Why doesn't Vegas just do a major Airshow. Weather is cooler in November. Close the Strip down and let people bring chairs and watch from rooftop bars.

I was in LV 4 times this year. The Grand Prix made things unbearable. Being 150 feet from the Signature Suite auto entrance and waiting 40 minutes to get across Harmon and in the driveway. My friends with money say "the race was worth it." My friends not in the high economic groups thought overall it was a "horrible" experience.
@JimboInTheHouse18 ай бұрын
I'll never understand why they ran that through the strip when the whole damned place is in a desert, a flat landscape. They could put it anywhere outside of town and still have access, just like the new sports venues. F1 is stupid.

Was there in September while they were setting up and we took a cab from Tropicana to linq and wow the way the driver had to go to get around all the blockages and construction was crazy. He was going down one way roads and behind casinos I thought he was taking us somewhere it was ridiculous. We walked rest of trip . Parked at Tropicana or TI for free parking and walked anywhere from there.

Hi, glad that Caroline is back. I just think that the F1 event is too much on the people who need to get to work. It's just one more money making schemes are not always good for Vegas. I appreciate the slow period to take in the sights and hopefully win at the slots. I hope you had a great Christmas. I love all your great content.

Why does everyone ignore the fact that the "landmarks" being destroyed are property of the casino's that hosted guests during the F1 weekend? If they want to build structures on their land they're under no obligation not to block views "for the greater good". Also, your complaining about event's taking away from local businesses whilst wearing a Raiders top , the Raiders move would have killed hundreds of small businesses / jobs in the Oakland area. Move with the times.
@NOTLeavingLV8 ай бұрын
1. Yes you’re correct that is their property. 2. While the teams move did take jobs from the Bay Area, it created more jobs here than it took there, with the area near the stadium here creating new businesses that didn’t exist before.

I THOUGHT THE F-1 WAS AMAZING BUT I WOULD NOT VISIT LAS VEGAS DURING F-1 DUE TO THE MASSIVE AMOUNT OF PEOPLE AND TRAFFIC. ALTHOUGH I DON’T VISIT LAS VEGAS DURING NEW YEARS, SUPER BOWL, CES SHOW, TRASHY PORN CONVENTIONS, RIDICULOUS ANIME CONVENTIONS, EDM WEEK ETC…… THE F-1 WAS AND IS ALWAYS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING TO WATCH. THE TALENT OF THOSE DRIVERS WILL NEVER BE MATCHED. I CAN’T STAND THE STRIP MOST OF THE TIME ANYWAY. I’M A DOWNTOWN LAS VEGAS 4 QUEENS GUY. ONCE I’M DOWN THERE, I NEVER LEAVE DOWNTOWN. AMAZING FOOD, HOTELS, GAMBLING, BOOZE, PEOPLE WATCHING AND YOU DON’T HAVE TO FIGHT THE TRAFFIC OF THE STRIP. I RARELY COME DURING FRIDAY AND SATURDAY SINCE THE CROWDS ARE SO CRAZY THEN. IF IT’S CRAZY BUSY, I NEVER EVEN LEAVE THE BARTOP VIDEO POKER AT THE 4 QUEENS.

Vegas already has a motor speedway for Nascar that hosts two races a year. It is real puzzling why there can't be an F-1 track developed next to it at the least. But no, they had to spend an unnecessary amount of money and time blocking views on the overpasses and construct an inordinate amount of temporary structures just so the media stakeholders can ingest a diabolic amount of eye candy that most in the U.S. don't already have.
@NOTLeavingLV8 ай бұрын
Not puzzling. The F1 wanted the backdrop of the strip. I do understand why. It’s so pretty out there. This is also why the race was run at night.

Not puzzling why did the build Allegiant stadium next to the strip….corporate greed
@johnpatterson42728 ай бұрын
Las Vegas has lost its affordable cache' in the 21st century. It's all corporate now to attract well-heeled tourists to the expensive restaurants, arena shows/games and those who see themselves as high-rollers in the casino's. The fun and unique Vegas experience has been financially quantified/reduced to added resort fees, parking costs for the vehicle you don't take there and very few 'big-win payouts'. Current development has slowed considerably in the last 5 years as crime has increased, likely a good indication Vegas is on a slow-burn downward spiral.
@bobm74998 ай бұрын
I purposely avoided LV while the F1 was going on. Traffic issues; high prices; closed off areas and difficulty walking on the Strip. No thanks! It was all about $ and to be sure plenty of entities made $, but what about the people who had to work on the Strip? A nightmare commute for months. All this for a race that lasted a couple of hours? Really? Greed trumps all.
@stefanschwalenberg83208 ай бұрын
I changed my usual vacation plans this past November due to the nightmares that all of the F1 construction was causing. I will do so again if the city council doesn't grow a pair and push back against the F1 bigwigs' demands, especially regarding road closures and the like. This past year, Vegas bent over backward to give F1 what it wanted. Next year I say it's F1's turn to take it up the bum from the citizens of LV.

