I got the Ecoboost as a daily driver and it has been great. Decent on gas if you drive it normally, and can be fun when you want it to be. I am not a big car guy so this car goes as fast as I will ever need it to be. I never driven faster than 200km/h(125miles/h) and I don't think I ever will. So this is actually the perfect car for a single guy like me as a daily. Now I just need a bronco haha

The eco boost or V6 coupe is likely going to be my first car if I go for leasing a mustang. Not only is it more cost and fuel efficient, but I don’t think a new/young driver can handle a V8 engine. I’m paying for all of it with my own money as well, so it’s going to be exciting. Can’t wait to go 80 on the highway with the windows open 😂

I hate to admit it, but I agree. When I bought my Eco I didn’t think I would care, but I found that I did. A few times somebody in a GT next to me would rev their engine and really make it growl to just let me know. I’ve mostly gotten over it. To cheat I put 2.3T badges on the fenders and I have active exhaust with four pipes, so from a distance and squinting into the sun it might look a bit like a GT LOL. Naw, not fooling anyone. I do love it at the pump, however. And insurance is much less. So basically the money I saved went into a retirement account.

Good analysis. Always assumed I would get a GT but as little as I drive and now in my 50’s the Ecoboost made more sense. Last April I looked at the last of the 2020s at local dealers and bought an Eco Premium with MSRP $37K for $26K out the door. Just could not justify spending so much more. Do I regret it? Yes, I’d rather have the GT - But I’ve come to really like my four banger Pony and it’s been great fun so far. On a trip to South Texas I did average 32 miles per gallon and that was driving mostly back roads at 80 mph and passing often.

Good choice. I bought a new MY 2020 Ecoboost convertible in late 2019 to replace my ageing Aston Martin Vantage. The Mustang of course costs a fraction to run compared to the Aston, and is so easy to drive. Also it’s fast enough for the fair weather cruising I like to do, with enough oomph for overtakes. Today I was enjoying a nice drive in the spring sunshine with my shades on, the roof back and Steely Dan playing, when I was passed by a VW Golf R doing at least 30 over the speed limit. “Good luck to you”, I thought. “I hope you don’t meet a farm vehicle, and I don’t envy your passenger”.

I happened to be back and saw your question. I can’t believe my good fortune, just before, Ford sent me a coupon for $2000 off, including even Mustang which is usually excluded, and I caught the dealer wanting to clear one of their two remaining 2020 models in April 2021. They had huge aged inventory discounts, and also took off a bit more for military discount. I was trading a 2004 Thunderbird and the sales manager really wanted that car, so they lowered the price of the Mustang a little more to make up for not being able to give me what I wanted for the trade. The timing was perfect, not long after all the chip shortages started and I probably never could have saved so much. Sometimes the stars just align. Not usually my experience for acar purchase!

I bought my 2021 Mustang GT specifically for the power. I have the 6-speed manual and I drive my GT like I stole it. I got a good deal and i really bought the car for the engine and transmission. I get 14-19 mpg depending on how far i drive., I considered buying an Ecco boost premium but i can't deal with the stigma and the lack of power of the 4 banger. Most people i know get the V8 or at least dream of owning the V8 version.

We have a 2019 Premium EcoBoost and a 2021 Premium GT PP1. The gas mileage difference between the two are negligible. 23-27 mpg vs. 21-24 mpg, because if you want to have any fun with the 4 cylinder at all, because it is still a heavy car, you have to engage those turbos, which decreaes your fuel efficiency. If you drive it like a Ford Fusion, the gas mileage improves, but 😴 💤 The EcoBoost is cheaper to buy and maintain. And it doesn't suck to drive. Mods are easy and simple. They're great cars. I don't have anything negative to say about them, beyond the fact that they sound terrible. I think that most people who are using their cars who just drive on the road from point a to point b would be better served to buy an EcoBoost. I track my car, so a GT is a minimum for me.
@CptLang97
@CptLang97 Жыл бұрын
That's my experience. I got the EB for a daily. Gas mileage isn't great so far, but it's all big city driving, it's winter (warm up time and sitting in it hyping myself up to go out in the cold) and I still dip my foot in a little further than I should. It's on par with my wife's 2.4 n/a 6at crossover, and a whole hell of a lot better than my v10 3/4 ton truck. I was looking for a 4cyl manual car, preferably coupe/2 door hatchback. Mustang topped the list because it's turbo and rwd. The only other car that competes with the EB Mustang is the EcoTec Camaro, which is just a worse car in every way imo. Next down the list was a BRZ/FR-S, but they're less fun, not to mention pretty cramped for me @6'3". Test drove the mustang and couldn't even bring myself to try out one of the fwd options.

