My grandpa is now an artist. He was originally an IU professor. When he retired he took a painting class and is now selling his artwork and hosting art galleries to show off his work. He had kids who were all grown up and wasn't the youngest but he still was able to become a great artist. I take great inspiration from him and thats what my goal is. To be an artist like him.

So i am currently going through all those negative thoughts and feeling very much behind, although i'm also im my late 20's. @Happy D. Artist, I think you are so amazing. I just found your channel last night. I think your art work may have just become my favorite. I have loved drawing and coloring since I was really young, like 4/5. I used to go to my grandma and grandpa’s house and they’d have greeting cards and birthday cards around the house. I would grab ones that I liked and get some computer paper and just look at them and draw as close as I could to what they look like. Obviously I was little so it wasn’t as if I was trying to steal credit for anyone’s artwork lol. But I went from tracing and coloring in to starting to reference and get better with my art at such a young age. I always loved art and never saw what everyone else did in my artwork until I started art class in elementary school up to high school. I’d see I wasn’t the furthest along as most, but was still ahead of some. I also started to notice I had a different style which in some ways helped me from comparing. I relate to so much topics you bring up as in not ever thinking your work is good enough or always picking apart my work. I’m starting to get back into it again and bought a handful or art reference books from anime, to anatomy, to simple illustrations that can come from practicing simple shapes. Watching you and others on on KZbin being about my desire to sit and practice and excite me so much. I think you are beyond talented and could only dream to one day make even a smidgeon of the absolute beauty you create. I love listening to you and learn so much. I am so very excited I found you and have been watching your videos nonstop since last night. Definitely became a super fan. Thank you for sharing your artwork and experiences Happy. You are truly an amazing person and artist. You are beyond beautiful inside and out and are someone I aspire to gain knowledge from. So happy to virtually meet you Happy😊💗⭐️✌🏻✍🏻🧜🏻♀️🧚🏻♀️🐠🦋🌺🌈🍜🍛🍧🥃🥢🎨💻🖌🖊✏️🖍 💙Your fan, Taryn xo

Your videos make me feel so inspired! I remember the first time I found by accident one of your videos around a year ago, and honestly, I can feel a change in me. I felt so bored with my art, or afraid to show it, so I kept painting for myself mostly, and with time, just didn't want to find time for it. I am practicing again, even if I need to practice for only 30 min, and while I draw, I listen to your amazing advices. Thank you so much for taking your time to create so many amazing videos! Your beautiful creations are a reflection of yourself, and you are truly someone to look up to in the art world. Art in my country is not very appreciated though, but that doesn't stop me now to create what my heart desires! Hugs from Santo Domingo

Thank you so much, I really needed to hear this today. I've had this feeling that I'm "too old" or it's "too late" to start something new since I was a kid. I don't know why, but I have this mentality that if I'm not already doing something, or I'm not already an expert at something, then I shouldn't do it because everyone else is already doing it better than I ever could. Obviously, that's not true and it's a stupid reason not to do something. Thank you for the reminder.

i'm not as old as maybe some others, but i'm almost 30 now and I always regretted not doing art a lot more when I was much younger and had the chance. I stopped doing art for nearly 5 years and missed out on so many opportunities. But even despite this, I figured "It's never too late." And I jumped headlong into it again and do not regret it. My own mother didnt really start doing art much either until after 45-50, and she still paints to this day and is happy.

Since about a year I'm drawing, painting and sculpting as much as my free time allows me to and I do really see that the more I try, the better I become.. I didn't sell any of my paintings yet but I still remember those crazy feelings as I sold my first polymer clay figurines on Etsy.. I'm the happiest person ever when I can draw or create something and do really hope that my love for art won't just stay as a hobby.. You are definitely one of my biggest inspirations and I'm always fascinated how beautiful your artwork turns out..

this is beautiful. I have one question, when I paint oil I need a loot of time for it to dry before doing lighter colors above, like white. did you do this in a single day or there was a drying process I can't catch on the video? if you did it in one day, how do you manage to paint over darker tones with white? thank you, and those quotes were really good, I knew about a few of them but not all.

Thank you so much for making this video and sharing your thoughts on this. I know I've said on a previous video of yours that I'm in my mid 50s and only just now learning how to draw and paint and that I do want it to become a career for me. This sudden shift is due to reasons I won't worry about going into just because it will make this comment too long. I will say though, in my current work I'm self employed and my is very artistic focused so my decision to extend myself to another form of art is not surprising but learning to draw and paint most definitely is a surprise because I truly have never had much of an aptitude for drawing etc. Nevertheless watching/listening to your videos as well as several others on youtube I've learned that I can do this. I've amazed myself with my progress so far so thankyou once again for showing me that I really can draw more than stick people lol.
