I have a similar experience with Spectrum/Charter. They were jacking up my bill almost every month. Finally reached my breaking point, canceled cable but kept internet. Should have done it years ago. They couldn't care less about their longtime customers. Going to check out T Mobil internet. The one negative is navigating YTTV guide with remote, not as simple as Spectrum. That said, for price difference, well worth it.

I had KZbinTV when it was $35/month. I basically watch only news and sports, which makes seasonal cancelling impossible. Cancelled it when it got around $75/month. That's WAY too much for the handful of channels II watch, especially since I'm on a fixed income. Swing isn't ultimately cheaper. You have to go Blue and Orange to get the news channel I want with ESPN.

Good video. I paused my KZbin TV in April, and canceled a few days ago. The price for what I am watching was just too much. I don't really watch sports, so Philo was perfect for me. I am paying the additional $10 for additive content there and am still saving a lot of money. Further, Google as a company has turned me off in many ways. Massive layoffs, cancelling products that people came to rely on, and the nonsense they are pulling on creators shows me that they've lost interest in consumers. The lesson for me is to stick with companies who have products that speak to their core competencies, not companies who want to play in someone else's backyard and leave when they're bored.

I definitely agree with Michael! I hear the exact same thing from other content creators. People with even more subscribers are getting the same stuff that you are getting....invalid traffic...what a joke. Lets be honest YT is trying to save money and unfortunately a lot of creators are completely leaving, and I find that very disheartening. YT is not what it used to be. Sorry to hear about traffic issues. Been with YTTV for about 4 years and love it. Picture really clear 1080P for most content. Cheaper than cable for local news and sports. Just don't like the ads. There is a huge banner for HBO and GOT as an add on that takes up 1/3 of my picture at top of screen. STOP. Remember when paying for streaming got rid of ads??

When I cut the cord on regular cable years ago and switched to streaming, I never went back. Traditional TV is tedious and annoying due to the commercials. We had been skipping ads for many years, and in November 2015, we finally cut the cord for good. We've never regretted it. Occasionally, I come across a regular TV, and I'm always repulsed by the commercials.

KZbin TV has been one of the best for me too, but I have some major issues with it. ❤ My father has Alzheimer's, and it has been so difficult for him to use it. 😢💔🙏🏻 KZbin TV's UI is horrible! Every day my dad struggles with changing channels because it doesn't sync up to our remotes correctly. The only reason we're keeping it is because it is definitely good for cost-saving compared to cable, but they really need to improve the user experience, especially for disabled or impaired people. Even I struggle navigating the interface, and I'm a very tech-savvy person. I've heard a lot of other people complain about these issues as well. I'm glad you made this video and brought some of these issues to light. I think KZbin TV is one of the best out there right now, but they definitely need to make navigating it easier for users and making it so it's not so clunky!

Your videos have helped me a lot and I have shared them with others. I look forward to the day when there is alternative to KZbin (the same way is we are finally seeing an alternative to Adobe), so that when Google/KZbin gets slimy, we can just move on. As for live TV, when I cancelled cable a couple of years ago, I picked up Philo (due to a T-Mobile deal) and I mainly use it for on-demand content, not live TV. It also allows me to sign into certain networks' own apps to watch content. Otherwise, I've been on-demand ever since - I watch what I want, when I want.

KZbin and Google are already slimy... they are the definition of evil and greed. I hope AI puts them both out of business. They censor and push a political agenda all while flooding the pages with paid advertisements in a greedy way.

Yes! If there is (hopefully soon) a sports-focused streaming service like the one you mentioned, I'll be all over it. I find that I normally watch "live" TV only for live sports, and - as you mentioned - "regular" KZbin for most everything else. I am a firm believer that you should ALWAYS have a LIVE VOICE, in the event you have a problem with YT. This is called Customer Service, something KZbin is clearly lacking with the creators that have made it a lot of $$ over the years. When you receive a notification that you've been striked for a violation yet you have no way to defend yourself, that is no way to run a business. There are so many creators that go out of their way to hurt each other and KZbin allows this. I could go on and on but I believe you all will get the point.