My eco stock was giving me about 26mpg but then cobb stage 1 actually went to 29mpg. Not enough power, so went Tune+ with Wagner intercooler and exhaust and then went back to around 24-25mpg. And this was with a pull every single time i drive her. i would baby it on the motorway, but i would utterly back her through a few gears as soon as the oil warmed up and i sat at 25. There is guy named Jessie Ringley. He is the owner of Engineered motor solutions (EMS). He just took his Ecoboost to Ponies in the Smokies. His ecoboost is reliably putting down 1000hp. His setup is pretty wild! They have a built block that they sell called the Babubu block that is designed to work around 800hp. I’m not sure what his different about his, but still insane to think about. I own an ecoboost and love it. I have thought about doing the Babubu block or maybe the new Ecobeast block from Ford Performance that has been tested for 500whp. Time will tell!

I barely can use 330 hp on my ecoboost on any given day or drive. I have no idea and still don't have any idea what the point of spending X amount more for a car that looks exactly the same that has 130 more horsepower is. I can't even use the ecoboost's full power anywhere ever. The ONE and only thing I want a GT for is sound, I do miss that, but that ONE thing is not justifiable to spend how much more just so you can tell people "I have a 5.0". Everywhere I go in traffic, everywhere I park I get complimented on my Ecoboost so why would I bother with a GT 😂

I am so upset with myself, I went from a GT to the Ecoboost, and I am still happy with it, but I would much rather have the V8. But considering the difference between the years of the car, an 03 V8, to a 19 Ecoboost, I think I am happy there, and I travel more so I'm good there, and I am in my 50s so I should probably slow down, lol. But I kick myself in the butt sometimes. So I have both upgraded and downgraded, but I am still having a good time with my new Ecoboost mustang. I just bought the 22 GT Premium with the V8 with the thought will be more of a classic Mustang when the V8 are gone & won't be putting that many miles on it since I'm retire now and I also have a 1995 F-250 that I will drive more than the GT that will be more as a fun car driven in good weather. I did get the 10 speed auto, originally wanted the manual, I had a 14 base V6 with the manual but I was the only one that could drive it and my daughter was learning since I wanted to give her the car, but when she got was on a hill and it had a stop sign and had cars right behind her leaving little space between the car, she said she was not comfortable with driving it, and my old lady never drove a stick. My daughter probably keep the GT w/the auto when she inherits it w/low miles and from a old guy that didn't beat on it, and I may be thinking do I really want to be driving a manual as I get older. I have to say the GT Premium is a amazing car and I have no regrets with the auto. If you are young, maybe your first car going with the eco boost and a manual may be your best choice. My V6 manual was a fun car and good on gas. You may want to check insurance rates before buying a GT. When I was young many moons ago I bought a one year old used 1978 Chevrolet Camaro 350 4 barrel, I was shock that it was $2500 a year for insurance that was a lot of money back then, the car cost $6000. Only kept it for nine months because of the insurance cost and also paying insurance on a F-100 I needed for work. The difference in the ins. was only $30 a month which not much since the 14 Mustang is 8 years old and the GT is new. It pays to be a safe driver so try not to race your Mustang around to much & you will spend less on gas. There may be plenty of GT's that you can buy from old guys in the near future that didn't beat on the car so its a low milage GT that is in really good shape. Since these former GT owners now can only get around with their brand new GT walkers with a racing stripe down the side. Whatever one you buy, drive safe so you can enjoy your Mustang, remember its still a Mustang regardless what is under the hood.

