I do it as a hobby for my sons football games. I use that same lens... I have been doing it for a few years and love it. It brings the team together no matter if they have just 11 players or 50 players.

Solid video, Daniel. Finding sports photography opportunities is actually not as difficult as some may think. Your point about taking advantage of high school sports is spot on. Club leagues and amateur sports events are happening frequently, once COVID-19 is behind us, in most communities. Athletes and participants love getting hero shots of themselves and I've never had anyone object when I approach a coach or event director to introduce myself and ask if I could take some shots, not for me, but for their club, the athletes or event participants. If someone thinks they know their camera, then go shoot fast paced activities or sports events and they will discover really quickly whether or not they truly know their equipment. Thanks again for the video. I subscribed and look forward to seeing more of your work.

@@DanielMogg I am curious about your work flow from sideline capture to presenting your intended client or target audience with a final image. If you have video on that let me know and I'll watch it and save you the time typing a response. Video is a bit intimidating and at this point I am strictly a stills shooter.

Is a 4fps camera enough for someone just looking to start sports photography?? Was looking at the Nikon D5100
@DanielMogg
@DanielMogg 2 жыл бұрын
That's a little bit on the slower side for sports. Do you shot on Nikon already? There's other options at that price point.

Good tips Daniel. I have a few questions I hope you could answer. I do nature and a few other styles and have a 70-200 and 150-600 Sigma sports lens, which would you take or would you take both ?. Also, when you started out, how did you come up with pricing?, did you charge for the shoot at the game then later charge per image, did you maybe charge like a package deal or per hour etc etc.... Lastly, what was the rough pricing you offered?. I ask the last one due to I have trouble on working out what to charge and to if do like a per image and free shoot or charge for shoot PLus images later. PM me if you like, or reply a comment, many thanks.
@DanielMogg
@DanielMogg 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I would definitely take both lenses. My experience with pricing is different as it was a staff job and shooting NFL games I'm not allowed to sell any of my images. My recommendation would be to charge a day rate. Then depending on what the client wants ,charging per image. It really depends on what the client wants but I would make sure you're never going out of pocket for anything. Let me know if you have any other questions!