As far as F1 goes, I was not in Vegas during the race, and I have absolutely no desire to go next year when they have it - for a multitude of reasons (most notably 1- I'm not a racing fan, and 2- the increased room rates up and down the Strip). You make some good points. I'm sure the traffic was horrific and it's a shame some Mom and Pop places suffered financially from it. But all of it does serve as making Vegas more and more the Entertainment Capital of the World. Front-line performers, Raiders football, Golden Knights hockey, F1 racing, E-Sports, big conventions, and the up-coming "Oakland" A's. I'm surprised the WWE doesn't stake a claim in Vegas too (even though I hate wrestling). I guess that's the appeal of Vegas - something for everyone. Steven, I watch your videos because they are informative and thought-provoking. This one was as well. Forgive me, but I don't think it was necessary to have a caption of the "5 reasons Vegas may not bounce back" when this video really wasn't about that. But you know better about that than me. You know Vegas is thriving with revenue increasing on the whole year after year, so I doubt that it needs to "bounce back".
@mark83378 ай бұрын
Sure. But it’s all about the money, as they say. That’s why F1 went in.

I would like to compare it to the Huntington Beach Airshow. It brings Millions of people to town. Only difference is F1 takes too long to prepare for and also forces roads to close. Similarly the Airshow attempts to capitalize on it by now fencing off the entire left side of the beach for 3 or 4 miles and charge people 30 dollars. You can still see it from allot of places including the Right side of the pier and from multiple areas. I watched it from the Huntington Beach Bungalow which is an elevated rooftop bar. 3 stories up on the Pacific City Mall.
@MileGenco8 ай бұрын
The race was a good idea but the location of the track was poor. People come to see a race and I would guess they don't care if it is near their hotel or 5 miles away. 5 or 10 miles away would have had substantially less negative impacts and spread the positive benefits across a broader spectrum. But that is the point, perhaps the people who set up the race wanted to maximize their profits and wanted to minimize the profits of everyone outside of their group. Hurting the non race going tourists will continue to hurt the casinos that lost out for many years. Essentially, the creators of the race have set a block of time in the mind of many tourists when not to go to Las Vegas.

We do "one" of our Vegas Strip trips, prior to Thanksgiving every year , we cancelled this year due to F1. We're thankful to the Vegas bloggers that showed us what was going on. What a disaster. We really missed having an Italian dinner at Battista's and the gaming, among other things .The usual traffic is congested enough on the Strip. The NFL draft fiasco was bad enough. LVCA , give some thought your regular visitors, not just the $$$$ from F1.

Las Vegas is used to handling large events. The problem is most of those events did not inconvenience anyone going anywhere near the strip for over 6 months. It did not help that the promoter was touting how great it was to have such a minor event in the scheme of things was for the area. Don't wee on our legs and tell us it is raining.

Thanks for a great video. We watched the Vegas F1 over in England and were surprised how little of the Vegas you actually got to see! Then we stayed for 7 nights over Christmas and it was VERY clear talking to Uber drivers, restaurant staff etc that it was not a popular experience at all. We were just glad to see most stuff was back to normal by the time we got there on December 21st. It was our 6th trip from England, our first since 2019… and we’ve decided to take a break again - hoping F1 does its 3 year stint and then LV thinks again??
@yesher128 ай бұрын
We go to Vegas 3-4 times a year from Texas and we bring our motorhome and stay at LVMR on Arville so we don't have to deal with the strip. We are serious VP players and we play off strip at Red Rock and Orleans, mostly. Several of us wanted to see the Sphere experience of Postcards from Earth(May not be the correct name but oh well). We decided to go the Monday after F1 and we picked up an Uber from Orleans to the Sphere and it took 45 mins of insane traffic. Big mistake. The Sphere was cool on the outside but the movie inside had too much preachiness about climate stuff but the views inside that sphere, the sounds and the haptics of rockets to bugs was incredible. We didn't see that much more of a crowd in any of the off strip casinos that I previously mentioned so F1 didn't bother us too much but I can see if you were anywhere near the The Strip it was insanity. They just need to build an F1 track out there in the desert and leave The Strip alone.

@NOTLeavingLV8 ай бұрын
Unlikely as the casinos need to report gaming revenue as it is taxed on is reported on for tax reasons. If you’re referring to the small businesses not sure. Somewhere like Ellis island has the super 8 so they can quantify it and Ferraros could report 2022 vs 2023.

I don't like it at all. I feel it kept many usual visitors away. Those who gamble went elsewhere, and perhaps they found a better experience in a different setting. They may not return to Vegas. I would never visit in November now.
