They're about $350 here in the States in excellent shape from the better used dealers. My only issues have been on one the left door is a bit warped (there's a simple hack to fix it) which has been a problem for others with earlier models and the EF-X8 flash stopped working which is also a somewhat common issue but IMO are nothing to complain about. I love to shoot B&W and Classic Chrome at ISO >= ISO 1600 which reminds me of Plus-X and a cool Kodachrome. I completely agree with your thoughts on the battery grip. Ahh, the X-T1, possibly the nicest camera I have ever owned. Superb ergonomics and tightly assembled such that with the XF 27mm f/2.8 you can fit it in your pocket. I only had to update for the higher resolution and speedier operation, however the X-T2 and X-T3 are all much heavier with a shallower grip. Images from this camera are vibrant and contrasted albeit a little heavy on the shadows, so the images have heavier lines ... but there's something magical in the way this sensor processes images, which the X-T2 and X-T3 can't seem to hit. Focusing speeds are super, especially with the 23mm f/2. Had to part with mines recently but I already want it back ...

Are the images rendered by the Xtrans2 sensor of the XT1 so worth it despite the XT1's issues like its skin peeling off over time, warping of its port doors, slower AF, and compromising high ISO performance where it tends to turn skins waxy-like OVER the XT2's better build quality, faster AF, no skin peeling nor door warping issues? @@nathanielngosy with my two X-T1’s I bought from KEH used for around $300 each, I’ve experienced none of the issues you listed. They were marketed as “excellent” condition and are holding up well. I haven’t noticed skin changes at different ISO’s but will keep on the lookout. Slower AF? Probably…keeps getting better but for the photography I do speed isn’t a big factor (landscape and people). @@billb8262 It is. I don't know if the local 2nd hand market sellers here are taking advantage by kicking up the prices. So I decided to hold off my purchase. Perhaps it's better for me to just forget the idea that old sensors do render better images making them film-like as the film simulations can be alternate solutions over it. Just last week I almost bought a mint 2nd hand XM1 (XTrans1) sensor which supposedly renders more film-like palettes but the lack of a viewfinder kind of turned me off and with that slower AF, that cam may just be thrilling to use early on but will end up gathering dust in the end making me regret my purchase. The price--still expensive at around US$180. And then finding out that it should only be around US$85 to US$100 just turned me off.

Yes this is true. I have two X-H1's and just love them. I kept my old X-T1 (and battery grip), and have that married with my 23mm F2. Everything you say here is true. The images are lovely, the handling familiar to the newer models and a reasonable EVF and screen. However, what you forget to say is that after using the better cameras (like my X-H1's), the T1 does feel lacking in many ways. The autofocus is slow and still misses many images, the EVF is not as bright or clear, and the OVF the same. The thing I miss the most is that I crop in a lot on my images in post-process. I have to sometimes to get the framing that I need and to get the subject to fill the frame. There is a big difference between the 16 and 24mp sensors. If you try and crop in too much on the 16mp, the image starts to fall apart. Having said that, I still keep the T1, it brings back many memories from previous shoots and lovely images and to sell it I would get nothing for it. Philip

Thanks for the video. I am an XT-1 user since 2016. Recently, I am considering to upgrade to XH-1 for several reasons: (1) IBIS, (2) better resolution (3) more comfortable fit for my large hands and (4) amazing deals due to, probable, discontinuance of XH line and expectation of XT-4 with IBIS (which will leave the XH line in the shadow of the XT line). I don't do any video. The main reason I would like to upgrade the resolution is that my purpose as a hobbyist photographer is to print my photographs for my own use, preferably at A3 or A2 size. I don't know much about printing but as per my short research on the matter, it seems like the 24MP sensor gives approx 250dpi in A2 print where 16MP gives 200dpi. I am not sure how big of a deal that is but I would like to have a certain level of print quality both for my satisfaction and in case someday I would sell some of my photographs as prints. I would love to get your (and your audience's) opinion on that matter. Cheers.
@gearreallydoesntmatter5 жыл бұрын
I would start by ordering a print from your XT1 in A4, A3 and A2. I think you will be surprised at how well it holds up. The normal viewing distance of an A2 will require less resolution. A billboard is like 15dpi.

Two days before you published this video I bought a used X-T10 with the XF 18-55mm. So I have to agree with your recommendation, especially regarding the image quality and the performance. Unfortunately used cameras are in Germany not as cheap as you experience it: you will ususally not find a decent used x-t1 for less than 300 Euro - what you bought would be a real bargain here. However, I always wanted to try a Fuji camera (I have a Panasonic G6 and GM1, a Pentax K-70 and a Sigma DP2 Merrill) and I like it very, very much. Image quality is near the Sigma, it's as versatile as the Pentax and as light and smal as the G6. It could become my new favourite camera.

For most everyday shooting, it has more than what you need. And if you bother to train your eye not to crop... 16mp is fine. I waited till 2016 to plunge into digital, got an X-T1 (+ 2nd body later), and a GR- still using w/no regrets...

