involved.

Hook punch is the most powerful punch. That's in very close. I had 1 punch knock outs with lead hook punches.

I believe that Wrestling,Judo,Sambo ara better options ithen bjj in tn stand up grappling . I also prefer short limb, elbow knee stikes in the WC range.WC can be useful in the transition.

A few things....in Canada (like in the USA) there are knife laws as to what you can carry. And TWO...when attacked it`s rarely if ever òne on one`. It`s more often you vs MANY. Best `defense`is to run away if possible and not try to be a hero. Also...gun laws are so strict it`s not even a wepon of choice for defense. We live in a very Anti-gun country...only for sport (gun range, 3-gun, trap....) or hunting. Guns must be stored in safes unloaded...ammo separate ...i believe in another safe...HEH... So much litigatoon surrounded self-defense. You really dDO want to just escape if possible....MAÉ IMHO is only good for exercise....most people practicing are not prepared for real world violent encounters....`...if you `ve never stepped in a ring how do you know you can fight`.

Run if you can’t run grab the wrist and direct it away from your body then push the joint of the wrist in and have a finger on the palm to fully flex the wrist then shake it works but not 100%

For the trapping range, don't forget about Goju-ryu karate, especially the way Masaji Taira-sensei teaches it.

Does your physics has anything to do about what marcial art is the best for you. For example, i thougt about that wrestling would be siutable for someone who is may be not that tall and would be more often in a situation of beeing near an apponand. So, if I am something about 1.97 cm tall, what would be the best marcial art for someone that tall?
