If Japanese people fully cooperate and follow their government's directive toward covid testing, people would say the Japanese are so good and know how to do the right thing. But when people in China do the same thing, you'll hear reports of how authoritative and draconian these government measured are. When it comes to reporting on China, the West practice blatant double standards.

Eat a lot but then walk a lot. I remember when my brother and I were in China, we walked so much everyday. Even when we were going to take the HSR, we still had to walk so much. At the end of the trip, we didn't gain any weight, but our feet were angry with us. By the way, the noodles in China were awesome. Most of the noodle shops we found, made the noodles from dough after we ordered the food.

i think it's great that people in china get out and exercise and keep active individually or in groups, especially elderly folk! it's something i'm sure the west would like to see more of. it's not good to sit isolated in your home away from other humans rotting away. humans are social creatures. the great thing also is that they have massive parks to do this in and it's probably safe for elderly and other folk to be out in the early morning and other times of the day exercising! they are doing all kinds of things such as tai chi, sword exercises, dancing, playing chess (exercise the mind), etc, etc... by the way, positive energy is exuding out of you so i can tell that china is having a positive effect on you!! you are grinning from ear to ear!

How much is health care and how much is the average income?
@LaowaiNiko3 жыл бұрын
My School Job provides me with private health care. Not sure how much they pay for that per month/year. Average income of a foreigner or Chinese working here ? or of a foreigner/school teacher like myself ?
@manimalworks74243 жыл бұрын
National health insurance is 320 Yuan per year in 2021. Covers 90% of the costs, your co-pay is 10%. Average income is a tough question, because it depends on where you are. In a first tier city like Shenzhen it’s over 20k US$, but in a 4th tier city like my hometown, it’s like $10k.

@laowainiko I really love your loves and dislikes of living in China. Some of your likes and dislikes are definitely very atypical from many of the Western vbloggers living in China. Like the “we’ and “face” are two cultural aspects out of your 5 reasons. That spells volume for a Westerner who is able to have such a good appreciation of Chinese culture. Maybe having a Chinese wife helps. Same as the part on the ‘Spitting’ habit and the ‘queue-jumping’ habits. Against two of the more ugly and un-civilized habits of Chinese culture which are still prevailing in many 2nd and 3rd-tiered cities but are fast fading away in 1st-tiered cities like Beijing or Shanghai. When I was living in Beijing almost twenty years ago, I thought it would take one whole generation to change such bad habits, but, I am glad to see that it takes less time than that, although it still needs to take a long time for the rest of China. Like someone says, the good things are still good and the bad things are improving. Just like the smog on Beijing twenty years ago when blue sky was a rarity. Now Beijing is enjoying much improved environment with lots of blue-sky days. Optimism is in the air..
