@@alananoelle No worries Alana 😊Thought I'd mention that the Rosemary oil from Sephora arrived with a broken lid which I sent a picture of to them and asking for a replacement. They have never replied to me which has really put me off using them again. I thought it was worth you knowing what my experience has been with Sephora UK. I now how a small sample of the Olaplex oil and the gummies you recommended too so fingers crossed, they will all help me as they have with you. Thanks again x,

Hi Alana my healthy virgin hair was broken after being iron deficient. After my iron stores started to come up I began using Ahuhu Essential Anti-Age Elixir + Redensyl at night, and my hair really started to come back especially around the temples. I read the redensyl works best when the hair loss is addressed within the first five years. Great video! Such an important and personal issue to so many women young and old. Thank you for sharing your story and tips. I really need to incorporate hair oils into my hair routine more often. Now if only I can get my nails looking good.

Have you tried Virture Healing oil. It works magic on my dry mid portion of the hair after I blowdried it with Dyson Airwrap or wbej using a curling iron. I'm still getting used to it but my hair is manageable.

I haven’t tried it lovely!! I’ll definitely check it out tho! Has it made your hair grow? Xx

@@alananoelle I started your recommended rosemary oil (used Amazon UK to ship to the US). I'll report later. The healing oil so far it makes my dry hair smoother and soothes it after styling and the day after it's like a little pick me up.

I have a lot of grays as well. since u said you aren't dyeing your hair how are u managing the grays??
@alananoelle Жыл бұрын
Hey lovely, I’m just dealing with them 😅 I find that they look way worse if I wear my hair up & scrapped back so I rarely do! Also if my hair is greasy so I always make sure I wash it before it gets greasy! You can also get sprays etc to cover the greys if they are really bad but that’s not something I feel I need right now! Hope that helps lovely 💕 also as I mentioned I’m going to get a toner soon, so that’ll settle them a little. Xxx

the amount of disinformation in this video... i'll take them one by one: 1. rosemary oil - although rosemary oil has *some* benefits for hair growth, you get most of the benefits from the actual massage. massages stimulate blood circulation, you get more nutrients in your hair follicles, and that's what actually determines hair growth. any rosemary oil will work just fine; no need to buy whatever is trending on Tik Tok. tried this myself with cold-pressed rosemary oil i bought from my local pharmacy 2. Olaplex - the entire Olaplex system is great, BUT only if you've bleached your hair blonde. Olaplex works by restoring the bonds that were destroyed during the bleaching process. if you've colored your hair a darker color than your natural hair or you've never colored your hair, it won't work as there are no bonds to repair; the damage is caused by something else. again, Olaplex worked great on me but did nothing for my brunette friends. also, you're using it wrong - i have a quarter of your hair, and i use 10 drops combined with a pea-size of No. 6 (this is actually the recommended way of using it to get the full benefits). the Olaplex oil is also a heat protectant, so using it before going to bed is a waste 3. Moroccanoil - not great, not terrible. it does hydrate your hair, but i wouldn't say it stimulates growth, especially since you're supposed to use it from midlength to the ends 4. not bleaching your hair - HELL YES! this is going to help your hair more than everything else combined, and it's free (actually, you're even saving money). my hair as a brunette was way more damaged than it is now as a blonde. i get micro baby lights every 3 to 4 months 5. washing your hair once a week - noupe. if you're one of those people who can actually go one week without washing your hair, that's great, but not everyone can. my second-day hair looks like i haven't washed it in at least a month. i wash my hair every other day now. it's actually not the washing itself that's damaging for your hair, but the heat that follows after. if possible, let your hair air dry, use heatless curls, etc. the less heat on your hair, the better 6. vitamins - NO! at this point, recommending vitamins on the internet should be illegal. the human body is smart enough to know what it needs and what it doesn't, and it flushes out whatever it doesn't need. before taking ANY supplements, go to your doctor to get a blood test - they'll tell you if you need to take any supplements and specifically what supplements you need (and for how long! you can't take supplements for extended periods of time). some people have iron deficiency, some people need biotin, often times the problem lies in a whole other place and supplements won't help; you need to address other health issues first 7. wearing your hair up - yes & no, depending on what you're using, how, and how often. after wearing my hair in a ponytail every single day for years, my hair started thinning out on the portion that came in contact with the elastic (you could literally see that section when i let my hair down) - not what you're going for when trying to get your hair healthy. so don't get your hair on high, tight ponytails often, and use silk scrunchies if you do. hairclips, on the other hand, are less damaging on the hair. braiding your hair to get it out of your face also works (also, when braided, hair tends to look fresh for longer) i also noticed you didn't show any baby hairs - that's actually the only way you can decide whether your hair is growing back; otherwise, what happens is not that you get new hair, but the one you already have is repaired. which is still great, just different things

Exactly. You also cannot repair damage done to the hair with chemicals with 'oils'. As great as oils are for your hair, they cannot undo the damage. Only 'good chemicals' can undo the damage done to the hair with bleaching and colouring. Investing in a high end hair mask that repairs damaged hair and using that accordingly, will improve the hair health in literally a month.

