i think the biggest issue for beginners and even good drivers is that they get nervous in wheel to wheel situations and panic. a good tip for that is to go into a offline race with AI and change the settings so you’re definetely faster but not too much and just try to take every corner side by side. don’t worry about winning but just be next to someone for as long as possibe

@@GM_Sanjit_Ramesh Absolutley! When I first started I was raging out. I would be pissed long after the race lol. Now i will let the faster or dangerous cars go by and enjoy picking them off one by one if i can. I also had to learn to not flip out if someone else made a mistake. Now ill go back and watch the replays before I say anything. People will be very suprised when doing so. I have seen a few times where the mistake was actually my own fault for pushing too hard. keep it fun!

So fun watching all these vids when "time's up" for me; stroke, bad back and joints plus age makes me to relax more and watch others take their turns. Still plays games but nowdays it's, more or less, only on Forza Horizon. I KNOW! It's not a sim. But as I just mentioned; Stepping down myself due to health issues and just try to have some fun instead. 😎👍 /DBB

I think the best advice I ever got starting out was "plan to not win every race". I am very competitive and I do find myself in the top split some races. I always try to remember that in the end its just a game so dont get angry. Im not getting paid for this so dont get angry. Avoid the shitty drivers because they may be new. Give evryone space until you are confident in their ability to go side by side. Be patient!!! I generally get out of the way and let the chaos work itself out. I have had races that were door to door for 45 minutes without one crash and it was amazing. I also have gotten on pole and was a second faster than the field and been taken out on turn one. we all have lol. do the practice sessions. sometimes i will stay in the pits and watch other drivers. look at the safety rating of the other drivers. just have fun though. if you arent doing it for a living, its just a fun hobby so dont let it be anything else!

It takes more than just practice. There are a few key things you can do to become better at anything in life: 1. Practice 2. Practice in a valid Environment (Structured/Patterned ie. same track/car) 3. Timely Feedback (Feedback as soon as you perform ie. time delta's, sector times, motec) 4. Deliberate Practice (Practice outside of your comfort zone, at the edge of your ability) If you can do all these 4 things your speed of improvement will be faster

Good tips. One of the most common mistakes in my opinion is, that many sim racers focus on laptimes when they stop improving. You can only improve laptimes when you focus on your driving, instead of split times, delta´s and so on. Thats a massive distraction, that can lead to the opposite of what you try to achieve. When I try to improve my laptimes, I disable every element that shows me information about my laptimes. And I do that with a reasonable amount of fuel, not with an empty fuel tank. Many simracers fail when racing, because they focus on hotlaps, just like you said in the video. Winning races is not about hotlapping, it´s about consistent pace and good decision making when it comes to battle for positions. Single lap pace is worth nothing when you are unable to repeatedly do those times for the whole race. I see that every week, when I practice with my friends. Meanwhile a few of them beat me in qualifying by half a second. But when it comes to the race itself, after 90 minutes they finish 30 seconds behind me, cause they´re unable to do consistent laptimes.
@Iceman-hb3uk
@Iceman-hb3uk 2 жыл бұрын
Talking about choosing your battles I'd like to add two things (just adding, what you said is totally true): 1. Sometimes, especially when doing a comeback, if you want to fight for better positions later in the race, you'll need to be more aggressive and perhaps try to fit in tight gaps at times (still, be careful and don't just yeet your car in there); 2. If you're on another strategy, especially happening in F1 games, just admit when your tyres are gone and don't fight a guy on fresh softs when you have 20 laps old mediums, just let him thru and try to stick to his DRS as long as you can, avoid losing time (especially if you have a time penalty). I've lost my last race by .7s, if it wasn't for the fight I had with a guy with destroyed tyres where I lost around 2s I could've won... and he lost time too, cause he could've used me to stay in DRS and extend the pit window while gaining on others who pitted earlier, but some just see a car and have a urge to fight it like their life depends on it...
@PaulPunk23LP
@PaulPunk23LP Жыл бұрын
its also race dependent. I once raced in an 12h Endurance race, where some car, which was 2-3s a lap faster tried to unlap himself. of course I'm not letting that happen, because 2-3h later he would've been caught up back to us. Fight tactically. Sometimes, you need to be agressive in T1, especially when fighting for the lead on a track where you cant overtake well (like Monaco f.e.)
@Iceman-hb3uk
@Iceman-hb3uk Жыл бұрын
@@PaulPunk23LP well, in that case you're right to defend as he is lapped, so technically the regulations allow you to keep the position if you are in front, but also think about how worth it is if you lose like 2s per lap fighting when the car in front is creating a gap. If you're first then you can do pretty much whatever you want, as long as none behind you can pass then you'll end first, but if you're fighting for the positions ahead then it's better to let the guy thru and use him to get closer (if he's just a bit faster of course, in case he's like 2-3s faster he'll just fly away).
@PaulPunk23LP
@PaulPunk23LP Жыл бұрын
@@Iceman-hb3uk @user-my2vu6pg4s well, in that specific case, our car was still faster than the cars in front and fighting cost us barely 0,5s a lap, since on bathurst you cant overtake that easily.

One thing i do when i race with other racers and when the race is about to start and we approach the first corner is that i break way to early so i can avoid the big fight on the first turn. Ok i mostly lose a few places because of this but it's better then be part of a mega rumble and even if i start on the last place or in the last row i do the same thing. But i would be a good thing if you can do a tutorial on setups

My advice would be that you’re probably not as advanced as you think you are, and practice is the key. Attack the track from different angles as you’re ideal lines won’t be there every corner. Try watching the driver you wish to overtake for a while. See where they’re slower. Or don’t.
@d0cspeed

I have seen a lot of advantage when really knowing the track; and this takes time. Hundreds of laps will be required. The 2 errors I was doing were: braking a little harder and downshifting an extra gear in some low speed corners reducing the overall speed. And last; patience on long races.
@TheSnaveeelPlaysGames
@TheSnaveeelPlaysGames 2 жыл бұрын
This! It is not mentioned enough how much engine braking slows you down when shifting for a corner. That extra downshift “for rotation” will lose you a lot of time in coming section of track.

Rule 5.1 - Learn the distinction between an open door, a small gap you're going to cause a crash on and a gap you can use to put some pressure on the car ahead. Weirdly, I really enjoy the ACC public server's races at Monza. Of course, it's pretty easy to become punt or smashed, but that also allows to practice the wheel to wheel driving and how to get an advantage from battling a human instead of the AI. And practice is everything.
