Great tips! Here are some of mine:1. Break up daunting tasks. Instead of writing, "Write history paper" on your to do list, write down smaller steps like "do research," "write outline," and "write page one."2. Have an easier, more fun task planned after a big daunting one.3. If possible, exercise every morning for at least ten minutes. You will have more energy all day.4. Take care of yourself. Shower, brush your hair, and wear clothes you feel good in. If you dress like a slob, you will feel like a slob, and you probably won't be as energetic or get as much done.5. Make your workspace clean! You will feel better about yourself and be less distracted.

nice one's man. here are a couple more: rather than making a to-do list, make more of a game plan. so if you have 5 hours to do a bunch of things, write them out in the order you want to complete them. also include breaks for cooking, eating, relaxing etc. a cool program to literally remove distractions is cold turkey, it places a lock on websites of your choice for your specified amount of time

*I have a suggestion* Because I'm a perfectionist, I got to a point where I couldn't enjoy drawing anymore because of my critics, and in my mind if I could solve this problem, I will enjoy drawing again, so talk about this in an episode and like how to overcome it and enjoy drawing, how to enjoy drawing, what else can stand in your way to enjoy drawing, you know, things like these.
@skellexis4047 жыл бұрын
Husam Ezzi I have a similar problem. I would benefit greatly from a video on that topic.
@citroken7 жыл бұрын
This isn't a long term suggestion but maybe if you drew stuff and didn't show anyone, just for fun for yourselves sometimes that could help you get back into it and from there slowly start exposing your work to supportive people you trust until you're comfortable to keep moving it up and show others? :)
@HusamEzzi7 жыл бұрын
Well, That's what I try to do these days but it's still hard cause my self critics just can't stop annoying me.
@valedro7 жыл бұрын
This is a big issue. I would also like a video on this topic. :) My tips are: 1. Figure out where the critique is coming from. Think back to your childhood. The roots of your perfectionism are there. 2. Recognize that perfection doesn't exist. 3. Draw something that you don't have a perfect idea about in your head, such as abstract blocks, swirls or lines. Think of it as art therapy, not making art. 4. Tackle your fears of failure and rejection by journaling and talking about them to a psychologist. 5. Seek inspiration from other artists but avoid comparing your work to others' work. 6. Be patient and forgiving with yourself if your recovery takes a while. Relish in the process of it. :)
@mariamar4737 жыл бұрын
this happens to everyone but from other people's critics... fighting with your own critics must be hard but the way i think about it is this: "In your imaginary world where this lady(if u r into portraits) exists has the exact same face..and everything is correct...." nobody can say u did something wrong as this can actually exist in an imaginary world... it might sound complicated... but that's my point of view :) (btw i make portraits but even when i use reference photos i never use an eraser :D )

Something that I do is allow myself to take little breaks during the day. Five, ten, fifteen minutes. I just go to my bed, watch something on youtube or better, just listen to a song, that's it. Doing that, I refresh my mind and I'm able to continue my work (I do watercolor paintings) and that way I feel less in a temptation to use my phone or distract myself leading to procrastination. Happy I'll do a watercolor painting of you this week, I am dedicating a time of my month to paint people that inspired me. I will hashtag you on instagram, hope you like ^^

Another tip when writing a to do-lists, is to write down ways to accomplish your goals instead of just the goal by itself. For instance, instead of writing finish the project or get an A on the next test, you can write spend two hours working on the project or reading to the test. That way it is easier to accomplish and you won't let yourself down by having misjudged how long time it will take. I hope this was helpful and my English was understandable. ^^

I think that it helps to do hard stuff first thing in the morning too. I usually do most of my household stuff before 10am so that I can do bits of art related stuff between feeding my boys, play time, and bath time, etc. it helps a lot to have the feeling of free time. but being a mother of two boys doesn't leave much time for details these days I've been mostly just practicing new things while my boys sleep/nap together.

