I love your reviews but I've recently purchased a Sigma DP3 Merrill after your DP1 review and you reminded me that I once own a DP1 and reworking the files found them to be amazing. Well I like a longer lens these days and 50mm (75mm in 35mm standard) is ideal and the files are epic. The downside as you know is the max of 200 iso the quirky controls and awful grip. So when enjoying the X-T30 video I agree with every thing you say that this is a fine modern camera, well worth investing in however for me the Sigma wins hands down for old film shooters like me. Great review. One question for any owners of the X-T30. I need to do approximately 1.5 hours of video for an outdoor sporting event on a regular basis. I read somewhere that you can only record 10 minutes of video at a time. Does that mean you have to restart video yourself or is that just a file limit and it continues on after 10 minutes with a new file? I also read that after a period of time the camera gets too hot and the camera will shut down. Has anyone experienced this? Seems like a big issue if so. Thank you.
@gearreallydoesntmatter5 жыл бұрын
Like most stills cameras you have to restart the video. My tip is to buy a real video camera if you regularly shoot +1h sports.
@alvas27715 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your response. I only shoot this sport 10 times a year so was hoping to just use my own camera as I am in the market to buy a new one. I guess I asked as previously I have used a Canon EOS 70D and a Nikon D3500 (not so good) and both saved only 15 minutes worth to a single file but then automatically continued video with another file. It appears that is not the case with the X-T30.

The X-Pro3 is intriguing; good on them for trying something a bit different. It seems this line takes it’s inspiration from Leica, who has tried similar experiments, though not with a hidden tilting screen. The price is not in my ballpark though. I tried the X-T30 briefly at a trade show, I didn’t like the changes to the back, like taking away the D-pad or the weird raised Q button. I have the buttons programmed to various functions I use all the time, so would feel their loss. I use a 3rd party grip on my X-T20 as well as a thumb grip, so it fits well in my hand now, otherwise it wouldn’t feel as nice to use. The difference in the X-T30 grip hasn’t changed that. It might well be a better camera in all other respects, I have had a few firmware issues with the X-T20 which makes it a bit unreliable at times. I’d like to see a firmware update just on stability. For my budget, I need to stick to my X-T20 for at least another year, and it’s quite capable. I prefer using it for walkabout photography over my bigger Canon 80D (weight-wise, it has a bit to do with the Sigma 18-35mm strapped to it, a magnificent but big and heavy lens).

@@gearreallydoesntmatter agree,but the lens option is holding me back.
@gearreallydoesntmatter3 жыл бұрын
It should not. There are more lenses than you would ever need. And exactly the same options as the Z50. The Fuji has even less options.

Hey Mattias thanks for your wonderful, insightful reviews. Love seeing Sweden every time I see your beautiful photos. What would you recommend choosing between the 35mm 1.4 or 2.0. I do a lot of artistic, street photography and some landscape. Just like to know you take on this. Thank you so much!

I keep wavering between buying the X-T30 and X-T3. I do some, but not primarily, sports photography, so I'm also considering the Nikon D-500. I currently use the Nikon D7100.
@mvonwalter69275 жыл бұрын
Shishkiboom if you need the hardcore lenses beyond 200mm then Nikon it is. You probably know how affordable and vast the Nikon used market is already. But the XT3’s burst rates and AF tracking are pretty phenomenal. The 55-200 Fuji is pretty fantastic too. Awesome jpegs is just icing on the cake.

@@mvonwalter6927 Thanks for the information. I've used Nikon for many years and I enjoy the system but I've heard so many good things about the Fujifilm X-T3/X-T30 that I think it would be fun to try something different for a change, and I'm sure the 55-200 Fuji would be more than good enough for my sporting needs. Plus I've always been curious about cameras with an EVF, and the Fuji film simulations also interest me because I'm not really into post-processing. (I'm not a professional photographer) Thanks again.

Everytime I shoot sports I kinda miss my D500. What a monster. And affordable these days as well.

Shishkiboom I ran into a hardcore sports photographer last week, shoots Iron Man competitions, and he was using Godox strobes bursting away off power packs. His body? Nikon D7200! I love my old XE2 over my XT3 for “having fun photography” and it’s cheap enough to just add into your Nikon arsenal. I actually miss my Nikon DSLR a lot and am considering one again.

@@gearreallydoesntmatterThanks for your input Mattias. I love your videos. It would be great to shoot sports with a 'monster,' especially in lower-light, indoor situations such as high school basketball and hockey, while also using it for wildlife photography and outdoor sports such as soccer - and, like you say, the price is definitely right. You have definitely made the decision-making process much easier. I am now quite certain I will purchase the Nikon D500, and I'm sure I will love it. Thanks again.

Still waiting for the day Fuji will make an XE3 remodel with an XT3 tilt screen design
@gearreallydoesntmatter5 жыл бұрын
It would be awesome. But I don't think they will. It would steal sales from the X-Pro3. So I think only the later will get a tilt screen.
@cesarm61315 жыл бұрын
@@gearreallydoesntmatter xpro 3 sales are mostly emotion dependant rather than specs. there's alot more in the Xpro 3 that will attract the specific photographer besides the different tilt screen design XE line would have. Since XE3 was made for the streets I think it'll have the tilt and fixed screen will be reserved for the XF line .

I feel that fuji is adding more cameras to the market than they should.. I'm not sure if it's good or bad.. But they'll make you feel soon that your camera is outdated.. And they've stopped making bridge cameras, super zoom stuff.

This is kinda unrelated to this video but I've been looking into getting an X-pro2 for a while now but my budget is pretty low. Right now they go used for around $900-1000 CAD on Ebay. Do you guys think the price will go down at all with the release of the x-pro3?

I'm sure it will. Just look how far the X-Pro1 has dropped.

Hi Mattias, I've been binging your videos, they're well put together and your photos are astonishing! I really enjoy photographing figure skating and find my current camera (Sony DSC - HX200V) is not up to par. Most cameras would be an upgrade, but would the Fuji X-T30 be a good option for taking action shots/does it have a quick burst mode? Thanks for any insight!
@gearreallydoesntmatter5 жыл бұрын
Hello, glad to hear you enjoy my images. It has a quick burst rate, can't remember but around 11fps. However if you are mostly going to use it for sports I personally would get a dedicated sports camera like a used Nikon D500 and a tele zoom. The upside of the Fuji would be that you can use it for that but also as a smaller travel camera as well.
