Thanks.. I’m going to be honest. I’ve been watching tutorial videos for months and there are a lot of good videos and people out there but every time I land on yours, it’s the one that finally gives me that ah ha moment. Your explanations and exercises make the most sense to me. It’s that simple. You just know how to explain it.

I love the videos!! I have only been skating for one day (I did two sessions, 2 hrs each!). I am still a bit wobbly, but I am able to move now and have been practicing bubbles! :D But the day after (today), I feel it in all my muscles in my core and legs!

Love these, thanks ! Would you ever make a video about one leg balance going backwards, with one foot slalom backwards, etc ? Would love to be able to do swings going backwards one day but I'm stuck trying to practice that

Skatie, I love your videos, the way you explain every technique and drill makes them easy to understand. Funny thing to me because I've heard some of them already in my native language and they sounded like Greek to me. 🤣🤣🤣

Your videos are so great. Do you think some strength drills on skates are enough to get strong enough to advance? Or do you have to add typical (off skates) resistance exercises (lunges, etc). Thanks!
@Skatie Жыл бұрын
Off skate exercises can definitely help, especially if you’re struggling with a certain move. I tend to try and park skate when the weather is good and I always notice all aspects of my skating improve when I do and I’m sure it’s due to the strength and extra muscle needed for park skating.

by chance, do you know what kind of flooring ur floor is made of in this video? Thank you.
@Skatie Жыл бұрын
Hi. It’s a village hall so I’d say it’s some type of wood floor. It’s individual boards which don’t sit very flat so there are lots of ridges.

what kind of skates do have in this video? i'm browsing for new skates and I REALLY like the skates you have!
@Skatie Жыл бұрын
Hi. These are artistic figure skates so they’re a custom build. The boot is a Risport Dance Prime boot on a Roll-line dance plate.

Can you do a video on or recommend best budget skates for beginners in the UK. I recently bought a pair but they were awful and not great for outdoor skating. Please help as your website recommendations seem to be out of stock or slightly out of budget for a beginner
@Skatie Жыл бұрын
Hi. I will take a look at the out of stock ones, thank you for letting me know. I have to update the links occasionally. Have you had a look at the candy girl carlins? They are around the £60 mark and a great starter skate. I’ve done a review video on them.

You are on a wooded floor, Are your wheels hard or soft and does a heel help anymore. 😊
@Skatie Жыл бұрын
Hi. Yes this is a wood floor, I like to skate on a hard wheel for extra slip.
@Skatie Жыл бұрын
The heel helps to push the weight forwards so it can be easier to find your balance. I have a video with more detail coming up on heels verse flat.

How could one foot slide be a “1 foot bubble” when there is nothing to squeeze against?
@Smo0chiePo0ch Жыл бұрын
Picking up my toes isn't an issue. Picking up my heel is terrifying.
@Skatie Жыл бұрын
Are you wearing toes tops? That definitely makes it harder as it will restrict how far into the toe manual you’ll be able to go and it makes it harder to balance. Keep a soft knee and it’s good to find your balance holding on to something for support. 🪑
@Smo0chiePo0ch Жыл бұрын
@Skatie Yes. Wearing top stops. I have them as far in as they will go (like jam plug length) but it's the actual heal lifting that terrifies me. I'm balancing with a chair and I'm trying to do stretches and exercises that will make those muscles stronger too.
