I have both in my collection. I've never considered one to be nicer or better looking than the other, nor have I ever thought of the reduced as an entry watch. Just a great watch that is increasing in value and looks great on the wrist. All very simple.

Your points for selling are well thought out. I will say two things: 1. The reduced Speedmaster looks appropriately proportioned on your wrist. 2. 99.99% of people would not notice any difference between the reduced and Pro versions. We watch enthusiasts make this up in our heads. People see general shapes and colors. The aesthetics of size and model are the bread and butter of enthusiasts. We look for reasons to sell one and buy another as if the logic is actually sound. It could be logical though. If I start digging ditches and my only watch is a Patek perpetual calendar, I would be justified in selling it, if I could only have one watch, and buying a G Shock. That said, if it was time for the watch to go then so be it. I totally get that. --Michael

I bought a speedmaster reduced back in 2001. It was for 8000 French Francs at the time - about 1200 EUR or so. It's been pretty much my daily watch all this time and so this is where it's got it's sentimental value for me!

The service cost is something that puts me off chronograph watches. I inherited a 1962 speedmaster and I am considering selling as I'm scared to wear it too much. I also bought my bb58 this year and love it, great watch 👍

To those who want the iconic look of the Speedy but have too small of a wrist to pull off the Pro, the Reduced is a great choice The size is perfect and it wears so slender on the wrist. I'd say its probably the only mechanical chronograph out there thats not quite vintage but has vintage proportions. While the service cost does take up a huge percentage of the cost of the watch itself...I'd just bite the bullet and get it done via Omega. It's a flat rate cost of $750 (same for the pro) and they replace all the hands, pushers and crystal too Dont regret mine one bit at all! Its a keeper for life and I dont think about the Pro anymore. Thanks for this video Oleg

Good video and I'm looking forward to your first impressions. After 10 years of really wanting one, I finally put down a deposit a couple of years ago. After learning that this reference was going to be replaced with the 3861, I decided to go for it. It is the most I have ever spent on a watch and cost more than my entire 4-watch collection combined. I'm not a rich guy and the price of the Speedy Pro always held me back. But, the events of 2020 cancelled a milestone birthday vacation in Europe and I finally thought, "What the h*ll. I do want to mark this birthday with something positive, after all of the negative we've had this year." I like your channel. Keep up the good work.

Interesting! Have the triple date. When I got it serviced by Omega last year, it cost almost as much as I paid for it used last century! Still can’t see selling it as it was my first cool watch, looks good on me, and I love all the complications. Thanks for the great videos!

My first "nice" watch was a Speedy Reduced back in the 90s. It had the same style OEM Omega bracelet and I found it to be a major hair-puller for me. It ended up shaving a perfect circle around my wrist. I switched to an OEM leather strap, then eventually sold it.

Happy New Year Oleg and Mr Bond! I’m definitely an Omega Speedmaster Professional fan. My current collection consists of Seiko/GS, Hamilton, Oris, and others. I’m trying reducing my collection from 46 to something more manageable and also so I can eventually purchase the Speedy Pro. I recently let go of a Hamilton Frogman and am selling another Hamilton. Also selling off my 2 Alpina Alpiners. With that I’m down to 42 and I’ll hopefully get 40 in the beginning of the year.

Seagull 1963 is probably the chrono for me, for now, and eventually an Omega Speedmaster Reduced. These watches will be the correct porportions for my wrist. As for my collection, all I'm aiming to add is a watch I pre-ordered that arrives in February. Other than that, I'm not looking to add for now, unless I free up the money or 2 Hamilton's and a Longines that I want to purchase. Stay safe, and Happy New Year.

I got my Reduced last January in part because of your vids. I'll stick with it though. Great size for me. I could probably pull off the Pro, but haven't actually tried one one. Maybe it's better than way for now. I feel like it would be a borderline size on me and I can't spend 5-6 grand for something that I may occasionally doubt the fit of.