I'm sorry but I need to address the misinformation in some of *_your_* points... 2. Olaplex is NOT just for people who've gone blonde. Damage/broken bonds is not exclusive to bleached blonde hair. There's different types of damage (chemical damage from perms/relaxers, bleaching + coloring, heat styling, etc) and Olaplex helps repair that damage, wether it's due to bleaching or heat styling. Olaplex and bleached blondes are not mutually exclusive. I've been using Olaplex No.3 (Hair Perfector) on my virgin dark brunette hair because I have split ends and some breakage due to heat styling and it's helped tremendously in repairing the damage and strengthening my hair. If it didn't work for your brunette friends it's likely because, as you mentioned, they had little to no damage to repair, or maybe they didn't use the product correctly. So saying that Olaplex only works for bleached hair is just not true. That's like saying "You should only eat broccoli if you're tall." Also, using the Olaplex oil as a heat protectant is actually more of a waste than applying it on your ends before bedtime - you *_want_* to protect your ends with a hair oil! Olaplex oil may *_say_* that it's a heat protectant, but it's way better to use a blow-dry cream (like the No. 6 Bond Smoother) as your main heat protectant when you blow-dry and *_THEN_* use the oil on your ends as a finisher to keep the ends moisturized. I've never been to a salon that used an oil as a heat protectant on wet hair, as oils work best on dry hair and as a finisher. So Alana is absolutely doing the right thing by protecting her ends with oil. Hair oils are meant to keep your ends healthy and moisturized, which helps prevent future damage/breakage. 3. I don't think Alana is saying that using Moroccanoil/Olaplex oils will magically make your hair grow. Moroccanoil is best suited for thicker hair types b/c as you said, it's hydrating... but that's exactly what damaged ends need! Applying a hair oil on your ends is actually REALLY important in helping your hair grow because your ends are the weakest part of the hair and that's where the breakage happens. Like, your hair doesn't break off at the roots, it breaks off at the ends where there's damage (like split ends). So hair oils will absolutely protect your ends from further damage by keeping the ends moisturized. If your ends are hydrated, it equals less dryness, which means less damage....which helps your ends grow instead of breaking off. 5. I'm sorry but this is probably your most misleading point. Washing your hair every day or every other day is NOT good for your hair health. How often you should wash your hair depends on your hair type. If you have fine hair, you should try to wash every 3 days; medium hair should wash every 3-4 days, and thicker/coarse hair can go 5+ days in between washes. If you need to wash your hair every other day, then you're probably A). not using a good shampoo B). not shampooing your hair twice - this is super important b/c it really gets rid of oils and product build up in your scalp. You'll see a difference if you use a high quality shampoo + shampoo twice (especially if you're using that much olaplex oil). If you do use a high quality shampoo and/or you shampoo twice but you do it every other day, then you're actually stripping your hair of its natural oils, which is more damaging than blow-drying. So Alana is doing the right thing by only washing her thick hair once a week. Air drying is great and all, but I wouldn't say heat is the root cause of damage. Heat styling is bad for your hair when you use it every single day and/or when you don't protect your hair against heat (ex: not using a flat iron spray when curling or straightening hair, or not using a blow-dry cream before blow-drying). Ideally you want to use heat tools only on your wash day to style your hair, and then wait 3 or more days until you use a heat tool again. And you want to avoid heat on dry hair - that's what causes a lot of damage. As for air drying, hair is in its weakest state when it's wet, and _for some people_ air drying every single time _could_ actually contribute to dryness, which can lead to damage. I'm not saying never air dry your hair, sometimes there's no time to style your hair and you gotta air dry... but using heat tools is not the enemy, just gotta learn how to use them properly! For years, I used to mostly air dry my thick, frizz-prone hair and I found that it was more damaging for *_my_* hair. So I found that blow-drying my hair made my hair look and feel healthier. Again, this is just _my personal experience_ - I know plenty of people who air dry their hair and they have beautiful hair! But I wouldn't recommend what works on *_my_* hair to other people without knowing their hair type. Also, the olaplex oil is suuuuuper concentrated. if you're using 10 drops that might explain why your second-day hair looks like it hasn't been washed in a month. You likely need a clarifying shampoo to remove all that build up 🧼 7. Wearing the hair up is not what's causing breakage, it's probably the hair ties. Scrunchies or invisibobbles are the way to go. With hair clips I think you still need to be careful when taking them out because I've definitely gotten breakage from them. I switched to using invisibobbles and it's way less damaging, imo! I think Alana is explaining what worked for *_her_* hair type, I don't think she's saying "go buy these products because they will make your hair grow". If you see a person with thick wavy hair explaining their hair care routine and you have pin-straight fine hair, then obviously don't copy her routine because it's not going to work...common sense. I highly recommend checking out the Blowout Professor's KZbin channel, he explains a lot of these concepts in more detail and with examples. www.youtube.com/@BlowoutProfessor So, Alana thank you for sharing your process🖤

@@CloudsMassacre You need a mask AND the oils. Oils are extremely important in keeping your ends healthy and moisturized since all of your breakage happens at the ends of your hair. No one's hair breaks off at the root. A good hair mask alone won't make a difference. If anything oils are actually more helpful since a mask can only repair so much. Oiling your ends is a super important step in repairing damage.
