Bellissimo! In my opinion, this is one of the nicest reviews of both pedals! ❤

Depends on your rig, guitar, amp and if you´re using a drivepedal to push a clean amp or distorted. SD-1 works better with humbuckers in a driven amp, tightens the bottom. TS is better with strat and fender type clean amps. Both are great pedals.

Totally agree !, it depends on your rig. In this case I've played in this video with a Gibson Les Paul with P90s, not humbuckers. Amplitube blackface like clean sound and I prefer the SD-1. Of course It is all a question of taste, everyone has their own choice. Single coils + Fender clean = TS. Humbuckers + crunch Marshall = SD1, but there are many other combinations that are worth mentioning. Thanks of watching and commenting!!

@@Gasguitargear Hi, I just found my old MIT SD-1 from eighties. The input jack was broken and I had just stashed it away. Fixed the issue and made a comparison with my SD-1 from 2015. The old one had a fuller sound and very nice overdrive. Have to mod it though, the old ones used ACA-adaptors and my board runs on regular 9 volts... Have a nice day!

@@jukkamurto2411 Enjoy it, it's an excellent and underrated overdrive. Have a nice day too!!

I think the complete opposite because the sd1 has a little more drive so when you're going into a fender clean amp the tube screamer doesn't have enough ass the sd1 gives you a little more for breakup
@jukkamurto24114 ай бұрын
@@jimmythorpe4368 Yes I agree, but they have a different midrange push and low end tightening, a matter of personal taste and playing style I guess... A strat with a fender amp is a wonderful match developed side by side and a TS seems to fit in among those frequences. I started out with SD-1 & Gibson/marshall, a clean Fender amp and a singlecoil strat was a nightmare for many years until I found Stevie Ray and started working for real chops ha ha ha,,,

I own, and like both, but I do like the SD-1 better.

I also prefer the SD1 to the TS. Especially in front of "gain-er?" Marshall style amps. Still like the TS for Fenders though.
@MrJesusCrisp Жыл бұрын
I'm sorry, but you're comparing symmetrical/asymmetrical clipping with the gain completely down? You won't hear clipping differences there! ;)

I am increasing the gain throughout the video.Thanx for watching and commenting!

The tube screamer has more volume and drive , pretty close
@Gasguitargear Жыл бұрын
There are subtle differences. Yes, TS has more drive but IMHO SD1 has a little more volume, that was my perception. Thanks for Watching and commenting!

Super overdrive is better in every department than TS . Due to symmetrical clipping , TS sounds like blanket over the speaker and tone control doesn't help đuch. with it
@jimmythorpe43684 ай бұрын
Yeah I can explain it it just does something.. but I like what you said it's just like it puts a blanket over it or something it just is missing something and sd1 has more gain if your amp is super clean

I think this 2 pedals are very similar, so while boss cost 75 euro and maxon 150, for me il better boss!!!😁

I like the sd1 because it has a little more ass behind it

I own an SD-1 and a TS-9 and personally prefer the asymmetrical clipping of the SD-1 to the TS for what I do. Not that I use mid boosts much. I do mostly duo stuff with acoustic players, so no mix to cut through.

Depends on the usage. As a clean boost, Tubescreamer wins every time. I think both sound like shit as a base overdrive
@Gasguitargear Жыл бұрын
Certainly, it depends on the use you're going to give them. The Tubescreamer is a good overdrive with a classic sound that we all know. In my opinion, the SD-1 is a great and underrated overdrive that has a fantastic sound as a booster. As a base overdrive, it's clear that there are many more elaborate pedals than both of them.
@SpaceJockey805 Жыл бұрын
@@Gasguitargear Definitely. If I had to use one as my base, I’d probably choose the SD-1 since it doesn’t have harsh mids. Those Tubescreamer-mids are great as a boost. Since you have both pedals, maybe you can try to stack them? I would set the SD-1 the way you had it in the video, then put the Tubescreamer in front of it with these settings: Level at max, Drive at 0 and Tone at about 10 o’clock or so. I’d love to hear how that sounds.
@Gasguitargear Жыл бұрын
@@SpaceJockey805 Of course, as soon as I can I'll stack both pedals in another video 😉