The only thing I pay for is KZbin Premium and it's worth every penny. I have an antenna with a Tablo but I find myself hardly ever using it anymore, even my local news has a KZbin page where I can watch the stories of the day when I want and leave the rest. Rather than watching a 30-minute newscast I'm done in 5 to 10 minutes, commercial free. Regular television, there's just nothing there for me, it's just done as far as I'm concerned.

One of the reasons I cut the cable chord couple of years ago and chose KZbin TV was in part due to your reviews and receiving local stations like PBS, ABC, CBS and NBC. I'm beginning to think live streaming in general, is a waste of money.. We subscribe to Sling Blue because my wife is fond of a specific cable news channel that is available on it. But if I had my way, I would drop it completely. And do the free 'AD supported' versions really do ANYthing to differentiate themselves from each other? How many times can one watch "Fail Army' and old John Wayne Westerns before our collective jaws go slack? I don't follow sports and I am suspicious of news outlets in general. I am also suspicious of the Big Tech companies like Google and Microsoft. (I am a Microsoft Recall refugee recently moved to Linux). I feel like the whole thing has me trapped in some sort of real world, "The Truman Show". You are correct to stop giving Google any more money, your reasons are sound. Now, it is up to the rest of us to find reasons to stop as well.

I originally "cut the cord" a few years ago, mainly because "there just wasn't much I wanted to watch" on any of all of those channels. Yes, I tried KZbin TV when I first started without cable TV, but guess what? It was the same story. Of course. After trying a few different things, what I really wound up watching most of the time was -- you've got it -- just plain old KZbin videos, like this one. Dozens, if not hundreds, of new "episodes" are available, every single day. And yes, I do this IN SPITE of all of the evil that Google and KZbin spews across the Internet. Sorry about your current issues with YT. I want to thank you for a YTTV tutorial (from 4 yrs ago) that I just watched. I just joined YTTV after a 2 or 3 years absence from traditional TV service. I completed forgot how to navigate some of the features and your vid was excellent. Even though I live in Bay Area I am in a dead zone -unable to receive OTA signal. I’ve tried all the options. For years I’ve had various providers starting with PrimeStar so I could receive the then new TCM which Oakland cable did not provide. YTTV seems to be my best option, hoping pixelation won’t be an issue. I have fiber optic from Sonic and at last check was getting 698 Mbps. Only plan to remain on YTTV till election and inauguration are over. I’m only doing this so I can get CNN and MSNBC unlocked and beyond highlights on YT and Peacock. Thanks again for reminding me how to manage Library functions. BTW was unable to comment on that specific tutorial as for some reason that option was not available. I was using Duck Duck Go .

KZbin TV is terrible. We canceled before the free trial was up and they still keep charging my dad monthly. It's creepy because then he canceled the card they had on file and somehow are charging him on the new card he had even though he never gave them that card number. So we're resorting to having to call his bank monthly and have them fight with youtube tv. Very very annoying

That's because the credit card company automatically transfers subscriptions from the old card to the new card. If a charge comes through for a subscription using the old card number, they still charge the account for it- this is because numbers change a lot due to card loss/fraud.

Due to weak Wi-Fi, I’ve tried to cancel the account with no luck. I’ve tried numerous times per their directions and still being changed for a service I can’t and don’t use. I believe them making it impossible to cancel is basically a means to steal.

Tried everything, could not cancel. Finally spoke with a representative (?), he wanted a $ 249.00 cancellation fee. That went over like a lead balloon. Called CC to stop all payments and requested refunds. Expecting a battle with UT. Can be assured there will be no positive reviews from me.

How are they charging? Bank, or CC? Call the bank, or Cc company and have them stop paying. You have records, so think twice about paying after you cancelled.

Never fkd with yttv... Too expensive out the gate. It's like they missed the point of cable cutting. I expect an incredible deal of value, it's like paying for any other 4 or 5 streaming services each month. It's got to be 4 to 5 times more valuable at a minimum but it's just a ton of content I'd never touch. 🎉

I just refuse to pay $80 a month for the 3-4 channels I watch. If Google gave one a sliding monthly fee, based on a choice of 3-4 channels - I would def consider that - but none of them do.....so I also have said goodbye to YT TV. I can get my news from Yahoo News and or CNN's site etc.

