Strangely enough even with all our hot weather and scorching sunshine my big tomatoes 🍅 are not ripening. But I check daily like any good gardener 😂😂. Hopefully you will have a glut of fabulously tasty tomatoes soon. Happy gardening, Ali 🌞🇨🇦

Hopefully! But the blight has taken over and most tomatoes are covered in blight now 😭 bit of a disaster! Video on that going up tomorrow. The wet weather we've had has caused it. Better luck next year

In the tropics without the extreme heat is an issue but I just put a bit of shade in the afternoon like bunch of twigs around.. always works for me.

I wish we had a tropical environment! Greenhouse growing is the only way of getting a good crop most years to be honest, and even then they can ripen really slowly like this year due to the lack of summer sun!

Still green in northern Maine too, I think it was all that rain and a late start, had to replant the garden twice with the wash out in June

Its the beginning of August and I maybe have 3 cherry tomatoes starting to get color. We've been having alot of cool and rainy weather recently. Im afraid none of my tomatoes will rippen before it gets to cool

Where's that? In the UK? Mine have really struggled too. And now the blight has got them so most have been lost now anyway 😔

@@downtoearthwithjim Denmark, so very similar climate to the UK. Luckily no blight or powdery mildew yet

I think maybe patience is key mine have only just started to ripen now but they are cherry tomatos. My ailsa craigs are still green as grass 😂

My cherry toms are always the first to ripen. Had my first cherries weeks back. Only just picked my first beefsteaks this past week! Hopefully the weather improves soon! Although it won't be long till autumn sets in!

@@downtoearthwithjim I brought loads in the house last year on the window sill and put a banana in with them - not sure if the banana helped 🤣 but that's what someone told me and they ripened fine.

@@TraceysCookingNAllotment yes, as I said in the video the ethylene gas that bananas (but also apples) emit help ripen the tomatoes 😊 🍅
