I’m seriously looking at swapping my street Bob for the new Sportster. My number one complaint is having to pay more for proper mid controls. I’m just not a fan of forward controls. Number 2 is the balloon front tire, I’m trying to find a replacement that’s lighter and narrower. Three is the need for a longer travel rear shock, hope the aftermarket fixes that. I’ll agree on the heated grips being standard. When I read their website it reads as if it’s standard. They Need to update the website or start supplying them. Lol. The small tank is a minor niggle. I’d like a longer range tank but it’s not a big touring bike after all.

All of the issues you brought up will be addressed in a few of the upcoming 2022/2023 Sportster models. They have models in the works with mid controls, taller suspension, dual disc brakes, some with the new body style, some with the traditional style (full fender, dual rear shocks and swingarm, traditional style front forks). There will be a new Sportster for just about everyone. There is a 48x being designed, a new nightster being designed, a Sportster designed to look like the late 70s XLCR, a flat track model to compete with the Indian FTR1200. The new Sportster line up doesn't stop at the Sportster S, instead that is just the beginning of the bikes we will see soon! www.cycleworld.com/story/bikes/harley-davidson-cafe-racer-and-flat-tracker-coming-soon/ Here are some photos of the leaked 975cc model (it appears all models will eventually be offered in both 975 and 1250cc). The side photos of the bike were sent out to Harley Davidson customers that had purchased Sportsters over 2 years ago asking what the current customers thought about it. I was just after buying my 2018 Sportster and got the email with the photos and that was the last time it was mentioned until the release video for the Sportster S. In the Sportster S release video they show glimpses and tease the bike in a few shots, but never show the bike in its entirety. I expect that this will be the next model released and I expect that it will be unveiled this coming month at the January 2022 launch event! This bike should fill the gap for the people that like the styling of the air cooled Sportsters but want the new motor and tech (and a 6 speed 😄). amcn.com.au/editorial/base-model-harley-sportster-leaked/

"Fuel capacity: 3.302 gal" Which is about the same as my old Kawasaki Vulcan S, got around 150 miles per tank. Not bad IMO. I literally just talked to the HD dealer in my area, and what he told me was that the switch will always be on the bike, but it may or may not be connected to anything, so you would need to either buy the grips and connection separately or work it into your deal. The one thing I'm not particularly fond of is the brownish-gold engine accents

Some additional gripes I have with my Sportster S. 1. The placement of the indicator button, hard to reach intuïtively, often pressing the horn. 2. The placement of the High beam switch. Also a lot of accidental high beam usage. 3. The Software, a lot of work to be done there. 4. The HD-app for smartphone, also a lot of room for improvements. (not really the biks, but it kind of comes with it). 5. The exhaust note on a cold start-up. Very metally banging sound, yuck! 6. The linkage with the forward controls feels very loose and indirect, sometimes it won't shift because of this. (Had it checked by HD, it is what it is.) 7. Rear brake is virtually useless unless stamped on. (Sportster Iron had really great rear brakes) 8. Would've expected a double front brake set-up for this kind of money/Tires/weight. I have about 3000Km on mine, mostly commuting. Learning to love it more and more, but it certainly has it flaws. Subscribed! Thanks for these vids!

People have said "That is not a Harley" every time Harley Davidson has changed engine designs. I wonder what engine would they like? Flathead, Knucklehead,Shovelhead or Evolution. Things have to change or Harley Davidson would not be competitive with the other brands. There are some things I do not like about the sportster S. I do like the fact that is being made. I hope it does well. I have sat on one but not ridden one. My biggest problem with it is it is too small for my liking. It was not designed for someone 6'3". The Pan America fits me much better. The exhaust needs changed for my taste. It does not have to be real loud. It is almost silent.

@@miguelgutierrez3720 that's not as bad as people make it out to be! My 2018 Sportster gets about 75-80 miles before my fuel gauge and fuel light come on. I then have roughly 30ish until its empty. I checked one out at my local HD dealership yesterday. It's a cool looking bike with a lot of cool features. But after sitting on it, it seemed small to me, and the riding position is awkward. I am a shorter guy I think the forward controls would be fine once I get the bars where I needed them. I also hated the clutch had to let it out a long way to get into the zone. Technology wise, this bike has the latest tech that Harley has been missing since a very long time. It is just like how Royal Enfields got their technology bumped in the recent days. Yes. The common upgrade of technology being moving from the age-old push rod setup to the overhead camshafts. However, though I understand you can't have an exact sounding harley with the new tech that it comes with, Harley Davidson could have done a better job at making it sound like its existing bikes with the Evolution engines. Royal Enfields - inspite of moving to the SOHC setup from pushrods, they still sound like an RE (just that it is quiter).

Nice video, not much to complain about it seems. The grips thing is one of those "Harley things" that make you look like a chump when dealing with their overpriced stuff :) Have you experimented with the rear shock absorbtion setting? How good is it in the most "gentle" setting on a relatively bumpy road?
@TyFromTennessee3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the heated grips are a bummer. I haven’t started working with the shock system yet, but is probably next ! Thanks for watching!!
@fernandosestini33732 жыл бұрын
I tried the softer setting on the shocks, it does allow enough adjustment, but it’s definitely not like the bigger bikes from Harley. A descent amount stiffer for sure, probably due to the anoint of power and handling Harley intended. The hard setting it’s like a super sport hard, the soft setting is in between that and soft. If you have back problems , this setup wouldn’t be great for ya. Even if lowering tire pressure, still a stiffer suspension for sure…. Overall I’m ok with it, because the handling it’s pretty awesome for a cruiser/sport motorcycle…. Hope that gives some insight on this subject 😃

5 reasons i did not like the sportster s: 1: Small hard rubber grips (thicker grips would be nice) 2: seat support is non-existent. 3: Foot Pegs not in a "sporty" position. 4: Lack of feel on the signal button. 5: Kickstand makes it lean too much. Heated grips thing is just that kind of BS Harley does that people are tired of! Same with the forward controls as stock. With forward bars the body position is going to be like a half unfolded lawn chair. I think most people will opt for mid controls for another $700! That huge front tire is very wedged. I have to imagine as it gets worn the handling will just get worse.

Seems like a lot of the complaints are coming from the aspect of touring rather than sport. The engineering behind the Sportster S is trying to attract a new type of rider. The tank size is ample for a standard style bike. Heated grips? It’s a standard style bike. No space for a phone & GoPro? The cam can be mounted on a helmet rather easily. I doubt anyone thinks about all the extra tech when they buy. Storage?? Dude, this is a standard style of bike, not a couch queen’s Ultra Limited lol No aftermarket, tell me you’re picking at crumbs here dude.
