As a retired cop, I just want to say for what it’s worth I agree 100% with him. This is solid advice guys and gals. Stay alert and you can avoid 95% of problems criminals are predators and like all predators they are looking for the easy pray not the one that is alert and sees them coming and is ready to defend themselves. And if you are attacked you hit them with everything you have “no rules, no holds barred” until they are no longer a threat and you can escape. And NEVER I MEAN NEVER!!!! Go to point B with them, you fight them where they attacked you never agree to get in the car or go with them because they say they won’t hurt you if you do. They are taking you to a place they have picked out and prepared for whatever they are going to do! Your odds of survival, getting help, not getting hurt or raped go way way down once they get you to their prepared location. God bless, stay safe, and take care out there people!

I know a couple folks from "The Shop" and "No Such Agency" This dude is telling it like it is. Situational awareness is the best weapon. Change your route suddenly if you think you are being followed. If you are walking, you can treat a possible threat like a dogfight, if you can move quickly, change direction and get yourself behind your follower. And absolutely go for the most damage you can do as fast as you can. A wrecked attacker can't hurt you.

I understand the internal psycho thing. When I was in high school fighting was just a part of life. Almost like a second sport LOL. But I was quite good even though I was not particularly a physical specimen. When I got into a fight I treated it like life and death and just exploded. My goal was to in end it ASAP. It served me quite well.

Great take as usual. Many years ago I stopped using my smart phone or wearing headphones in public spaces. SOMETIMES I will wear headphones to listen video content at low levels on long-haul transport, but only if it doesn't drown out the sounds around me. If you zone out into your phone, and drown out audio with head phones, whole dramas can play out within feet of you and escalate into life threatening situations whilst you are sitting there in cloud cuckoo land. I guess its down to all of us to balance our own risk..... But at the same time you could argue that "the only time to wear headphones is in your mancave"
@28pbtkh23 Жыл бұрын
I agree with you. I think it's very safe to use headphones on a plane. Also ok to do so on a train as well, especially an early morning commuter train; but late morning and most of the afternoon and mid- to late evening it could be pretty dangerous. Public bus - not safe at all. Long distance coach, probably ok.

I agree with Jason , to many people are distracted by their smart phones and headphones they wear while walking. I’ve had nightmares while cycling trying to get people to move out the way from cycle paths due to their headphones not hearing my pushbike bell ringing. I’ve had to literally shove them out the way, then turn back at them saying if that was an attacker you wouldn’t have a chance.

You are right about martial arts being territorial, but my 2-cents; learn boxing first. You will learn how to throw simple and effective punches and, most importantly, good footwork. Then train a martial art (or two) that interests you. As Bruce Lee once said: “Adapt what is useful, reject what is useless, and add what is specifically your own.”

Mistake number 6: Walking around with headphones on. You can also take one headphone and move it away from your ear if you insist on listening to music. Depending where you live it may not be a human predator, could be a mountain lion, or bear. Be alert. Be confident.

This really is brilliant advice, common sense, logical and straight forward. I agree about martial arts. They are all good. My karate club always taught traditional karate, the kind that would save your life. Learning martial arts is like an insurance policy to save your life and guarantees you a sporting chance to save your life if in danger. You are so right about an inner aggression. The moment you respond to an attacker that way it really gets them on the back foot and terrifies them. I usually find that most bullies are cowards and will run if people fight back.

Knocking out someone with 1 punch is probably possible if you're someone like Mike Tyson or your attacker is Glass Joe from Punch Out. I heard that sometimes a good bluff might be all you need to make someone think twice about approaching you with bad attention; if you can pull off the bluff; something like pretending that you might have a gun in your coat pocket. Like some animals do in nature to make themselves look more dangerous than they are.

Excellent advise Jason. My first training started in 5th grade with an instructor that taught hand to hand to the police. it was jujitsu (mostly). We were taught to obey fighting rules when we were on the mat; but off the mat we were to assume that an attacker was trying to kill us. Off the mat we were to disable them (break fingers, elbows, knees, throat, eyes, groin anything). Never turn your back on an attacker until he is down. And use improvised weapons when available. After 4 years of that I went on to Sporting Judo which taught me speed and precision. After collage I studied Tae Kwon Do for several decades. I also taught self defense for women, quick easy techniques to stun/surprise an attacker (nothing fancy). And the first line of defense was situational awareness. Bad guys are mostly cowards and tend to pass on targets that see them coming. Way back when, I used to carry a bic pen with a steel rod snug fitted inside. Now I carry a gun, knife and tactical pen. My defensive philosophy has never changed. Keep up the excellent videos!

Hello, I am from Germany, 41 years old and not very tall. A month ago I had to take the bus from France back to Germany. 16 hour bus ride with lots of strangers. There was someone sitting behind me who was probably looking for a fight. He kept kicking me in the back seat the entire trip. Unfortunately the bus was so full that I couldn't move to another seat. I couldn't communicate with him either because in France you can't get very far with English or German. At least he couldn't/wouldn't understand me. When we had to change trains in Brussels and I wanted to get my luggage from the bus, he attacked me without warning. Luckily he was just bigger but not stronger than me. He was standing so close to me that at first I didn't know what to do. So I jumped at his neck and put him in a headlock and tried to punch him in the face several times while trying to knock the air out of him. Luckily a few people who were there separated us from each other so that no one was seriously injured. In retrospect you always think to yourself, I would have acted one way or another, but at that moment it is difficult to react quickly and correctly under time pressure. He apparently thought that he had found an easy victim for his frustration. I hope never to be in such a situation again. But if so, next time I'll try to hit the larynx directly. The world is getting crazier and crazier. Thanks for the good advice! Stay save!

Great information! I used to teach a Woman’s Self Defense Class at a local University. This was before smart phones, but I taught them to always pay attention. Check out the back of the car before you get in. Park your car pointing out for a quick getaway if necessary. Women who didn’t have older siblings were hesitant to punch someone. They had to learn to not hold back. Practice, practice to get your muscle memory ready to defend anything. The most sensitive part of the body is the inside of the nose. The nose is the best place to attack but don’t wait for it to become available to strike. Unlike the movies, finish them off as quickly as you can and take off. I’ve never heard anyone say their style is the only way. That may be because I’m in the most liberal state in the Union, Massachusetts. (Just a little poke.) Your info is great and I don’t care the style. Be well all eight of you. ❤
