What’s one big thing you see happening with streaming in 2024?

I have the same idea, and agree with the notion of the sports predictions. The idea of an antenna is great.

I hope the FCC says no to local tv providers who want live tv services to pay up. They (local tv stations) are the biggest culprits when it comes to the rising cost of tv. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Frugal Rules 🎉🎄

I agree totally in the way streaming is going this year. I dropped Netflix and MAX now because of the nickel/dime increases every year. Plus I didn't watch them that much so why keep paying them. I see streaming services are trying to drag in Sports watchers by their enticements to games of the week, etc. I get all my local sports events on Antenna, so their enticements do not attract me subscribing. Right now I have just Prime Video and I do allot of shopping on Amazon. The next big thing for me is what this ATSC 3.0 does for my free local Antenna channel watching since I don't have any 3.0 tuners at this time. Will ATSC 1.0 be disabled for some or all channels in a few years. I know the main purpose of 3.0 is to prevent Recordings. Time shall Tell. Thanks for your video.

Yes, services are definitely wanting to get into the sports game in hopes of brining in new subscribers. Time will tell how successful they'll be overall.

Thanks guys for your work. Merry Christmas 🎁🎄. Even though I agree with you, isn’t cable cooked? Did you see the NYT article about how most cable channels have become “Zombies”basically airing nonstop reruns? If it survives there will be fewer channels. There has to be. We have to be reaching a point where advertisers won’t pay for nonstop Law and Order marathons. 😊
@FrugalRules Жыл бұрын
We would say so. Re: constant reruns, time will tell how that goes. If people are still watching it, in numbers, advertisers will pay, but the question of how long is the real one.
@dfizzbom Жыл бұрын
Right now, taking into consideration what we watch, the only savings I see from dropping cable is the equipment rental. Live TV streaming has gotten expensive. For internet alone from Optimum it's about $110 a month plus the modem charge every month. All I'd be saving is the three cable boxes in the house at around $40 a month. It's a very sad situation to have to pay what amounts to a new car payment every month to watch TV. My biggest predication- there won't be any savings to cutting the cord at all and combined with the confusion of live sports and such, the complications make it even less attractive. Shame.
@FrugalRules Жыл бұрын
That's certainly a fair point, and live TV is the real sticking point here. If a person can live without it, for the most part, there's still a good bit of savings that can be had. However, like you said, that live sports piece is going to become more of an issue over the next year or so. For the casual fan, it may not be THAT big of an issue, but for those that aren't casual it's going to be more of an issue.

@@FrugalRules Red Zone has become all I need for NFL but we watch every NY Met's game so having SNY is very important. I don't believe the MLB network is enough. And in that case, currently Hulu Live has SNY in their lineup.

Peacock was never launched as a stand-alone here in the U.K. the only way to access it is to pay for sky tv and you get peacock included. But to be honest the content we get over here on peacock is utter garbage.

Hi Nicole this question is for you remember when you said that Roku/Fire TV sticks are becoming obsolete however it may not be going as obsolete as quickly as projected I tested out smart TVs with either Fire TV or Roku onboard now it's there and works fine however the quality is not as premium as with the stick now this might be done with intention you want the premium experience then buy our stick then there's some factors to prove it may not die quickly for one as humans we are creatures of habit and have had sticks in our lives since 2015 possibly even before so it's natural to us plus they don't take up much space and have just become a part of our TV plus they aren't even wickedly expensive even the higher end Roku Ultra goes on sale often for 79.99 sometimes even as low as 59.99 and the more basic 4K goes as low as 25 yes it will eventually die as technology gets better it just won't be anytime soon even smart TVs themselves will die out as we get close to the hologram version that takes up no space or weight
@FrugalRules Жыл бұрын
Great points! I agree with you. I think we are creatures of habit :) And, sticks are still very convenient for those who travel so I think there will be a market for them, for some time to come!

@@FrugalRules Merry Christmas Nicole one more piece of news there's a new 3rd player in the smart tv platforms we all know Roku and Fire TV aboard but since so many people have complained that Chromecast wasn't supported on many apps well now Google has entered their hat in the ring there's now Smart TV that have Chromecast as the Smart platform I have the Vizio version of this but even though it's really nice to have Chromecast aboard and work's with any app on the Vizio however as a smart tv platform it's terrible talk about slim pickings of available apps they offer your usual big streaming services but offer virtually nothing for niche appsike fitness both Amazon and Roku off many many and each even have exclusive ones but Chromecast models offer almost nothing

Honestly, most of the sports I watch can be watched off the antena. I like youtube TV the best. But if they try to increase the price, ill go back to sling blue and the Antena. I have Max baked into my phone plan and netflix. Once my kid gets over the bluey craze im looking to drop disney plus with ads.

Why did we all Cancel our cable TV anyway!ggggggrrrrr.
@shackdaddy7106 Жыл бұрын
It’s very simple. Because streaming was cheaper at first and you did save money. Now streaming is heading the way of cable and satellite. I am lucky. I have a good over the air antenna so I can watch the NFL. And plus I have all the popular free streaming services. I am not one of those that are bothered by commercials because I understand that’s what makes the TV free to me. A lot of people just do not understand that. I will continue with my current subscriptions to Paramount+ for free actually because now I am a Walmart plus member. And Peacock is only cost me $1.99 a month until October. And Hulu combined with Disney+ and STARZ is only costing me $7.50 per month , for I think about another five months. Going into the spring of next year. In about March I will reassess my situation and see what combination will give me the best value for my buck. But there is no way I’m going to spend more than $50 a month to watch TV. And I know I can do that.

I’m fine w/streamers requiring a 2 yr commitment, provided they reciprocate w/no lost channels & no price increase. They break their end of the deal, then so can I. That would be fair.

@FrugalRules Жыл бұрын
With as much as sports are being spread out one would hope that wouldn't happen. However, you only need to look at services like Fubo, DTV Stream, etc to see it is happening, and likely won't be going anywhere anytime soon.
