Good summation Mark I am an experienced fisherman and boat owner (all my 63yrs) I have even worked as a deckie at times on a similar boat. I go on charters still probably once or twice a year with corporate ones or groups of friends mainly for the camaraderie I guess, its such allot of fun. I also get to learn new things or have my existing ideas challenged which is essential for learning and improving. Its what got me into softbaiting years ago now almost exclusively a lure fisherman rather than bait.

I love fishing! My grandfather had a small cabin-cruiser and, when I was a young girl, we used to fish in the Gulf of Mexico, sleeping on the tiny islands all on our own. I love this video because, as you say, people don't realize how much fun it is until they "get out there". :)

Learning from the pros and the more experienced is definitely the best way to learn about fishing. It can save you a lot of wasted time and money and gives you contacts to ask for advice and information in the future when you go through a dry patch.

I love ocean/salt water fishing. I am growing my love for freshwater river fishing in Alaska. I completely agree with hiring a charter. I have fished a fair amount of the States. Australia is still on my bucket list. Looks spectacular where you were fishing! And we never miss a beat because of rain. My best day of catching my limits in Alaska was a day with the rain coming down sideways! 2 halibut and 5 coho/silver salmon. A boat filled with men and I was the only one to limit out! Now you have me itching to book a trip to Australia!

Loving the new channel mark! I didn’t know I got sea sick until the first time I went out on my kayak. I agree with all 5 of your tips. A charter is definitely the best way to get out there and learn for anyone thinking about taking up fishing

Agree with you. Also the convenience of no prep etc, just walk on walk off and go home. Never any guarantees and if you have a good boat with a good skipper it's a good way to go. And it's hard to complain about charter costs when charter owners have such huge overheads to batte with these days.

I have missed going fishing. Fish was one of our main sources of food growing up. It's funny, despite growing up near the sea, I am not fond of the look of deep water. Can you imagine me on a rocky fishing boat, I would chuck a thunder. LOL

Most anglers go on a charter well before they go on a private boat trip, and certainly way before they buy a boat

I've only been out on boats a couple of times. This actually made me want to have the experience again. All that fish is certainly a bonus. Why don't you show how you prepared some of it? Thanks.

Agree mate, I have had boats since 2001 and still have been on about 5 charter fishing boats here in WA. When I travel with my partner in our caravan we obviously have to leave the boat behind. When I'm in remote locations we go on a fishing charter. Admittedly, some produce better hauls than others, but that's fishing. Never any guarantees in fishing. BTW, good to see an ex digger enjoying fishing as I am also ex. Cheers mate.

Thanks Stephen! I was lucky enough to be posted to 1st Civil Liaison Unit back in the 90s - I did a lot of fishing (I mean "work") in the top end during this period. I suppose you could call me a "fisher" as well as a "digger" 😄👍

You talked me into it..😆😆 I mean, if I'm ever in Australia. 🤣 I love every kind of fishing. The last time I went, it was expensive. The most we have ever paid...even in Alaska..300 bucks each, for half a day. My friend and I both, had fish on, when sharks grabbed them both, and nearly took us both in...When the Captain was more concerned with his poles...We said..take us back.. NOW! READ reviews before you book! Had we done that, we would have found out the guy was a joke.

Reason #6: In San Diego, an angler can get on a professionally run boat on trips lasting up to 16 days. No cell service, internet, or any media. Just camaraderie, blue water, and adventure!

Take over the counter Meclizine for motion sickness. It works well for me, and has no side effects such as drowsiness.

seeing you lads on the boat reminds me of me and my family on the 40 footer wreck fishing for thresher sharks! our longest fight took 4 of us 6 hours to reel in a 500Lb thresher which at the time was the UK record