I bought a used X-T20 today with 18-55mm f2.8 zoom. These cameras have a lot going for them. The jpg colours are something to behold. For another £200 I could have had the X-T30 but I paid just under £600 inc lens and six month warranty from a dealer.

Have mine since 2015 and I'll never part from this camera. It still shoots beautiful pictures. Bought it with the 18-135mm as a kit lens which sits mostly on the shelf these days, so despite being a good traveling lens I'm reconsidering to sell that thing...

I bought one this past summer to see what this Fuji love fest was all about. Mine was $300 USD with battery grip and the MH1 grip which I like better. Plus an ass load of lens adapters and batteries. I expect this camera will be usable and relevant ten or more years from now. If you’re shy about post processing, SOOC jpegs are excellent.

Once had this for a while. Totally love the look. Can't say anything about the performance. As a newbie, I have no complaints at all. A couple of things I don't like though. The grip is mediocre as I've been used to my D300 which feels perfect. Also I keep accidentally moving the exposure scroll button, which is annoying. And yeah, battery sucks. But all in all, definitely a steal for gorgeous, powerful, and cheap apsc camera. If I'm buying another mirrorless, I definitely will check fuji camera again.

Still using mine with the vertical grip. I've been thought a lot of lenses, 35 f2, 56 f1.2, 18 f2, 50mm f2, tons of vintage lenses, but right now currently only own the 18-55 and it's still pretty great.

The X-T1 is probably my favorite digital camera. My Nikon D700 is a workhorse that never needs charging, but the X-T1 can use any lens I own (love the Fuji 35/2 WR, but it's fun to use Pentax Auto 110 lenses and some of the stellar Takumar and Nikkor lenses) and it gives *fantastic* images straight out of the camera.

If in the 2nd hand market the X-T1 is only $50 short from a X-E3, would you recommend the X-T1 or the X-E3?
@brian-beeler4 жыл бұрын
IMO get the X-T1 since it's weather sealed, has better controls and a flip-out screen . If you're going to large print a lot then get the X-E3 as it has 24MP instead of 16MP. If you only print up to 13"x19" both are good and the X-T1 is more enjoyable to use.

Just bought my XT1 yesterday and look forward to learning it this weekend. I'm starting with a dumb adapter for my manual Nikon lenses but I will purchase a Fuji lens soon. I also have a Sony A6000 and while I love the image quality from it, handling is not always good and the evf is only barely acceptable. It does great video though so I'm not sure if I'm keeping it. 16mp is fine for me and I love the Fuji look.

I have the Fuji xt-1 and the xh-1. The image quality of the xt-1 is just as good as that of the xh-1. you only notice a small difference when you start cropping (16mp vs 24mp) and at very high iso values.

I still own my XT1. Probably never sell it. Since it was the first camera that made me really fell in love with photography. Before I was taking snapshots. Reason 6 would be weather sealing BTW. Not many camera's at this price point have that.

Hello, request for a hint. Sometimes I take pictures with a flash indoors and when I used an SLR I didn't have this problem and now when I have a Fuji XT1 mirrorless camera there is a problem with the dark viewfinder. In the SLR, you know what I would not set, you can always see in the viewfinder, in the mirrorless camera, the automatic selects, say, 1/10s and it's ok, but I want to use the flash in the manual, e.g. 1/100, it gets dark, how can it be avoided so that the viewfinder does not react to change the exposure relative to the one suggested by the automation?

Ha, Ricoh GR and X-T1 - the two cameras I have been using for the last 6 or 7 years for my street shooting and love both. Have been thinking recently of upgrading to X-H1 or X-T4 and maybe GRIII and keep asking myself: do I really need an upgrade???
@Gundolf3005 жыл бұрын
The only thing I would hold against the x-t1 is the sensor being a bit prone to overheat easily when doing long exposures and thus generating a fair share of hot pixels and noise (pretty damn common on every sensor below the d8**/5d/a7r series) and the buttons being very... Idk.. Unclicky? Apart from that for the price it's a beast and I honestly regret selling mine!

Great video Mattias I just bought an almost never used black XT1 for $450CAD. Love the camera I'm only concerned about the rubber grip peeling issue. I had this issue on another XT1 I bought used. Any out there with an XT1 that has their rubber grip still intact?
@brian-beeler4 жыл бұрын
It's a common problem. I have two X-T1 bodys, an early model and later model. The early model has a peeling rubber grip in the back and warped left door and the later model is fine. Double stick tape twice a year fixed the rubber grip problem.

@@brian-beeler Hi..Hi Bill B. I'm contemplating on getting a pristine condition Graphite Edition XT1 at US$470. Do you think the price is worth it? I do have an XT3 but thinking of getting a 2nd body. But I'm also worried about the XT1's skin peeling off over time and also its warping of its port doors. How has your later unit held up after over two years writing this comment? Because if it peeled off, I may just go for a brand new and sealed X-T2 that was offered to me with one year warranty and the 18-55 kit wherein XT2's are supposedly better built, faster AF, better ISO performance, etc. Hoping to get your response. Thanks.
