Assuming I am eligible for $100 (for easy calculation) worth of dividends, 1) Does it mean I will receive $70 in my IBKR account after tax? 2) Do I have to declare this income to IRAS? 3) If I don't declare to IRAS, will IBKR inform or send any kind of statement to IRAS? 4) In short, will IRAS know that I have this 'side' income? People bullish on Apple need to remember just a few years ago Apple's outlook wasn't looking so rosy. Growth was stagnant and strongly reliant on the Iphone. The smart phone market was fully saturated and sales of Iphone were for essentially replacement phones. Fast forward to the past few years and what's change? Actually, not a whole lot on Apple's side which still largely relies on the Iphone. The Iphone is still an iterative device featuring few yearly improvements. What has changed was it's China market share due to the fall of Huawei. These are windfall profits for Apple and likely to wane over the next few years . The M1 chip is great, but still unlikely to dominate the PC market the way the Iphone does in the US. Apple's earning calls these past few years are mirages and not likely to continue forever.

Very good insights. But on the china risk…. Arent all S&P500 companies exposed since they are US companies. So feels more like a broader based risk rather then a risk that is specific to Apple. Case in point, china is not using western vaccines, and US biopharm companies dont get to ride the upside of distribution to china market.

Thank you for sharing. Just a sharing of my thought, I may be wrong. Due to the Ukraine war, the sanction on Russia will reduce the market share for 15%, probably it may be compensated by the shortage of chip. The next 2 quarters should reflect the consequences of sanction. Hopefully not too bad.

10 years ago, IBM was a household name, just like Apple is now. But where is IBM now? 20 years ago, Japanese brands are top companies. What happened to Sony, Panasonic, Toyota.....??? So my point is, every ten years, top companies change hands. 10 years ago, if you have not own any Apple, it's too expensive to buy now. So u r better off now buying penny stock (less than 20 dollars) eg SOFI and PLTR. 10 years down, these companies will become the next apple / tesla.
