Calling it hiking. It sounds too much like exercise or going "bush,". A camino too me is a long walk, thru civilized country with towns and cities, the chance to be a nomad for awhile enjoying all the different sights and sounds,, and to escape the everyday routine. Some may even call it a pilgrimage...

Thanks so much for your comments - I love it for the same reason - there is culture and nature side by side! However, I do love to climb the mountains and feel my heart pumping. There is a sense of achievement in getting to the top that I enjoy. I'm interested to know if you find the Camino a spiritual experience as you make the pilgrimage?

@@TheGingerVicar-iu4mbfor me walking the camino was transformative. It was my sister's idea. I mostly went to keep her company. Before I went I lived a fairly quiet, introverted life. I had no desire to travel. Now I love seeing the beautiful old architecture, love meeting new people from around the world, love the culture and warmth of the portuguese. We didn't finish our trip, I caught a nasty flu and then we had to go home. I'm looking forward to the next leg of our journey. My sister and I are in our late 60s. As long as I can walk, I want to walk caminos.😊❤🚶♀️

I’m addicted to walking Caminos so nothing puts me off. So many routes and so little time 😩. Love following your adventures. Thanks for sharing. I’m in San Sebastián during the summers. Hope to meet you on trail sometime 🤞. 😊❤️🥾

Thanks so much for watching. What a joy it is to meet a fellow addict. Sadly I’m not on the Camino until October this year. What’s your favorite route so far and what’s your next one?
@Maryann1103 ай бұрын
My favorite is hard to say. The Via Podiensis/Chemin Le Puy in France is absolutely wonderful and worth a repeat. I walked on the Via Francigena from Lausanne Switzerland, over the Grand St. Bernard Pass to Lucca Italy and it was stunning and amazing. The Francés was my first (2013) and with my family including my 1 yr old grandson so those memories are priceless. I hope to do the San Salvador and Primitivo before I get too old 😂 (I’m 71) and repeat Lausanne to Aosta possibly next year 🤞. What’s your next plan? I enjoy your your sense of humor. Thank you again for sharing your journey with us. Buen Camino 😊❤️🥾

wow, you are seasoned in the ways of pilgrimage - I hope to do Via Francigena soon - in fact, I need to do all those you have listed in the coming years - so excited - I am working towards a big plan for 2028 - I going to walk from Hawaii to Jerusalem with my faithful surfboard and make a documentary about surfing and faith - I will do a few Camino's in reverse on this trip! Thanks so much for watching my little episodes and glad you are enjoying them. Stoked that you are in your 70s and still hitting the trail - I pray that I may follow your example

Your plan sounds fantastic. Excited to follow along. Walking is good for the soul and in reverse is a whole other terrific experience. I’ve been tackling the Norte in reverse and flip flopping for several years. ❤Basque Country. Blessings to you and yours 🥰

This is funny. Your hacks were mine exactly. Change your shoes halfway everyday equaled zero blisters for me 800 + km. Stay in hotels equaled no snoring, a great nights sleep and skipped the mass of early walkers. Make a beautiful salad from the supermarket everyday. Never got sick and felt better than I had in years.

very stoked that you enjoyed the video - I guess that after a Camino or 2, we all start to learn what works. When and where is your next Camino adventure?

Just came back. There are vegetables. You just have to know what to order. Maybe do not order the Pilgrims menu ;)

that is a great tip - glad to hear you found the veggies, and thanks so much for watching

My longest day on the portuguese camino was about 24 km. I walked 8 days in total. Best toe socks, best altra trail runners. Fairly prepared re training. No blisters. My sister and I did get lost a few times along the litoral route. Next time we'll use the apps. We ❤❤❤❤ walking the camino!

Very fun! 😂 I did the Camino Frances to Finsterra in May! Great info and particularly your hotel hack which I did after the 1st 10 days of snoring, a cold that I didn’t want to give to others and having a hard time finding a bed! Also, are you using Bedrock Sandals. I have about 400k in those and they are great.

thanks so much for watching - I must try the Bedrocks - glad you are enjoying the videos - what is your next camino

I think the sopa del dia in Portugal is mostly vegetables. I ❤ the soup, especially on a rainy day. The fruit in Portugal was the best I've ever had. ❤
