It's really a matter of diligence and constant practice. For example, I've used generic skateboards through my youth. Initially, when I've began riding a pennyboard, there wasn't any comfort. But gradually, I've improved and it became second nature. In fact, the Rasta pennyboard I've purchased in summer 2015, still works well to this day.

A regular cruiser-skateboard is so much superior to penny for 1 simple reason: you can ollie. And with a bigger board and wider trucks you can go a lot faster, so riding down a hill is not a suicide attempt like on penny.

@oops93935 жыл бұрын
ツCheyenne I have one and learned very quickly oof
@michaeledowling10395 жыл бұрын
@@cheyennss6221 It won't take long to learn on any board. Pushing isn't hard if you have youtube tutorials I promise. Longer boards are more stable so for that reason the longest boards are used for racing downhill. It might be easiest to use a longboard but I don't think you'll struggle regardless. I've tried all the major types (mini cruiser (Penny), Cruiser (Penny Nickle and a Landyacht), a regular skateboard and a longboard. If you'd like to mount curbs and things then I think you should get a regular skateboard. You can put the same size wheels on them and it'll be just as smooth. (It'll also feel less bumpy the more you practice). TL;DR I think you should get a regular skateboard made of wood but it partially depends on what you want to do (the length depends on what you're doing with it). If you want to carry it a smaller board is lighter but a mid size board is quite light (wood is normally lighter than plastic), if you want to race down a hill get a longboard, if you want to do tricks (it will also do everything else almost as well but not quite as purpose built) get a skateboard. Sorry for the essay yyyikes

if you're going to buy a penny board, don't. if you want to just cruise, buy a normal shaped deck,(popsicle) and put some soft 78a -85a duro wheels on it , there is absolutely no reason to get a penny, even the prices are the same you can build a complete for 100, and if you ever want to get into tricks, just get some harder wheels and you're good

That seems interesting. I really enjoy the penny, but I'd enjoy trying other things too. Thanks for watching!

@Jake McCoy is right but I am going to add this He specifically said for cruising though. He probably would agree that carrying a penny is easier. The comparison is definitely valid
@michaeledowling10395 жыл бұрын
@Jake McCoy is right but I am going to add this I also have both and I also have a regular board with the wheels taken off my penny. No wheelbite with 60mm but I wouldn't go 70 without risers. And not everyone understands that some functionality is lost with the penny. New skaters often don't think of things like mounting curbs and going exxxxtra fast which I find harder on my penny anyway.
@michaeledowling10395 жыл бұрын
@Jake McCoy is right but I am going to add this Skatehut assembled my first board for me (first board after a penny), I did have to mess with the tightness of the wheels and kingpin but it was fine. I'm sure it could be fun too to see how changing each thing affects the ride. Alternatively I might put together the board myself if my six year old came to me with the parts.

100 dollars?! At our second hand I got one for about 12.5 dollars. Next day they have a cooler purple one in the window for 9.9 dollars XL. Why me. I wish I could cruise more easily. A great guy at our candy shop told me the biggest issue with cruising on a penny board is you have to stomp it 2 times then immediately again. It looses speed fast. Practiced in the basement with a smooth surface. Then when I got comfortable enough I tried outside on the newly paved walk way and I understand immediately what he meant. Not just does it loose velocity fast but DAMN that small size makes it a haunted house. Every uneven parts hits your legs and it feels in the entire board. Not even a minute on it and I could feel my lower legs tickle inside from the vibrations. And every single tiny pebble or rock gives me a heart attack. Hope I can get good enough to actually use it one day. My biggest problem is pushing then moving my foot back to the side. I quickly loose control when trying to move. And turning to the side my back is pointing is impossible for me right now. It's like my entire body is thrown to the side by the board.

Many people in the comments are saying that penny’s are bad cause they can’t bomb hills or Ollie. Tbf most people don’t get penny’s to bomb hills, in that case I’d just use my normal board. It’s just a useful board for traveling around, especially on campuses or if you work/live in a city cause it’s so much easier to store a 22” board than a normal cruiser/longboard. Not to mention it’s light af so when you carry it in your backpack it’s not even noticeable. Bottom line is if you want a cruiser to bomb hills or do tricks with, penny isn’t for you. But if you’re a student or you need a board for your daily commute in the city over fairly flat ground, a penny is perfect cause storing it isn’t an issue, and to me that amount of portability is much worth picking the board up when I get to a curb that I would have to Ollie.
@Jarhead68206 жыл бұрын
My first skateboard was a knock of Penny board. It’s ok but the trucks suck. Then I got a custom Nickel (my first actual Penny brand board). I then got Penny wheel ps and trucks for the knock off board making it rideable. Now I have a Penny longboard as well. Then 2 weeks ago I got a Penny Deck and put the Penny trucks and wheels on it making it my first real 22” Penny. Finally in 3 days I have a new 27” coming to my house. I guess you could say I am obsessed? I love them they rude better than anything. Normal skateboards are terrible in looks and ride-ability. Hard wheels make it feel like there is an earthquake and the decks are boring.