Pro is borderline on my 7.35” left wrist. Was tempted by a reduced I saw in a shop window a year ago but hesitated on the modular movement and offset pushers. My wife got me the pro on the gator with separately purchased speedy pro bracelet for our anniversary. Wear it all the time and keep polishing the Hesalyte. Still haven’t used the bracelet. Have it on the NATO from the box. This is my favorite NATO: so supple that I actually like the traditional NATO fold because it’s so unobtrusive on top of wrist, all business color, signed buckle and keeper. Omega gator strap is superb, under appreciated in my view. The signed deployant is in matching finish to the watch, signed, mechanically seamless, and deployant wings are LONG enough to slip the watch over my hand with NO fuss so I can better enjoy the wind off the wrist. Looking for the perfect rubber strap to complete the outfit. Needs to be 20 mm at the lugs and 18 to fit the Omega deployant I already have on the gator. I want the watch ends rounded to snug up to the case. Got a Strapie rubber but its deployant is short winged, mechanically insecure, painful to slip over the hand, and untapered so I can’t fit my Omega deployant buckle. My next chrono will be a 38 mm El Primero. The size is perfect for me, newest leather strap is curved at the lugs and snug to the case. The deployant opens wide enough to slip off but secure and mechanically smooth. I love the 4:30 date: readable without turning the wrist square. That 400 movement: high beat, first integrated automatic chrono. It’s 100M water resistance makes me feel less afraid it might get wet. Failed to move on a mint with blue dial, box, papers and extra bracelet to my continued regret. Happy New Year to you, your fiancé, and Bond. When are you going to announce a date? You won’t regret it. My speedy pro came on my 40th anniversary.

Happy new year Oleg and Mr Bond! 2020 wasn't a good year for anyone, so fingers crossed for 2021. Reg the speedmaster, I was in the market for a Speedy Auto to add to my collection. However I was surprised by my wife who bought me a Speedy professional, big box etc for my 50th birthday. Its a cracking piece and a watch that I get many comments on. It has a unique back story and feels like your wearing a piece of history on your wrist. My advice would be to go for it, you won't be disappointed.

Great Video Oleg! You gave 5 reason to sell this great watch but really only needed 1-2. You stated it perfectly. As a chronograph freak I just bought another chronograph (Victorinox Air Boss w/7750) for cheap. For the money a great watch. But at 42 mm and 15 mm thick it wears big (what I actually wanted). But now I'm selling it. Why? White dial and silver hands are difficult to see easily in low light. I know this rule but broke it again thinking the light green lume on the silver hands would make it more visible. But no. Don't be fooled! So now I need a little advice and may give some to you as well. I'm thinking hard about a Zenith Type 20 Pilot's chronograph with El Primero at 45 mm (a traditional size for a pilot's watch). Like you (7 1/2" wrist size) it's bigger than my 39-42 mm standard size I normally wear. So it's a tough call and I wouldn't mind your advice. I've also been looking at a new Type 20 watch from Airain. You might look at this watch, it's has some outstanding features (looks, manual wind, fly-back feature, movement). Just a recommendation for you to look at. Hey Oleg, by the way, my wife and I just got a new dog 2 months ago from our shelter after our Frenchy "Brie" passed away 9 months ago. She's 11 months old, 50% French bulldog and a mini-aussie mix. She's about the size of Bond (27 lbs) but looks more like a larger sized short-haired Jack Russel. She's a crazy good dog with more energy I've seen in a dog and jumps like a White Tailed deer when she's in the brush. Keep up the good work!

Nice video Oleg. Loving your enthusiasm. I've owned a Speedmaster Pro for about 20 years. Waxing and waning at times is part of the fun of collecting watches. And it's not always about and nor should it be about 'trading up'. I also own a Rolex Submariner...not to mention a hatful of other highly collectible pieces...but have just bought a Seiko Mini Turtle. Why? Because I think it's a really cool watch that also represents great value. Whichever way, keep up the good work my man and keep looking after Mr. Bond! HNY from the other side of the pond :-)

Thing is - my watch, unlike my car, doesn't need more Newton Meters of Torque that will accelerate me faster. A bigger engine really doesn't matter all that much anymore when acceleration and top speed are both limited to 1 second per second. If Engine A can do 1 second per second, and more Expensive Engine B can do better but will still be limited to 1 second per second... then Engine A will do.