I like to plan out my week and devote at least an hour a day to being creative. I also reward myself for doing the more daunting tasks by giving myself a change to craft or paint. Sometimes I'll even give myself a little treat for accomplishing something I don't necessarily like to do, like hand washing dishes I'll eat a little chocolate or get myself a new paintbrush. 😊

I have a suggestion for how to write your art schedules: break down each step of your project and be VERY specific about each task. For instance, if you have a piece of art that's going to take you about five days to a week, don't just write "Do XYZ" for every day of the week. Write something like this: Thumbnail XYZ Pencil XYZ Ink XYZ Flat XYZ Shade/Highlight XYZ Write Description for XYZ By doing this, you know exactly what you're supposed to be doing every day, what you've already done, and what you still have left. Once you get used to that, you can really get a feel for how long the steps are going to take. You can begin to plan extra time when you feel like a certain step might be particularly challenging or time-consuming by adding multiple instances of a step (Flat XYZ 1/3). You can even use it to gauge when you can get ahead of schedule. Usually, I add "Finish(?) XYZ" to the end of each project cycle to set aside some time to add finishing touches or to catch up on work I may not have been able to do earlier. However, I will that your steps should preferably be as small and simple as possible. Why? So when you fall behind (everybody does, don't sweat it too hard), it's very easy to visualize what you have to do and then play catch-up. On the flip side, it helps you, as I mentioned earlier, get ahead but also stay ahead. It's much easier to move forward via clear increments than by some unknown amount. One of the best aspects of this method is that even if you don't perform each task every day, you have set yourself a deadline, so, at the end of each project cycle, you know that your piece, at the very latest, has to be done by such-and-such a day. Planning each step out in this manner is simply a time-efficient plan of getting it done by that allotted time. I've been using this system for a long time now. Seeing every part of the process makes it seem not as daunting, and it makes it easier to stay on track and stay productive. Hope that helps somebody~

my tips for getting work done: - set a set time for certain piece of work for example like I will set 1 hour for this math paper and I will have to finish it within one hour or else it will eat into my free time etc - also I like writing lists but counter intuitively I don't write down the small things because then I won't get the major parts done and then only do the easier (in comparison) tasks :)

Man I'm so bad with procrastinating I'll find staring at the wall or doodling on math homework more entertaining than my phone 😂 Or I'll spend like 50% of my time making my to do list perfect and adding a bunch to it. My tip though would be to put on music that makes you feel pumped and happy. Of course sometimes this doesn't work depending on what you do. I usually prefer classical music in the background while I do homework so I can't get distracted by singing the lyrics (humming requires less focus for me than getting the lyrics perfectly) and I like to put on dancing music for chores that are otherwise boring. I find this just makes things a lot more fun. Other than that a lot of other people mentioned good things like keeping your work space clean and stuff which is harder for me cause I live in a mess 24/7 but on rare days when my room is clean it does feel a lot more productive and relieving to have a clean workspace.

Want to tell about my tip too. People are usualy procrastinate while they should do that type of things, that they don't want to do. But I am the QUEEN OF PROCRASTINATION, I always procrastinate, even when I should do the work, which I love too much. And that times my tip is to think like: "This is the work, that you love to do, it gives you a lot of pleasure, you do your work very good and is you can do this much better, if you will work right now. You are great in work you love and you should show it to the world." It brings me out of the bed in one monent! If there something of you, who feel the same sometimes, don't worry, you are not alone! Try this method and I hope, it will help you

hey everyone, i've noticed in the comments section that a lot of you are currently struggling with self-control. guess what? there's an app for that. the one i recommend for mac users is literally called "self control," but you can also just google "site blockers" and one will come up for whatever program you use. it's quick and easy, so if you catch yourself spiraling out of control, you can block anything on your "blacklist" for a period of your choosing up to 24 hours. just a fun tip i've found to be extremely helpful! Hey! I've been watching and admiring your channel for a p long time now, and I wanted to suggest a few things that could take your art a small step further (this isn't hate, or me trying to change your art style- I freaking LOVE everything you do! You have such a unique art style and your paintings always portray incredible emotions): -try experimenting with lighting! You generally tend to use natural lighting which is 100% fine, but I think you could be able to create even MORE emotion and thought through a piece with different types of lighting- for example, sunlight through trees, fire light flickering beside someone, the light coming from behind and creating a thin outline, or an unnatural light (like a room light) and how it borders the face/certain areas of the face. -Practice with different kinds of animals! I know how much you LOVE lunar moths and I can see that, they're gorgeous! But I think you use them in almost every painting? (I'm not quite sure, and I'm not judging for that, I think it's rlly cool!). It just kinda sets the same emotion in a piece. Try experimenting with different butterflies, moths, flowers and animals! I think it could help a lot! Obviously, you don't have to do these things, and I'm not going to force you! I just think these could help with expressing the feeling that you want the art to portray (again, you do this excellently already)!
