I think your Love Note Sweater looks wonderful on you and not too cropped. I’ve been wanting to knit swith Lettlopi too so nice to see you going to work with it. It is rustic but I think it softens when washed.

Another great podcast. I’ve not knit any of the 5 sweaters you have shown us. They are all beautiful. I think, even for you, bringing them to the forefront may help encourage you to attempt one sooner than you might have. I totally agree regarding the cost of some yarns and then to add the laceweight mohair adds so much to the project. I hold back too. Maybe just pick one pattern that is one you’d like to start with and most times when you really read the pattern over, it’s less intimidating and reading others project notes on Ravelry is a great help too. I’m very grateful when others add helpful notes. I hope that helps.

@@darlenedavis3585 thanks Darlene! Great to see your name pop back up in the comments. I think you are right that making this video has inspired me to attempt knitting one of the sweaters sooner. ❤️ Hope you are well.

I've knit several color work sweaters. I love Jennifer Steingass patterns so far, I've only knit her Arboreal sweater and it turned out very fitted on me (I didn't do any waist shaping and I'm sure it's all on my knitting. I was happy I was able to give this as a gift to someone close to me that really LUV'd it so much.) In the future, when I knit her other patterns, I'd have to go up a couple sizes.
@coffeeknitswithsarah3 күн бұрын
I'll keep your tips in mind for when I get to knit any of her patterns. I know i am a tight knitter so I am sure I'll also have to go up a few sizes as well.

Hi Sarah. I would recommend you to knit the Andrea Mowry sweater first, before jumping into a Marie Wallin design, as it requires a lot of experience with colorwork. I have knitted quite a lot of fair Ilse and sometimes you are up to knitting with 4 threads at the same time.😅 I am from Denmark.

You have inspired me to knit the LoveNote sweater , very pretty. I made Forestland by Jenn Steingass but I didn't use high contrast colors like she did. Will have to do this one again. Love her designs. Excellent podcast, good luck.

Great podcast, Sarah! As I watch I am knitting the cuff on my second Felix pullover. It’s a great pattern and I’ve also made the cardigan version. You will love it! I used knitting for olive heavy merino held with a strand of their soft silk mohair. I love it!!

I have the Dartmoor and Alpenglow on my to knit list as well as the Love Note. I didn’t see the appeal of the Ranunculus until I knit it and now I love wearing it, so I think the Love Note will also be a favourite for me. I love the lacework in the yoke.

@@lavendercottagefibrearts the Ranunculus is on my list to knit eventually. Comparing it to the Love Note is really helpful so thank you. Makes it seem less daunting to me.

Hi - thanks for a lovely podcast. I've knit the Dartmoor sweater - and it's one of my most worn garments. I used some hand dyed yarn that I had bought on a special holiday - so it has happy memories too. It fits beautifully and is also a really lovely project to knit on.
@coffeeknitswithsarah2 күн бұрын
@@poekinoeni that’s so encouraging to hear about the Dartmoor. I keep wavering on it thinking I should just use the yarn for another pattern instead. I just know it would be a sweater I’d cherish and wear often like you are saying.

@@coffeeknitswithsarah As much as I love my Dartmoor for me, it was an exciting choice and happy knit at that time. I'm sure there are plenty other new and exciting patterns around that you will cherish and wear often and if you can find one that is exciting for you now and you absolutely can't wait to cast on - that's the best plan! Our knitting time is precious so make sure you are knitting what brings you the most joy and happiness ever! If you're wavering - I would say - don't feel guilty to go and find another exciting pattern to knit with your special birthday treat yarn!

Regarding colorwork knitting, I tend to be on the loose side doing colorwork but a lot of patterns suggest going up a needle size on just the colorwork section to allow for more ease. I rarely swatch but I really don’t think a standard swatch would knit up the same way as a full colorwork section of a sweater. It helps to just stretch you work on the needle so the carrying strand stays loose on the wrong side.

I've knit with Lettlopi and it does wonderful for colorwork because it grabs onto the colors so well. But living in Texas, I don't have much opportunity to wear it. If you get some lettlopi colors to go WITH your blue and do colorwork, I think you will love the result, now that you are in Michigan.

Hmm, I've never considered using that yarn for colorwork, I should look into it!

What about double knit felted slippers out of the more rustic wool yarn? Or consider a cardigan…. Or even do a swatch and wash it and wear it under your shoulder strap and see what you think…
