I am happy I saw this video. When my avoidant ex broke up with me, he was at least honest. (He monkey branched aided by her family. He wanted to "see where it goes". We had shifted to a situationship). We did hug and say goodbye. He wanted me to remain in his life as a friend. Nope. I let him go. I am happy I handled the situation with grace. No tears, compliants, questions. I wished him well, and let him go. In hindsight as time has passed, I now see the whole thing in a different light.He never meant to hurt me. I know he misses me. He probably feels the loss from time to time. We lasted four years together. He texts briefly occasionally, but we haven't seen each other. It's been nine months now. I’m sure these are great things for some people, I’d kill for the opportunity to hold her hand, hug her or even just look at her closer than from across a room. My ex is completely radio silent after breaking up with me. She’s full of self pity and doubt, she knows she hurt me and feels overwhelming guilt for that. She says she is messed up inside and needs to grow up, which I believe. I just figured it would be easier to learn and grow with me than without me. We were only together a few months, she asked for a second chance which I offered in the way of “I’d be open to that” and asked her to coffee, she gladly accepted then failed to make plans. Now, it’s all but silent, I see her at work everyday and it’s silent ignoring for the most part. Regardless as to whether we are men or women, human beings always have the tendency to say something that they don't mean whenever that they are highly emotional. Maybe because our defense mechanisms tend to come in that is why some tend to be in a reaction mode instead of being in response mode.

Thank you for putting up videos like this makes us stable in these confusing situations. My ex and i broke up 2 1/2 mos ago, she cheated and her life crumbled right in front of her. Like very serious stuff life altering. Did no contact gave her what she wanted but contacted me a few times in that period. Finally she decided she was over with that guy. She contacted me 6 weeks post break up. Basically for reasons I know she needed my help and support and I knew she knew I am the one she could still trust and I will never abandon her like that knowing how delicate her situation was. Fast forward, we text daily for a good month now, she initiates almost all the time, even though she is obviously wounded and traumatized as to what happened to her after cheating and the break up. We have seen each other every week. She holds my hand, hugs me, touches me, one time even gave me a kiss. Tells me thank you and she loves me after meet ups. I talked to her first week of contact like wth are we doing. She said sorry and owned up to it, she wants to sort her life out fix herself then maybe we can try again. Told her we need to take it slow because we will be changed by this. I sort of gave her a green light last night that if her texting is out of habit she isnt obligated to do that. She can have all the time a space if she wants. (Some weeks she has been off and I took it personally) She practically disagrees and is still texting. I am a little confused as to how long shall I wait and if this is really good for me. I do love and care for her so much and been working on letting go of the pain she caused me. He’s been consistently doing #1 and essentially #3. He’s been initiating and making bids to connect when there is no logical reason to do so. He also made a bid to repair after an awkward encounter that we had, and made a point of engaging in a 20 minute conversation with me when there was no reason to do so. I’ve initiated 2x via text and both times he’s responded to me immediately. When he engages with me he’s complimentary, flirtatious and asks questions about my life, while also filling me in on his. He also told me I’ve been in his dreams. There have been a few positive pullbacks as well. We’ve been really building rapport, but I suspect that there is a rebound. Interestingly enough, I believe he met her around the same time he started reaching out to me and continues to flirt with me. His body language says it all, but he is still dragging his feet. @clayandrews, I don’t know what else I can do… It’s also important to note that I did not make any of the typical breakup mistakes (ie: begging, pleading, clinging), nor was there any fall out or any negative reason stated for the breakup. He told me that his, “heart wasn’t in it.” This was after breaking up with me once due to lack of time to spend together due to his work (he’s an entrepreneur), then 18 days later asking if I’d be willing to go to a movie with him. This led to more dates and him eventually asking me if we should try again. A month later, after I had been away for 2 weeks, he caught me off guard with, “his heart wasn’t in it.” 28 days later he reached out to me again asking about specific details of my life. Since then, we’ve interacted over text and in person. After really positive interactions I won’t hear from him for a week or 2 and then out of nowhere I will. What gives, @clayandrews?
