I’ve been searching for this type of content, because my 8 year old American Bully was diagnosed with DCM a year and a half ago . At the time of her diagnosis the veterinarian cardiologists told back them she gives my dog 5 months . But I took her off of Origen grain free and started feeding her fresh foods.( BARF) She was in a FDA heart study showed that the DCM was caused by the grain free food . I am making the transition to real food for my dogs. i used to just supplement my dogs kibble with real food now I am going totally real all the time 😂. Thank you so much for the useful tips on adding in Whole Foods to our doggies meals. I’m learning slowly & slowly adding in good foods. Im starting with sardines. I bought him a can at the grocery store the other night. In water, no salt added & no added seasonings. They are filets. Is that ok? I seen somewhere as well that they are full of nutrients & a little goes a long way & we don’t need to feed a lot of sardines for small dog in a week’s time. My Shih Tzu is 12-13 lbs. Are you able to say how much is ok to give a week ?

Exactly what I've been doing....less dry & adding freeze dried & moist meats and whatever appropriate leftovers happen to be available at the time (fresh/ocean salmon, organic chicken, etc) to help mix the taste up. Will begin giving less dry/kibble & increasing the freeze dried & moist meat > bummed to learn the dry loses nutritional value after 3-4 weeks of breaking the vacuum seal > been buying the bigger bags & storing in large container...which lasts 2+ 3 mos....no bueno. This year I could not afford any dog insurance so I decided to try out the vet clinic and I gave them my them their rabies shots, my female dogs. She got very sick right away after the shot and it was different from the first store shot. it was a generic I am devastated, because I am such an a need for the help and it’s like they don’t care. The rabies shots gave her a reaction and I am feeding her the pumpkin food to hydrate her because I cannot afford to take her to the emergency.

In humans, you shouldn't give honey to children under 2 years of age. Should the same (or similar) caution be taken with puppies?

Hi Rachel . I’m definitely going to try some of your recommendations. My girls love trying new stuff . We currently give them sweet potatoes steamed , raw carrots , pumpkin, coconut oil, bee pollen , chicken broth . I live a timed consuming lifestyle with work . Which is why I choose kibble . I make treats with pumpkin, Greek yogurt, and cinnamon. Sometimes I add blueberries and blackberries. I freeze them in little silicone molds that are shaped like little dog bones and they eat them frozen. I’m going to start adding manuka honey though! I wish I could afford to feed my dog raw but with him bei by a Saint Bernard he just eats too much. I do add either organ meats or sardines, and fresh vegetables everyday though. I switch up the vegetables I get every week. Still feel like I’m not doing enough though.

Hello Rachel, I have 3 dogs (full size) and I am hoping that you can give me some information about foods. I bought Open Farms kibble grass fed beef recipe grain free. I'm confused from all the things that I have to put in there bowl and how much should I put for other foods that I have to put in as well. Great video, like all your others! Regarding veggies, which I do feed my pups, I normally put them in food processor being i heard dogs don't digest veggies well w/o cutting up good. I don't steam or saute them, feed uncooked veggies in whatever meat I'm cooking for them. Now, I'm wondering if I should steam or saute their veggies. Love your vids!

I can only get frozen raw goat's milk here. Absolutely no one, even pet shops, sell unfrozen milk: Q: Can I unthaw and freezer, drizzle some on their lick mat with other things, and freeze the mat/food? Normally I don't refreeze any meat that's been frozen previously (or any previously frozen left-overs)....does this hold true with goat's milk, or it can be re-frozen with his lick-mat food? I asked in our pet shops here, the only place I can find raw goat's milk, but they don't know.
