Great commentary! The Hawks really do embody the phrase "team play". Olsen, Feuerbach and Mallegni shine for sure, but the whole team looks like a cohesive unit. I think they really have a deep bench, too. It's almost like they don't have to designate a starting 5, because they have 9-10 starters. It's such a pleasure to watch this team play.

Lots of talent on this team. Can’t wait till they start their Big 10 schedule. Olsen and Feuerbach have looked good, and McCabe is a good role player. It’ll be big when Affolter gets back to full strength, love her game. Stuelke is going to be a star before she leaves Iowa and O’Grady should be a double double machine. If the freshmen can give them some depth, they’ll have a good year.

They looked pretty good. More shooters than last season it seemed (obviously not the big gun), Olsen showed promise and great freshmen. And Affolter didn't even play yet. Like you mentioned, the amount of open shots allowed is worrying.

Glad to see McCabe getting some good minutes. She's a phenomenal shooter, just needs to engage more on the defensive end, similar to Clark as far as the offense fefense thing goes.

Caitlin sucked a lot of air out of the room when she was there; many others now want to get their own breath of that air, so it there is a lot of players with something to probe this year. Iowa sports are at their best when players play with a chip a chip on their shoulder. Feuerbach looked great in both the season opener and the preseason game. I think she wants to have a little shine of her own. With two 6'4" post players, Stuelke is now at power forward and that is a more natural fit for her. Her grace, speed, and power can spotlight in the four spot. Olsen is of course a key piece. She is replacing a lot of points and assist, so she will be key to this team.

Feuerbach played a great game on both ends of the court. The team’s perimeter defense definitely needs to get much better. I think getting Syd back will help with that. The only rookie who didn’t have a good game was Ava. She needs more work. Go Hawks!
