Is there any other special bank notes we should be adding to our collection? 🇨🇳

You can ask at bank branches whether they have commemorative coins for sale. Or you can ask at the postal system about commemorative coins, which are formal and have transparent prices.
@PomegranateChocolate6 ай бұрын
Yes. I hope you can find the bank notes from the Chinese Soviet Republic National Bank era. These are the bank notes issued between 1932 to 1937 in Communist controlled area when the Chinese Communist still existed as a rebel group before it seized power in 1949. You may ask why it is called the Chinese Soviet Republic National Bank. This is because present day China started out as a Soviet puppet state called the Chinese Soviet Republic (中华苏维埃共和国) and was directly funded by the Soviet Union. The Chinese Communist Party was sometime referred to as the Ruble Party at that time because the party members received money from the Soviet Union. You can look up 'Chinese Soviet Republic National Bank' in Wikipedia for more information.

That 500 note from 1930 is pre-civil war and is the currency of the Republic of China. The image of Dr. Sun Yat-Sen is like the George Washington of China. Sun is the originator of the Zhongshan suit as an equivalent to the western business suit which westerners always mistaken as the Mao suit. He is the only figure that both the ROC and PRC Governments still hold to high esteem and his portrait is still displayed every ten years at the huge National Day Parades in Tienanmen Square.

The one from 1930 is from the Nationalist government or Kuomingtang, the one that was defeated by the communists and moved to Taiwan. This note is definitely a collector’s item. The “European looking”building that printed on the note is probably one of the old buildings you can still see at the Bund in Shanghai.

The Chinese health and hygiene authorities do take hygiene very seriously in the market. Sometimes unexpectedly you can see the health and hygiene inspectors walking around and checking on them. If they find out that your stall is not to the standard you can get a fine and your business shut down down for several days until you get your stall to the hygienic standard. Worst case scenario your business license getting revoke.

The massage lady is asking how old are you, and you replied with very good. The fruit that looks like a baby is pear, and they usually grow it in molds to give that appearance. The appearance is from the classic novel journey to the West where one of the chapters deals with a magic fruit which increases lifespan, and the fruit looks like a child. You might be more familiar with the show "Monkey magic," which was a Japanese adaptation of Journey to the West (apparently parts of it was filmed in China) with hilarious dubbing in English making it a cult classic.
