I don’t think The Boys is the best show ever but it’s definitely in the top 10-15 with Daredevil, My Hero Academia, Legion, Doom Patrol, Umbrella Academy, Preacher, Justice League Unlimited, Avengers EMH, Batman TAS, Spectacular Spider-Man, Wolverine & the X-men, and Batman Beyond. It is easily one of my favorite shows this year and it’s based on Garth Ennis work so it was bound to be pretty good.

Iron Man 3 had a scene where the plane crew had to skydive to safety that wasn't totally impractical. Of course the great amount of people would change the scale and danger of the rescue though.

Cory was talking about how the Boys is a commentary on Marvel's business model, but the superheroes that this show takes down are the DC Superheroes. It's clearly a hit job on the archetypal tropes of Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, Aquaman, and the Flash. Those characters aren't presented to readers and viewers as humans with faults, unlike Marvel's Tony Stark, who is a recovering alcoholic and everyone knows it.

Was planning on watching The Boys but knowing Antony Starr is in it then for sure it is a must-see. If you haven't done so, you should check him out in the Cinemax series Banshee. Sooo good!! The fight scene between Starr's character and the actor playing an MMA fighter who rapes a female is worth it alone! Five minutes of bloody violence that left me shaken. But again, oh sooo good!

I liked Doom patrol and though this sounds like a good show that I will check out, I still feel the super hero fatigue from these shows. Though they are a different type of superhero show than the marvel movies are I still feel fatigue from the constant cynicism, darkness, murder, social commentary, lack of earnest sincerity and constant wink and nods to the audience, etc. I still want to see a superhero show that feels like the old superman movies. Where saving people is the focus, inspiring people to be better and do good and generally giving audiences a feeling of hope and happiness without fear of being "cheesy". Instead of the constant feel of malaise. The only two things that have gotten close to this is Wonder Woman, a movie where the hero actually wants to save people and the anime "My hero Academia". Weirdly the only show after over a decade with superhero shows and movies that have nailed what a superman character should be in the character "All might".

Mr. Urban low key takes all the coolest comic book heroes so far. He did the best Dredd not that its too high a bar to beat. Gotta love that this here and umbrella academy adaptations exist now.

He's going to have a great character arc. He's an absolute asshole in that first episode but over the course of the season you see flashes of the good in him ( his love for the environment and saving the sea life ) but the power and fame has corrupted him. The Boys will get him and Queen Maeve on their side in the next season to take on Homelander

I binged this series (8 episodes). The series was riveting and more fearless than any superhero. Before I began watching I had not realized that this was based on a comic series. Amazon Prime has a feature which provides written commentary on each episode.The episodes have more warning labels regarding adult themes, violence and sex than I have seen on some R-rated movies. There are many scenes, where you do not think that they will go there...and they do. A superhero ("Homelander") gives a speech to a very responsive audience, that was almost uncannily, reminiscent of a certain political figure. I agree with Korey and Martin, this is one of the better superhero stories out there.

Eh... give it time. It's new and different, and Korey's high off finishing it over the weekend, so give it a few weeks and see if he feels the same. I've seen so many critics call something the best whatever after watching only to backtrack later when people point out all the flaws.

Tony Stark. I still wish when The Avengers were shown the Sokovia Accords in Civil War and Stark said, "We need to be under control." Cap would have said, "What do you mean We?" The hed put $20 in a swear jar on the conference table, his old-fashioned self would ask the ladies to leave and there'd be a time jump to 30 minutes later outside the conference room and the female Avengers hear a muffled Cap STILL cussing out Stark. (He's Captain America, but he was still a soldier in WWII.) I'd love it if someone did a skit about that.
