Just got the 2023 HRV Sport, an upgrade from my 2004 Honda Civic. It's a nice step up from a sedan but doesn't feel overly too big. Very smooth to drive and can't wait to take it on a roadtrip in a few weeks.

For me a car not having a turbo is a plus, I don't like the problems and costs that come with a turbo, just one more thing that breaks down in my eyes. I love the CR-Vs but the turbo only engines on them are making me turn towards other options like this HR-V.

2023s aren’t all turbos
@steveo2660 Жыл бұрын
I also try to avoid turbos & the problems and expense that come with them. But very happy this 2.0 Honda engine remains MPI. No future carbon buildup. Would be great to have the Honda 10 speed automatic versus the cvt. I am replacing the Hankook tires asap. Absolute junk tire. Have 4 new Nokian WRG4 all weather on order.

A good review. We’ve ordered an LX. Kudos to Honda for putting their safety suite, including adaptive cruise control on all trim levels. A remote starter is also included in the LX trim along with heated seats and LED lights all round. So although the HRV’s base price is higher than say Corolla Cross, it’s still the better choice for us.

The host said he was 6’3”, so that may be the tallest you can get in there and be comfortable. I went with a 22 Rav4 XLE AWD gas. Thank you for your reviews, they helped!

I like your review. I agree with you that it needs an optional engine for more power. Also it needs premium stereo option and some sound insulation for road noise. Your review was refreshing and hit the highs and lows of this vehicle. Keep reviews like this coming and you will be at 100k subs before you know it.

Definitely did not notice that with my EXL and i took it on the highway a lot, some cars have a little hood flutter but 1 inch seems like a serious safety issue and maybe a problem with yours in particular.

Surprised by the low MPGs of this when considering the engine performance and fairly aerodynamic looks. If Honda could only modernize and bring back that old K24. If AWD is not needed then the Ex or touring version of the civic hatch has the driving enthusiast covered with gobs of space and great performance and MPGs.

Just called four dealerships. 5 reasons not to buy a 2023 Honda HR-V. 1) $5K markup adendum 2) Virtually no availability 3) Need for customer to convince dealership why they as a customer are worthy of the dealership's time over other customers 4) Inability to test drive 5) Sport model is great save for infotainment that has bezels bigger than Rhianna's forehead and is clearly designed to emberass you for not picking the top trim.
@Realistick2 жыл бұрын
Not the forehead😂 availability is kind of an issue with a ton of models. As far as markup goes, it depends on your region. If you want my advice, I'd find a good, large dealer and then order (typically this means waiting for their next allocation). Of course, this means ordering one without driving it first, but I can't see any dealer holding your deposit if you drive it and don't like it. If we want markups to go away, don't buy over msrp so travel if you have to!

So sorry that's happening to you. It sucks when people don't treat you right. I have two dealerships fairly close and they were both more than gracious last April when I was hunting Civic. One actually called me and let me know when one was on its way and just took my word not a deposit. They added stuff to the car but didn't mark it up. Hang in there.
@BoopSnoot2 жыл бұрын
@@Offensively-normal Thx. To me adding stuff is the same as adendum. I also looked at a Taos SE and they had no markup (actually 500 off MSRP) but they added 600 for tinting the front two windows and 600 for a paint protection thing. IMO those are just profit addons but the Taos there seems to be way more availability and prices are lower. Honda has a much nicer interior than the Taos did though, everything on the Taos was hard plastic. Don't think anything I touched was soft or stitched.

The reason for the increase price is to cover that crazy gas cap that will be a problem for Honda in the future. Rubber cover will crack and split on gas inlet as it ages. Also rear bumper is flush with rear door poor design.

Loved the review! I have mixed feelings about this car though, since one of my personal favorites used to be the old HR-V, with the cavernous interior, tiny footprint and magic seats. Had they modernized that one and given it a premium interior, bigger engine and a small space bump... wait a minute, its this one! except for the lack of magic seats, lower ground clearance and egg-shaped body (love the front though). So like you say, a solid second to a manual Crosstrek, and very near to a turbo CX-30.

Thank you for the very objektiv video.
@Realistick2 жыл бұрын
It is upscale, it does have a partial digital cluster, and I mentioned about all of what you said in this video. It has a premium FEEL for the segment, not premium features.
@alengreen5892 жыл бұрын
@@Realistick you Americans have a different perception of what premium is or not than we Europeans, if you see a little bit leather inside you think it´s premium but only a little bit leather inside makes a car not to a premium car in Europe, here in Europe you can buy very cheap cars with leather seats thats nothing special. Maybe we have other points of view?
@Realistick2 жыл бұрын
@@alengreen589😂 it's not just a bit of leather, although I'm convinced some Americans do believe that. MANY cars here offer leather. I think European cars like an audi a4 are great examples of what I am talking about. A base audi a4 also has very little "premium" features, on top of the driving experience, you pay for the quality of the materials, the tactile feeling of the buttons, panel fitment. It's a satisfying interior. A VW Taos has all of the features you just mentioned, but compared to the HR-V, it feels like fisher price had a hand in production. See what I mean? An HR-V has awesome button/dial feel, soft touch materials all around, clean design, and is more satisfying to use then most of its competitors. As I said in my video, the tradeoff is features. I think this could kill it with a top spec touring trim!

@@alengreen589 Wow, show your judgmental bias why don't you. How would you know what kind of "premium" the presenter is referring to if you're European? This car isn't even offered in Europe!
