Great video! I've decided that, with my crazy hectic summer, ultras will need to wait until fall. I've found several tough trail half marathons, and think I'll actually try to do well at them, as opposed to my typical slow back of the pack 50ks. This video will help, thanks!

Half marathons are fantastic training in the build up to ultras Kelly, I started with a couple of those in the autumn last year, and now I've just done a 50 miler with no probs, so this will be you too! Claire

Super helpful tips! I ran a Ragnar Trail Relay last weekend which was a blast and hope to run a trail half/25k after wrapping up a couple of road races. I'll bookmark this for when it's time!

Is it overkill if I use a hydration vest with a 1.5 L water reservoir and drinking hose for trail half marathons? I mean, dang, I really feel like I need that much fluid for a 13 mile race especially hot humid summer races. Sometimes it can be an eternity until the next aid station….

It's not overkill if that's what you need, take it and enjoy your race drinking whenever you need to!
