Kyle, Very helpful tips. It would be great to see more of these general tips and techniques that apply to the block editor and Wordpress and not specific tools. Also, thanks for videos that are helpful to the single website people. Thanks for all that you contribute to the Wordpress community.

@@TheAdminBar I''d been hijacking the "hightlight" option for simple text color changes. It's even easier (better?) if you're using GeneratePress/Blocks.

Does the copy and paste into another page work between different sites? Thanks for the video. It is time to start dipping my toes in the water.
@TheAdminBar2 жыл бұрын
It sure does! In fact, GenerateBlocks has a library (both free and paid) that you can copy right from the front end of their site and paste into any site. generateblocks.com/library/

Thank you for very nice tips. I have tweaked your code snippet regarding the Reusable Blocks Admin Menu so it is placed as a submenu under Appearance: /* Reusable Blocks accessible in backend */ function wf_reusable_blocks_admin_menu() { add_submenu_page( 'themes.php', _x( 'Reusable Blocks', 'block category' ), _x( 'Reusable Blocks', 'block category' ), 'edit_posts', 'edit.php?post_type=wp_block' ); } add_action( 'admin_menu', 'wf_reusable_blocks_admin_menu' );

I think you can get to reusable blocks by typing /reuse or some shortcut like that.

Great tips! When removing unnecessary blocks so clients won't see them, do you have to do that logged into their user or is it global?
@TheAdminBar2 жыл бұрын
It's on a user-by-user basis - so you'll need to access their user account to set it up for them.

Someone might find this helpful. For the last trick, instead of altering the code especially when it's a complex block. Simply select or double-click the word, then choose from the arrow drop down (v) to select the Generateblocks highlight option, the one with pen icon. Afterwards you can change the color of the selected word in the right panel and as well change other properties available for the highlighted word. Straight and simple without breaking anything

How to create a website like sportskeeda
@maxziebell40132 жыл бұрын
If one could save a block pattern, as a new block… that would be cool. Not a reusable block, but rather a new block (meta block). This would mean one would have to enable some sort of toggle on certain properties to be exposed by the meta blocks. Lets say, the headline content could be still edited. This would be block creation on the fly and if one edits the meta block it would change everywhere while still maintaining the changed headline content across its used instances.
@maxziebell40132 жыл бұрын
Wait I think I did something like this with Reusable Blocks that use dynamic data as an input like ACF field. They would be taken from the location the block is inserted, correct? Still not exactly the same, but the direction is right.
@TheAdminBar2 жыл бұрын
I hadn't thought of that, but I love the idea! I would be really interested in checking that out with ACF!

Just save as a reusable block. Add to new page. Then convert block to regular and edit. :)