In my experience, the very first thing V8 lovers gripe about with the EcoBoost is the exhaust sound...If you add a tune and bolt-ons with the NX2 you'll be at comparable power 5.0 output with a 53/47 weight distribution, either way you'll pay to play, and I ordered a fully optioned out premium High Performance Package with all the goodies...The tune & performance bolt-ons are next, I already lowered it on the magne-ride with the handling package and added the GT350R brembo 6 piston fronts & 4 piston rears with e-brake drums in the hats, plus staggered rims/tires

The ecoboosts are not cheap cars either, then you also have to run premium fuel for it to run good while the v8 runs fine on 87. The exhaust sounds okay but nothing like the v8. Its a nice car and good for the money and even faster than the old gt’s. But you can get a used v8 for cheaper is not a bad option either. Im impressed with the 2.3’s reliability. I cant find any complaints on that motor.

Yes very true. Also, there are some people who doesnt really want to spend excessive money just to get the GT even if they can afford. There are couple reasons: 1) Some people doesnt really find the gt useful, imagine living in a city with traffic jams being a main problem, some people dont see the point of spending more money for the gt when the money could be used for something more useful to them. I live in a city and I see most mustangs here are ecoboosts, and I can actually understand that. 2) Expensive insurance 3) Expensive maintanence 4) Expensive road tax ( probably not all countries, but for mine yes) So yeah, main reason is due to the money savings, and also some people probably doesnt see the point of getting the gt.

Yea the gt is overall better but tbh the ecoboost does have benefits too. If you want to save more fuel, the ecoboost is the option. Also, the ecoboost could be more of a daily driver car. The GT could be fun due to the great v8 sound but the ecoboost feels lighter to drive. Also, if you own the gt, the cost of maintanence is generally more expensive and in some countries like mine, people who own the gt might suffer from more expensive road tax. So it really depends, I personally love the gt, but considering the place I live which is in a city, the ecoboost is more suitable for me. The GT could be little useless for me since traffic jam is a main problem here 😅.

im really debating on a Ecoboost or GT. cant decide. If i get an Ecoboost, im definitely going the mod/aftermarket route. new intake, new turbo, cams, boltons, new internals, exhaust, intercooler, new wheels, rims, maybe some exterior mods etc etc. If i get a GT, ill do maybe a supercharger, new intake, exhaust and thats about it. so im not reslly sure. i had a '21 Challenger GT (v6, bone stock, didnt even tint the windows) and i loved it, lots of fun but ended up totaling it so im in the market for a mustang now since i clearly cant afford a dodge🤣😭. so im really trying to decide if i get an ecoboost itll be my first 4cyl car, first mustang and first rwd car. if i get a GT itll be my first v8, first mustang and first rwd too. i do want to save on gas but i dont really mind spending all that money on gas even tho id prefer not to.

Maybe I can help shine a little light on helping you make a decision. I've owned 3 Mustangs: '94 3.8L V6, supercharged '03 4.6L V8, and just recently purchased my Premium 5.0L GT. If it's your 1st Mustang and you want the sound, power, and don't care about gas mileage get a V8. If you're concerned about gas and overall price but still want a decent amount of power, get a 2.3L EB. If you want a balance of both the 4 and 8 cylinders, get a 3.7L EB which will be essentially your V6. V8's are more costly depending on year and mileage, and you'll put in about $10-20k more if you want it fully loaded but they're sooo much fun lol! If you're gonna spend the extra money on modding an ecoboost...you might want to go ahead and upgrade. But either way, whatever you choose it's gonna be respected by other fellow mustang owners 😉! Just make sure you respect the pony itself.

I will say this.. Buy the GT, you wont second guess your decision. It will be pretty fast on day 1. And you wont constantly think about how to mod your Eco boost to be just like a GT. I was on the same boat as you, and im glad I got the GT. I already have a inline 4 engine on my daily vehicle, So getting into my v8 coyote feels more special when I take it out for the weekend. Gas milage is not bad on the GT. you could easily get 28mpg on 93 on the highway long trips.. ALL im saying is you dont want to have a shoulda woulda coulda type of answer when someone asks you why you got a ecoboost. Only reason to buy a Ecoboost is price.

