7:40 I’ve hiking in the NC mountains for 15 years and I have never seen a bear or encountered a bear while hiking the only area u have to watch for them is closer to black mountain, Asheville, and Cherokee but if ur hiking in other parts there’s a good change u won’t see or find a bear coming close to you. Also a lot of the bears in NC don’t go near humans anyway unless it’s a mother protecting its children.

I saw one right before the hurricane when I was hiking the Blue Ridge Parkway. Haven't personally seen one in ENC, but I've heard about it. Usually bear bells are enough to keep them away. Thanks for watching & sharing your experience living here for 15 years! -Lukas

Bears also are in eastern NC towards the coast. They occasionaly like to visit the central cities, especially Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and Hickory areas and can cause quite the spectacle.

Yep, I've heard about bear sightings in suburbia - even in Davidson, NC - but I know it's rare. I've only seen bears by Asheville, and only when I was hiking without bear bells. Thanks for watching & sharing your experience! -Lukas

how would it be if a tourist comes there for like a week are the prices high or low and is car rental cheap or expensive
@LivingInCharlotteTeamКүн бұрын
Depends on what you consider normal but a lot cheaper than New York. If you're looking at a nice Airbnb ($500-$600), nice food ($300-$400), and rental car ($300-$500), then total $1,100 to $1,500. Definitely visit!

What a sales pitch! Hot and very humid in the summer. Cold and damp all winter. Fall is great until you have to rake all those damn leaves. Driving, stay out of the Raleigh area. Those people are just Aholes. I lived there several times, never again.

NC will keep growing, hope we bring passenger rail back to NC, 100 years ago we had extensive passenger rail, today less than 400 miles for the state. Maybe Maglev and Monorail in cities can be a big help.

Great video! Can you describe allergy season(s) in NC and does it bother you? Thanks!
@LivingInCharlotteTeam2 ай бұрын
Personally I’m pretty sensitive to allergies, especially pollen. There are 4 wks in spring and 2 wks in fall I have to use allergy meds but other than that I’ve been fine! What got you looking at moving to Charlotte?
@joecalabria3472Ай бұрын
Depends on what you're allergic to, and even the specific neighborhood you move to. I suffered from horrible oak pollen allergies (eyes, especially) when I lived in northern New Jersey. Moved to Charlotte (Matthews) area over 30 years ago and my allergies all but disappeared. Sure, there's plenty of yellowish white pollen dust here (and people who are sensitive to it), but it just doesn't bother me the way that green pollen in NJ did. After 30 years here I seem to have developed a mild sensitivity to the local pollen, but it's nowhere as bad as it used to be when I was in NJ.

😂 people cursing each other even driving 25 miles per hour in forest hills...every day. Cars zooms right behind little kids' back even they haven't finished crossing the street in Queens! People got burned, robbed, pushed in subway but you still need to pay closed to $3 per ride😂 hard to love NYC anymore

We’d actually prefer to see nobody come here! Congestion, real estate prices etc have skyrocketed in recent years, and those are VERY undesirable to us! Yes, it’s true, massive insects, alligators, venomous snakes the length of a power pole, brain eating amoebas in the water as well as their cousins the flesh eating amoebas, bears hiding in your car to attack you when you head to work in the morning. Best off to avoid all these negatives and stay up north!

Re climate you neglected to mention ticks, unless the situation up north has crept up towards equilibrium. You have to get those tick remover spoons for yourself, your kids (oh, how they love slow trudging toddlers), and your precious doggos. And the right iodine solution for the bites.

At one point you said the cost of living isnt that much different from places like Long Island but its a huge difference from what ive seen. I live in a cape on Long Island in a mediocre neighborhood. My property taxes alone are 16k a year. Been looking at the Apex area.
@LivingInCharlotteTeam2 ай бұрын
@@b0ondockz838 cost of living EXCEPT real estate and taxes. Sorry I was not more clear on that. Raleigh / Apex is a great area, and many New Yorkers love it. Most common complaint is Raleigh / Apex feels too small. Highly recommend 1) visiting ahead of time to see it for yourself, and 2) check out my video comparing Raleigh vs Charlotte to get a better sense of which might be best for you. Thanks for watching! No character in the downtown like NYC. Also NC has way too many crap houses. Nothing like the Northeastern houses that have a lot of character. Yes, NC is way too car centric.
