I have seen both versions of Pride and Prejudice and Matthew McFayden is incredible as Mr. Darcy. Incredible! And the chemistry between Keira Knightley's Lizzie and McFayden's Darcy is just, wow! Seriously. But also, the soundtrack is so beautiful. The scene with Lizzie standing "on top of the world" and the music playing brings absolute chills for how stunning it is. And the cinematography is breathtaking. I am very harsh on movies, and this one captured my heart. And I'm a huge Colin Firth fan. Only watched the Bridget Jones moves because of him. Please please please watch the Keira Knightley version. Please!

The BBC Pride & Prejudice is my favourite too, I first watched it as a kid with my mum and as an adult it has all those sentimental comfort vibes you are describing - so I totally get it!

I love the Colin firth version too my mom bought me the book with him on the cover. You are right not to watch the Kira version it moves to fast and leaves out a lot of the book.

27 5 star books out of 502 books read this year. Phantasma was my latest 5 🌟. I love these videos. Im trying to gather 5 star rated books to add to my tbr. Im tired of reading meh books. I dont want filler books, I don't want forgetable, 3 🌟 books. Of course, I'll get those books but I want 4 star and 5 books ob my tbr next year.

I'm team BBC P&P as well! I saw the Keira Knightley one first when I was young and loved it but.. The BBC one just hits different. I don't dislike the Keira Knightley one, but BBC P&P reigns supreme and also more truer to the book which I love!

If someone were to ask me what my favourite book of all time was, I’d say pride and prejudice without thinking. In fact I’m sure I’ve been asked this over the years and it’s always been my answer. I feel exactly as you do about the tv adaptation, the film is ok but doesn’t come close. It’s ok to watch the film as it is in no way any competition for the tv version. You could hate watch it 😄. No one else can play all the characters like they all. After the first episode my mum got me the book and I read it so fast, I HAD to know what went on next. Love love love ❤

Im the same with my thoughts of the BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. My friends have told me to watch the movie so many times and I’ve not progressed further than 4 minutes because it’s not the same! I watch the BBC adaptation at least 3 times a year 😂

My favorites this year so far are(they may be 4.5 or 4 stars, not necessarily complete 5 stars): The devil and the dark water, the chestnut man,the Thursday murder club, Steelheart, the cruel prince, home before dark,and the death of Mrs westaway .

This is so random but would the 'placements' be more accurate if you did a system similar to the the lipsync slayoffs from Canada's Drag Race S4? So the first pairings are random but then the winners pair up again and the losers pair up again so techincally the 'better books' are going up against each other and the 'worse books' go up against each other. Does that make sense? Like it ends up filtering down to a top 2 and bottom 2. This might not even change anything but it could be fun 😂

I must be super critical since I only have two 5 stars reads out of the 67 books so far. As far as P&P, the BBC is the most true adaptation to the original text. In my opinion, the 2005 adaptation is a mere shadow of book. It does provide a launching pad to entice younger audiences to read more classics. P&P is be on my list of top books of all time.