I too sold my Reduced earlier this year but for entirely different reason. I already have a Speedmaster Pro so having both watches was somewhat redundant. I dont consider the 42mm an upgrade. I get the historic part of the watch, but lets face it..I am not ever going to the Moon. When I pay 8000€ for a watch I expect it to have at least an automatic movement, sapphire crystal, and at least 100m water resistance. The reduced had the perfect size, had sapphire crystal, was automatic, the only downside was the 30m wr which was compensated by the overal price.

Myself also started out with the reduced, and loved it; but since my wrists are big enough to wear the professional, I eventually upgraded. Both watches are great, but if you're wrists are big enough for the professional, I always tend to recommend it to people over the reduced because many of the reasons you mentioned in the video.

I have a couple of affordable chronographs, but I realized I'm not a chronograph type. In the end, I tend to gravitate towards dress watches, or anyway "business casual" ones. Still, your chrono wish list is a charm - best wishes with it, and I hope you enjoy your future purchases!

Hi Oleg. I was close to buying a Speedmaster reduced over a year ago but I saw receipts on repair costs and ranging from 500 to 1100 USD I decided to not get it. I do not have a proper chronograph. I have a mechaquartz but that is not a real mechanical one and hope to get one. The regular Speedmaster professional is too big and heavy for me. I have a small wrist. I heard the Omega first watch in space but a little smaller. I don't have many details yet but maybe something worth looking into.

I have had numerous chronographs and am prejudiced in favor of native or integrated chronographs as opposed to modular chronographs. Similarly, I am prejudiced in favor of manual wind chronographs, preferably without a date complication. The iconic Speedy is one of the Professional references. Ironically, my current Omega is the 2014 Mark II reissue with the 3330 caliber which is a souped up coaxial Valjoux 7750 with silicon escapement and silicon balance wheel. I like form watches and love the particular bracelet. I would generally state that I find it hard to conceive of having a watch collection without at least one Omega to one’s liking. I have gone down the rabbit hole of multiple Parmigiani, Rolex and Grand Seiko references and I still find an Omega in the collection to be both quite satisfying and essential.

I have a Zenith chronomaster triple date Moonphase already but that’s my “super dressy watch”. Rarely wear it. I’m in canada too. Where do you sell your watches? Happy new year.

Bought a Zenith A384 revival......because it’s beautiful........gorgeous really. I’ve worn it maybe 2 hours. To me it’s too small for my taste even having it on my wrist at Calgary jewellers when I walked out with it. Know exactly what you mean, and I’m torn about letting it go. Best for 2021

I have the same model, just picked it up recently. I think you points for selling it are legit. It is my first chronograph so we'll see how long it stays in my collection.

Most people it seems, just replace the chrono module. I heard you can order them for like 120$. Just service the time movement, I don't even use my chrono.

Great video - I'll be watching more of your channel 👍 for those in the market for a Speedmaster reduced and something a bit different I'd recommend looking at the white dial 3510.20 from the early 90s. Essentially, a white dial version of the reduced but with a slightly cleaner dial. I purchased one from 1993 recently in mint condition and it's stunning - pics don't do it justice. Despite the exorbitant service cost I'll likely encounter one day I can't imagine ever selling it.

I prefer the Mark 40 to the reduced, I’d either have that or a proper professional. Excellent comment on the servicing costs Oleg!!

Good analogy with cars Oleg, never thought of it that way. Great move to sell btw. I think you are due for an upgrade. How about that Grand Seiko snowflake you seemed to like ? :) Happy New Year and take care. Peace out ✌🏼

FOIS is my Speedmaster of choice. Also like the Heuer 160th in silver. Think it’s a great re-edition if you like racing chronos.

I love chrono's, I never liked the dial layout on the reduced. I have owned 3 Pro's...I love them but always seemed a bit big, I prefer 38mm to 40mm. I recently picked up the 60th Anniversary Speedmaster and it is nearly perfect and so much different than the Pro but has all the DNA. I considered the Zenith El Primero 38mm but I don't care for the date, blingy bracelet and the fact WIS know Zenith but others don't and it would be hard to buy one right enough to sell it without a loss once I tired of it. The things we sell ourselves in why we keep or sell a watch. I found you based on your Black Bay 58 buying experience, I am waiting to pick mine up on Saturday...looking forward to it.