Invalid traffic ? 18 months with NO resolution ? It is obvious they aren't going to do anything and that is disgusting. I got rid of my KZbin TV because it is waaaay too expensive. Last year I had KZbin TV plus the NFL Sunday Ticket. It was more expensive than the DirectTV days. They have become what they undercut and are just as expensive. I pay extra for KZbin with no ads because that is what I noticed I was watching more than anything. I won't be renewing my NFL Sunday Ticket or my KZbin TV.

And it was a total LIE by both KZbin and the NFL, who when they sold the rights to KZbin, said it would be more affordable. It's currently MORE. I know...I've had Sunday Ticket since the year it came out which was 1994. They all crooks....cable, big tech, and the sports leagues. How much is too much?

This is inaccurate. As a YTV subscriber I get my NFL Sunday Ticket for $250 ( if before deadline ) Directv charged $300 for base package of ST and $400 for ST Max. I had DTV for like 20 years because of ST. To have all of the sports channels I want, DTV was charging me $180 a month. YTV has the same sports channels in their base package for $77.27 a month. Huuuuuuge savings.

I’m paying for YTTV it’s the best for sports and prime time tv. Which is what I like and my fiance likes prime time. And 50 bucks a month for a service just for a fee sports channels is ridiculous. I rather pay thee extra 20 bucks and have 85 more channels. And also my family can use the service etc. so we can split the bill so 73 bucks is not that bad. I love YTTV and what they babe to offer. And hopefully they don’t increase the price again. Anytime soon

I've done the opposite. I used to cobble together several streaming services and had an antenna for locals. But I got tired of doing all that. Went to Direct TV Stream(1st time with them) and I like it much better. I bought one of their refurbished streaming boxes and really like their format. Having a back lit remote is nice too plus being able to change the channels with numbers as in the old days. People will complain about the commercials but I record most everything I want to watch and FF through those. So maybe I'm spending more than a true cord cutter but I'm fine with it. I enjoy what I have.

The dangers of hitching your wagon to the star of an unaccountable tech behemoth. Google/KZbin can do whatever the hell they please and there's virtually nothing you can do about it. They can put you out of business overnight without so much as an explanation.These problems first became apparent to eBay sellers about 15 years ago. Honestly, they were foreseeable.

We need more options. YT has long since been the only game in town that matters when it comes to monetized video user created video content. To the point where it's gotten completely out of control with the way they treat creators. The worst part is you're going to need a huge name to move to another platform for it to even be a little deal. They're running the game and we're all worse off for it.

Great video as usual Michael. I too am considering dropping YTTV as my broadcast network needs are met using an antenna. The only cable network I watch fairly regularly is TCM. Quick question: is Max with ads the cheapest way to receive TCM? Thanks again for all you do.

Yes - Max has some TCM content, not the live channel. There is a free trial of Max if you want go check it out before paying.

Yeah.. I don't think I'll ever bother with paid live tv services at this point... Much more of a streaming service (Hulu, Disney+, Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc; I never have all of these at once, I just rotate every couple of months when I get sent an offer haha) person at this point and I'm happy because I feel like it saves me a lot of money hahaha. I also haven't bothered with cable.. pretty much my entire life (I remember enjoying like.. nick, cartoon network, and the disney channel if that helps with the age haha) so it just wouldn't make sense for me to start paying for it now haha.

Michael, Clark Howard was one of my childhood heroes. I’m from Athens, GA, and I graduated from UGA with a Degree in Consumer Econ. I love that you used to Produce his show (for the short time that it lasted). I’m thinking about pausing my KZbin TV, until football season begins. I’m only watching a couple of shows on it, currently. Everything else, I watch on MAX, Netflix, and Apple TV+.

KZbinTV may not be quite as good of a deal as it used to be, and I understand why people might turn to other cheaper options. But for people who still want something comparable to old cable TV, it's still an incredible deal, especially now that cable companies are getting even more shameless with their price increases. $73/month for YTTV isn't pocket change, but when cable has gone from $100 to $120 to $140 to $190 in the past few years, it's still by far the best way to get the same channel lineup for a lot less money, and with unlimited recording and easy access on your phone as well.
