Now that ive rooted 70 fig cutting some in fig pops some in tree pots i noticed they were hungry for magnesium as soon as they started leafing after i foliar spray with cal-mag all my cutting are turning a healthy green and growing fast where as before they were barely growing.I also put my heat probe in the middle of the fig pop or tree pot and have had 100% roots

Thank you for this excellent explanation of breva. I'm in Florida and trying to figure this fig gig out. Can you suggest a few varieties of large sized, sweet figs that do well in hot humid climates?

I am new to this and I have alteady trialed different methods of rooting and only had success with fig pops, the biggest problem I have is not mixing nearly enough water in the soil as well as having problems with the bittom part of the bag drying out while the top is wet. I am currently trying to save some of my Negronie cuttings and celeste newly rooted cuttings, what I did wrong was letting the cuttings get a little too dry and then watering them tok much, would the cuttings benefit from poking holes in the bottom of the bag once I start watering them? Also I have one negrone cutting with lots of roots in the bag and it has 2 healthy buds that just dont wsnt to open they are large and look like they will open any day snd it's been almost a month since I started it, should I be concerned? I live just outside of Vancouver BC in zone 7b and I have never tried a home grown fig before, just the grocery store fresh and dried ones which look like brien turkey. Over the last few months I have gotten 13 different types of figs trees and cuttings: 1. Celeste 2. LSU Purple 3. Peters Honey 4. Little Rube 5. Chicago hardy 6. Beers Black 7. Spanish Black 8. Negrone 9. Latterula 10. Green Michuriska 11. Moscatel Preto 12. Col De Dame Blanc 13 Dessert King Im not sure about this one because its a random street tree I took cuttings from, and I am trying to indentfy the leaves on my rooted cuttings which are not full sized. So far these mistoury cuttings seem to be doing the best, I even had 3 of the cuttings in 1 bag because I was running out of bags and I had too many cutings, all three rooted very vigourusly, and when separating them I was carful but all three lost about half there roots, but they recovered really well with almost no transplant shock.

I can get roots like 99%. My problem is getting it to leaf out. How do you make them leaf out after you get good roots?

If you're making that many clones then you could probably switch to hydroponics. Hydroponics also allows you to flush the plants with fresh root-hormone every few days. Having them all in an aeroponic clone setup would also allow you to view two dozen or more set of roots at once. You just have to check the PH twice a day if things are growing rapidly, the TDS of the water would be low with lots of fresh root-hormone. IMO those bags are low-oxygen & more likely to root-rot in comparison to the speed of using an air pump in a soilless nursery setup.