I love my penney, but the bored is so maneuverable and small, that going down the slightest decline will give you the ultimate wobbles. And that's coming from me, a 5'6 guy with tiny size 5 foot size. I've tried tightening the trucks to the point that I couldn't even turn if I was hanging off the edge and front of the bored, but to no avail. I've even gone back down to step 1 on skateboarding, standing on grass, because I thought my balance was that bad. I've been able to carve and fly down a hill on a skateboard since I was 7 years old, but Pnenney's are just impossible man. Saddly, I seem to be carrying my penney around more than using it when Im out ad about.

Are you sure it's not the surface you're trying to ride on? My penny board is super smooth on a nice, even sidewalk or bikeway but when I cruise on a street that is kinda rough because it hasn't been renewed in 20 years then it becomes rather unstable and feels a bit unsafe at times. In those situations I'd rather be on a longboard.
@AHAHHAHHA6 жыл бұрын
Could be the roads here, yeah. I live in Ireland, so most roads (even housing estate roads) have a rigid texture to prevent wheels on scooters and skateboards going fast on them. My town was a popular skating place back in the early 2000s, so a lot of anti-skating things were put up. Things such as anti-skateboarding studs and skateboard deterrents are allover the place. I didn't think this was a big problem until recently, where I'm physically unable to skate on roads. I can only skate on my driveway, currently. And my driveway is basically one-push long.

I gotchu. Longboards are heavier than pennys so you won't want to be carrying it much and longboards are more stable so you can go faster on them without speedwobbles. You won't struggle with either.

I actually once had a nickel board but I can't find it anymore. I'm also not that big of a skater so I used mine to cruise around and I had loads of fun with it. I lowkey really miss that board a lot and I'm thinking of buying a new one lmao

I wanna buy a Penny board cause rn they're on sale for frickin 79$ to 69$, its portable af, you take it out your bag and it's like woop time to strolll and yea last but not least like he said its probably way easier to make turns comparing to the bigger longboards so better manoeuvring. So YASSS

I had one of those when I was an adolescent. Under the age of ten. I called it a trick board. You used them to do tricks. You didn't really ride them. You just used them to do tricks. 360's. 180's. Shit like that. I played with my little blue plastic board in the 70's. Then my parents gave me a bigger skateboard. Those little boards are for little kids.

1:50. You should not be skating in rain anyway. It will destroy your bearings. Like for real, it can be bad.

My friends and I were longboarding and went to Walmart to dick around. To our surprise, they had knock off pennyboards that were unlocked so we cruised around the store with them. I love them now and I’m looking to get a penny board (even tho I just got my longboard lmao)

Yes Kryptonics is a cheap kind of construction but if you dont do tricks, its perfectly fine. Im not going to spend 100 dollars on something that made more durable for tricks when im too scared to do tricks and all i want to do is ride around town because its more fun than a bike than pay 30 dollars for the same thing that may not be as durable but i can still just ride around on. Not coming at you. Its just my opinion. It also really is based off what you need in a penny board as well.

Hey, what are your thoughts about Walmart penny boards. I'm a beginner and I don't want to spends a lot of money since it's my first time. Should I still buy a penny board in Walmart?
@AustinBlackvideo7 жыл бұрын
Hi My favourite KZbinr I think once you ride the Walmart one for a while, you're gonna want an actual penny board, so then you're out $130 instead of $100. Nothing wrong with the walmart board though. Especially for a beginner

Hi, i want to learn how to ride a skateboard/penny board. I am asking for one for my birthday in July. I’m turning 13. Do you think a penny board is a good option or a normal skateboard? I’m looking up everything i can to see what is a good fit for me. One of my friends have a normal skate board and another has a penny board. I cant make my mind up because every video i see is saying each one is better than the other. I need a neutral decision...