I don’t own a Mustang, or any v8, i just thought i give my two cents since this video popped up in my recommendations. For me personally, it doesn’t feel right to get anything else besides a v8 if you go with Ford, Chevy, Dodge etc etc. If you’re gonna get a v6 or a four banger, you might as well stick with getting Japanese cars which has a very large market for aftermarket parts. I prefer Japanese cars personally, Infiniti, Nissan, Honda, Toyota, Subaru, Mitsubishi, Lexus, Mazda, Acura, Scion, as a better option. You can’t go wrong with that. If i want a Muscle car, it has to be a V8! No exception, it wouldn’t feel right to me to get a v6 “Muscle Car” or a four Banger “Muscle Car” just doesn’t make any sense. Do yourself a favor to whomever sees this comment, if you’re buying a Mustang, save your money, hustle, and work hard on getting the v8, in the long run, you will be glad you did. If not, save yourself the trouble and money and just buy a Japanese v6 or 4 Banger, mod that bitch and call it a day.

Buddy the 4 cylinder japanese cars you mentioned put out around 160-200 horsepower. The turbo 4 cylinder mustang puts out 310 horsepower and 350 lb torque!! Not comparable. Also keep in mind, the 4 cylinder ecoboost puts out more horsepower than a 2010 V8 mustang GT...so it's really all in your head. You have to think outside of the box. I personally bought the ecoboost. Don't get me wrong, I love the the V8 but it cost at least 15,000 more in my area. And that's besides the gas, maintenance, insurance, etc...I also don't think it's efficient on gas, and I love efficiency in life. But that's just my opinion.

Like everything else it’s either the V8 just running along or the Eco just remember you have to get on it on the Eco to have the power. V8 just plugs along or have the Eco and wind it out. Long run for me the V8 will go the distance with less issues. For me the only option is the 5.0 motor. Drove both and just could not accept the Ecoboost. Dealer was really pushing it hard and actually cutting down the 5.0. Just because that is all they had on their lot….. Went somewhere else and got a 5.0 GT. Love this car!

There is no way he got that mileage on that ecoboost. The best I ever got on the highway was maybe 24-25 mpg. Don't get me wrong the ecoboost is a fine car if you just want a nice car but if your an enthusiast and you think I'll just do after market upgrades than whats the point in that? With the extra money your going to spend just get a GT. Oh and I don't care what exhaust you put on the ecoboost its still not going to sound anything like a GT. Anyway I, like the reviewer had both and was never quite happy with the ecoboost so went back to the GT. The reviewer did a great job and I agree with everthing he said except I'm not sure where that 30-40 mpg came from as I never got close to that on my ecoboost. My understanding on the ecoboost is that the eco is more for it being better on the environment and not so much the mileage. Overall nice review.

That’s a very important consideration, and I saw a video about it. If you’re a true gearhead/enthusiast I don’t think the Ecoboost will satisfy. I’m just someone who wants to drive a car with history and which doesn’t look like every single other car on the road, so although I know the limitations of the Eco, so far it’s satisfied me. But now I’m thinking of trading it for a GT because I think the V8 will age better. I don’t abuse the car but do worry about all the stress on that little turbo charged engine.

Everytime I pass an eco boost or a v6 mustang i always say.....soo sad lol. Save the extra money and get a 5.0 its worth it. I had a 2016 v6 and theres no comparison to my 2020 5.0

The Gen 3 Coyote is best motor ford ever put out paired with that 10 speed automatic. You can beat on that set up and it will take it and ask for more horsepower. You beat on an eco good luck. Every turbo set up ford has put out has had issues with overheating, gasket leaks, cylinder issues especially if you try to upgrade.

Agreed and good point. The Coyote V8 motor is rock solid stock or modified. It's incredible how many RPM's they turn and the amount of stock HP they make.

Actually, ecoboost loose value faster then a gt. I had a 2019, i got for 30,000, had it for 3years sold it fot 27,000. Got me a 2023. More money to be made in a gt.

@@max_rove I could have said the same thing when I had my 2014 v6 mustang that had 305 hp stock.. that it had more power than a 2009 GT

I've had both. Currently still have my GT. ecoboost looks like you're in a sports car, but feels and sounds like you're in your girlfriends camry. Do you want to be in a mustang? or just look like you're in a mustang?
