I really love this book because it showed me how naive and gullible I am and how to interact with other people tactfully and work them for me.

There is almost no downside to starting rumors, especially when you have no power. It creates interesting dynamics when you have people with lots of power mix with nobodies, you have to be so careful. Its a bell you just cant unring.

I checked a guy at work. He spread rumors about me non-stop. When I had enough, I called him a little punkass bitch. He was trembling. Prior to this he had lied up a reputation as a bamf gangster from X town. After, I checked him, his reputation was destroyed, no one trusted him or believed him anymore. He resigned 2 weeks later.

but spreading rumours is dishonourable & it takes away one's pride. A very cheap & dirty trick to play..
@Illacertus8 жыл бұрын
I agree. Why not understand that the whole book's premise is to inform people like you of what's going on behind the scenes so you can be wary and defend yourself accordingly? I like you. You're well intentioned and realize smearing someone's reputation is bad, but I invite you to do some more digging.
@eldromedario33158 жыл бұрын
illacertus wow, haven't thought about it from this perspective. I am grateful for spending your time to share your insight with me, bc of u I'm smarter now 😁 Gr8 day 2 u sir 😆
@eldromedario33158 жыл бұрын
illacertus only 1 more thing, no offense but I think you should know that your does not equal you're bc your is defined as belonging to or associated with any/the person(s) & you're is a shortened form of you are which are 2 words while your is one word. When someone reads "Your well intentioned", the person who reads it may get confused bc it'd sounds like: his well intentioned & this doesn't make much sense..

How do we react if someone slanders us? especially when there is an influencial figure around at the point that you want to impress. Do we laugh it off? Keep silent? etc. Thanks for the content its amazing :D
@Illacertus8 жыл бұрын
Laughing it off / humor is certainly one of the best ways I've discovered for myself. Don't take them seriously. Have to pick your battles. Thank you.
@aussiebinchicken30378 жыл бұрын
I was just thinking, If you try to laugh off 'humoured' slander directed at damaging your reputation infront of someone influential(you want to impress ofc), (such as don't trust him with _____ or he'll _____ [implying that you've done it in the past when you haven't]), the point is still being driven home and a negative impression has already been set. Laughing off doesnt deny that and seems like you are accepting it so is it really the best option. Thanks.
@Illacertus8 жыл бұрын
Solid. It could also reframe an intended insult as a joke. It's not reactive behaviour betraying insecurity on your part. Shows confidence & that you didn't even perceive the slandering as negative. The person speaking ill of you will look foolish.
