@@MysticApertureStudios You're not wrong. I've met wedding/event photographers that use it and they make good money off that little thing. One husband and wife couple had a few of them and gave them out to the guest to walk around and take pictures. At my second job which is a movie theater, we had The Color Purple premiere event and there had to of been over 800 people. The church photographer had a set up in our back hallway (mind you our movie theater is one of the biggest in the country). He had a Polaroid, and a iPad with a ring light. Bruhhhh he was cleaning up 🤣🤣🤣 Dude setup a purple carpet. The guest had their Sundays best. They dressed for the movie so they had some period piece outfits similar to the characters of the movie. Dude had to of made $4k or more off those Polaroids. He wasn't even controlling the iPad, the people walked up, inserted their CC, and pushed a button.

Funny this camera has been out for so long and the Z9 even longer but everybody was still ignoring Nikon for video. Now Nikon buys RED and finally people are waking up to the fact that Nikon is actually making some of the best hybrid cameras out there. 8K/60 or 4K/120 compressed RAW internal, amazing color science and dynamic range…. Yeah the Z9 has been quietly doing that for more than two years now.

Dude the camera doesnt even have 12 months since it released... The high sales numbers and Nikon having great financial year say that people were onto the Z8 right after it released. It was the best selling high end body in Japan. Plenty of people already knew the Z8 and z9 were awesome video beasts way before Nikon decided to buy RED

Just picked up the Z8 last week and it feels like vindication for having had the patience to stick with Nikon for so long. I walked out of my first wedding with it and the only way I could describe it is that it feels like the Infinity Gauntlet of cameras. I shot on the D60 > D7100 > D800 > D850 > Z6ii and I was doing things with the Z8 with absolute ease that I would have struggled to make happen in the past and it was the second day I owned it. I was shooting on a 1/100 f/1.4 3200+ dancefloor and it breezed through with no issue at all The 2010s were rough as I so desperately wanted to get into video but the ecosystem was dreadful for it so I added a BMD Pocket 4K to the kit which is beautiful too but limited in ways and lost any form of AF on F glass. The Z8 means I now have a flagship stills platform with amazing AF and those high frame rates but also a really capable video machine. So excited to see what the RED merger brings to the Z ecosystem. One thing is for sure - the "potato" jokes have well and truly stopped

I almost switched to Sony when I began to shoot a lot more video....then they released the Z9 while I was on contract shooting an a1. I bought the Z9 without hesitation and followed it up with a Z8. There was just no comparison. Z8/9 is by far the best hybrid shooting camera available.

Another benifit is that you can buy an adapter to use Sony lenses on a Z mount, but you can't buy an adapter to use Z mount lenses on the E mount. Now to be fair, most of these adapters will make it very clear auto focus for example is only guaranteed on official sony lenses with these adapters, but the fact that auto focus can be used at all these adapters is incredible!

@@BurneraccountXD69 No but 24-70 2.8 DG DN, 85 1.4 DG DN, and 90mm 2.8 DG DN all work like native. I implicitly trust all Sigma lenses with it atm.

@@BurneraccountXD69 I got the Sigma 14mm f/1.4 for my Nikon Zf and it works great. I think AF speed may be faster on the native Sony mount but it's inconsequential in my case because I got this lens primarily for landscapes and nightsky which don't require quick focusing.

Forgot to mention Nikon lenses are very very good. And they sell Z mount adapter that fit Sony lenses for those who already have some Sony lenses but want to try the Z8. They work just as good as native Z lenses.

they do have some inconsistencies, but work very very well 90% of the time. Nothing you'd notice on a portrait shoot. On the video side, the adapter is seamless.

I actually own both and they are both amazing cameras. The Sony has of course unique qualities resulting from it's GS (no led issues, flash synchro without constraints), but for most other aspects (including AF in many situations), I prefer the Z8/Z9. The a9III is really a specialized tool.

@@user-to6xr1nx3k yes, I don't expect a Z9II before early 2025, but there is really is no need for one. The Z8/z9 are already near perfect. And my a9III works very well if I need faster sync speed... and the Sony lenses work very well on both cameras. An R1 would have little value even if I am sure it will be a great camera. Canon's isolation is the issue. R1 will make no difference.

and that is the problem with A9iii for commercial shoots. The flash at high shutter speeds would be awesome but then its 24 megapixels. And a 100m megapixel Hassy X2d with the same daylight flash ability costs almost the same (minus the lenses). I guess we have to wait for a 60megapixel global shutter A1mk2.

I shoot raw sdr video with my Z8 at iso64 and davinci resolve can interpret the raw video shot in sdr into nikon log. Effectively with the Z8 you can get nikon log shot at iso64. Its quite crazy!

Hi, I’m shooting with Fujifilm gfx100s but it’s not good for all types of photography which I like (Portrait, Landscape, Still-life). It’s heavy and bulky with gf lenses to carry around, and slow for sports and wildlife if sometimes I like to experience it! But it seems Z8 is all in one camera. The only matter important to me is if I switch to Z8, with 14bit and 45mp, could I achieve the same high images quality (detailing, colour rendering, and deep dynamic range) by gfx100s with 16bit and 102mp? Thank you.

That's because it is great Ninety percent of photographers don't need all the bells and whistles of these higher end cameras If you know what you're doing, the end results are going to be the same.What's more important Are the lenses you have that makes the biggest difference in the end result. That z8 is the best all round camera especially at the price its got all you need

It is an amazing camera. The main drawback is that Nikon stopped all F mount lens production. You'll also run into camera support if it breaks. So for a working professional, the D780 is a bad choice of camera. For a hobbyist or backup body it's a great camera, great deal and introduction into mirrorless. I still use a Nikon from 2005 so I wouldn't be worried about the D780 breaking for the next 20yrs at least and by then you can buy a Z8 for pennies on the dollar 😅 Just keep in mind as photographer's we peaked a very very long time ago. A Nikon D3/D3s was that peak. You can almost say the same for vide. Those Panasonic GH cameras really punched high for small mirrorless. Dude you're set for the rest of your natural life with the D780 honestly. Over 90% of all screens in the world in use today are 1080p or lower, and the footage broadcast globally is still 720p and 1080i. You're only upgrading so you can downsample 4K, 8K, etc. to 720p, 1080i, and 1080p to benefit from higher quality outputs and lower visible noise. The D3S downsamples from a 3.8K resolution to 720p which is still broadcast quality today. You just don't have the color grading flexibility and slow motion frame rates. Like the guy above said, bells and whistles.

Not true that A9 III doesn't have 'dual base ISO' in stills. It certainly does have switchable conversion gain. It doesn't do teh 'dual base ISO' feature in video.

yes the z8 is less but when you do the math out for a 24mm, 35mm,85mm prime 14-24mm, 24-70mm vs Sony a1 sigma 24mm, Sony 35mm, sigma 85mm, sigma 14-24, sigma 24-70 it cost $400 more overall if you do the math out and if you want additional Lenses Sony is cheaper and more options better battery and autofocus on a1.
