Very enjoyable video! I came here because the 'Terminal Directive' review was astonishingly in-depth and perceptive in its assessment of the narrative issues of that game. I particularly liked the idea put forward in that video that the story should have occurred through the cards, rather than around the cards. It's a pity that this video only gets 9k views when it's so well done. I particularly liked the Neo 'there are no dudes' scene! :-)

I'm playing Magic the Gathering for seven years now and also like to play it competetively. I like to say in advance, that Magic is my main game - however, I wanted to start fresh, start something new. I got to know about Netrunner through my best friend and fell instantly in love with how vastly different Netrunner is played. I started with the release of the new Core Set and I felt like I'm on a new journey, exploring the cardpool and the possibilities in Netrunner and also get involved in the local Netrunner community. I was welcomed and I was overwhelmed how inclusive the community is (online and offline). I was a complete newbie on Jinteki.net and my first game was like a whole tutorial on the game by a stranger, that was awesome! As I said, Magic is for me the best game. But if you dont want get invested in old-school trading card games and yet enjoy complex and strategic deck building, go for Netrunner. It's absolutely worth it!
It lives! It's still living. NISEI has released two full sets and more coming, and filling out 250+ player world competitions in addition to all the nationals, regional, store champs, and GNK's that FFG used to. All on a volunteer community team.

@@GarldBonkdonk Hello, im thinking of playing netrunner this 2020, besides the revised core set do i need the data packs and expansions? i heard they are hard to get? :(
@GarldBonkdonk4 жыл бұрын
@@jackmerrick78 Excellent! Welcome! There are sites like codepen.io/Theavon/full/YQmgBG/ that will allow you to print proxies, which are accepted at all NISEI tournaments, as well as a New Player product coming down the line sometimes later in 2020. Getting your hands on existing cards is a struggle which sucks, but fortunately you don't need to have physical cards to get started! Jinteki.net has you covered for online play, and a community that is very welcoming to helping new players get into the game! Another suggestion is netrunnerdb.com, when you've built a few decks you can figure out what you want/need. There are many older data packs that have rotated out of Standard, so unless you want to play Eternal format, you can skip them for some time (Either proxied or found physical) so that helps cut down on the load to start with. Let me know if you have other questions!

@@GarldBonkdonk Hey man! thank you very much for your reply, I'm thinking of getting Revised Core Set and play with my girlfriend, she thought it's an interesting game. So if we get the revised core set, I can just go to codepen and print the cards i need instead of buying it? we want to try to play standard :D

@@mrpotatohead34 Have I got good news for you!! The player base is actually keeping it alive, complete with releasing new cards, rotating old ones, and ensuring access to previous cards for new players. From a recent reddit post not mine: " The game is being continued by NISEI (www.nisei.net) , and you can easily get the new NISEI cards by ordering from their site. For old cards, use proxynexus.net to print off lists of old FFG cards - you can even order professionally printed proxies from MakePlayingCards.com! Lots of options out there for new players to get into the game, and for old players to keep playing."

The main issue with an LCG is that it does indeed have a higher entry cost... Making it hard to attain new players for many games. For a CCG you'll often get handed extra cards for free by some random stranger who heard you need cards. For an LCG you're on your own, and if you're a half-broke college student like I, you can't just test it out offhand if there's nobody in your area to play with (there isn't, at least that's a nice bunch which won't get weird about me borrowing cards for like literally twenty minutes of their life). So while I vastly prefer the LCG business model I don't know if there's a way to get past that fundamental handicap, the barrier to entry inherent to format.

@TraceFive6 жыл бұрын
That's an odd complaint. I mean sure, If you don't count the Game Design as part of the production cost that is indeed how much those cards cost. But if it's the raw paper you're in for you might find a roll of toilet paper will provide the most entertainment for your money. Cheers.
