5 SQN SAAF LBWG Feb 91

Fortunate to have an "unfortunate" low quality VHS recording of 5 SQN SAAF during a Weapons Camp at AFB Langebaanweg.
The video is a bit long but how do one cut out footage that was lost for so many years? The idea of the video is not only to preserve the footage of the Cheetah E, but also to pay tribute to the air and ground crew that flew and lovingly maintained her.
There are many of my friends on the video. Some old and grey like me and some already passed away. They will not be forgotten.
I salute all the members who made 5 Sqn SAAF one of the best in the business!

Proud to have been part of the reformation of 5 Sqn at AFB Louis Trichardt (Braambos) as a newly minted Lt Air Traffic Controller... many moons ago now but the awesome memories never fade.....

I would have been one of the C130 loadies that did the squadron move from their home base to LBW for the technical chaps in Feb91. Great times.

Hej then I ought to know you. Was an Armourer at 5 Sqn and then 2 Sqn with the Chet C

I don't know if its true but apparently gripen survives on cannibalized parts and only few are operational?

Very hard to find anything about the Cheetah E. Seems they didn't last long in service. Was it an intrim type until cheetah C came in?

Flew with a South American that used to fly them. He says it suffered from a very poor range. A couple were exported to a few countries and they continue to operate them.
