I was heading to make that comment. Fob designed bad intentionally to force the monthly app payment just to use your auto start, and then the truck still shits off when entering it.

Love my 23 Silverado RST Z71 with the 3.0 duramax. 8L/100 doing 110 and better on 80km/hr roads. 11L in the city and around town. Smoothest powertrain on the market imo. Tons of giddy up and go

Completely agree about the remote start. I only ever use the app now after trying the fob about 2 times lol. Hopefully your bed mat arrives soon! I saw somebody posted on Facebook about a volume knob replacement for their SR5 the other day

As a Tundra owner I agree with you on most of those issues! I haven't had a wind noise issue on my SR yet, I am now at about 6K in, the rear bed is terrible and as you I have been waiting for my mat since November (dealer says I should be getting it this month) I did a long winter drive from southern Alberta (near Montana to Edmonton) and recorded my fuel milage, it was good for what conditions I was driving in, but you're right the efficiency is not the best, I only had the collision avoidance light come on once so far!

Been watching your Tundras videos , excellent , finally have a 24' Tundra Limited w TRD pkg. that is very identical to your wife's Tundra that is coming in a few weeks. In one of your videos you were installing running boards & I think you ended up putting them on your wife's truck. But I was wanted to know which ones you got & if they were Toyota ones . Also need a manual bed step . If you could tell me which running boards you got for one or both of your Tundras , send me the info specs on them. Also which video shows the running boards . Keep up the great videos.

I agree with you on all these issues, literally what I complain to myself about daily Remote start shutting off when you open doors is annoying as fuuck, 24 Tacoma doesn’t do it. I went with rough country bed mat, same as my Toyota mat that’s in my 2022 Tacoma. Likely same supplier. Volume knob is ridiculous, use steering wheel volume control. Tires suck. Working in forestry, seeing fords and chevys having issues when under a year old makes me put up with these Toyota quirks to have a trouble free truck. DFM the gm’s grenade the engine around 170-200k, which for some is around 2 years old

I am a fan of the old Tundra and had hopes for the new ones but so far not impressed by any of the reviews that other channels have done. An F150 Eco boost or even a 5.0 litre would be a better option for a work truck in my opinion.

I use a horse stall mat in the bed of my truck. $50 for a 4x6 at tractor supply. It’s much thicker and cheaper than a bed mat. Only downside is it does go around the wheel wells
@alexmseu2 ай бұрын
I pretty much have this same truck (2024), and I haven't had an issue with the turbo lag or getting up and going. However, I do have the wind noise issue. In fact, I've had the cheap window seal on the driver's side replaced 3 times now. Another thing contributing to the wind noise is that any truck below a Limited has additional door seals missing that help mitigate wind noise. Although I don't use my truck for work, I do use it to tow a 3500 lb trailer monthly, camping, loading bikes, and hauling my kids around. If I didn't tow, I'd probably consider trading for a 5th gen 4runner. It lacks the power and refinement the Tundra has, but I know it'll last and be reliable. The fit and finish on these Tundras has me doubting the durability/reliability. I hope I'm wrong. Y'all missng your 4runner at all?

I agree with the volume knob. I actually hate that the screen is completely touch screen without any physical buttons. I did not notice any wind noise until I added in channel rain deflectors. I was coming from a 17' Tacoma though, and the wind noise on that thing was TERRIBLE. When I drove the Tundra the first thing I said as how quiet it was. My biggest complaint is with how loud the bed is when you hit a bump. I always think something is loose, but it's the composite bed just flexing.
@totwallybaba2 ай бұрын
I hate the vibration noise at 1600 rpm in my 2024 SR5 Crewmax 4X4 TRD Offroad. I hate the flimsy plastic. Most of all....i hate the screen infotainment system. Give me a radio and a way to plug in my smartphone. Thats all. No telling how much more it cost to outfit them with touch screens. I do like the towing features like electric brake control system for trailer brakes. The torque at low rpm is outstanding. Gaining speed going up a steep hill at 1800 rpm is impressive. I towed a loaded dump trailer with 8000 pounds total weight. I honestly think it handles that dump trailer better than my 2008 Limited Crewmax did.

I think everything newer looks fancier, but it's actually cheaper made, while costing a fortune. My '10 Tundra serves me just fine, being retired, but I realize when you buy a work truck, you look for one that offers minimum issues, and solid service. Toyota should pay attention to good reviews like this, and work on addressing the issues. Stay warm Tyson.

Legit question. Why do you need to start it remotely at all? Is it because of the cold there or something? I’ve never personally needed to start a car before I get in it to drive, so I’m not getting it. PS I do live in hot Australia
@ryan_torres2 ай бұрын
Where on earth do you live that it's perfectly comfortable all year? I might want to live there lol! He's in Canada. Any place where you actually have a cold winter you like to have the frost covering windows thawed out so you can see out. Also, it's nice to not have to freeze for the first 10-15 minutes of your ride. Also, anywhere where you have triple digit highs in the summer, it's literally like sitting in an oven until the A/C can cool down the cabin. That's where remote start is awesome to hav in the summer.

So your biggest gripe is that when you use the key fob to remote start the Tundra, it shuts off when you open the door and you'd have to get in and hit the start button to drive. When you use the remote start with the app it stays on, but you STILL have to hit the start button before you can drive, so not sure why this would bother you so much. I'd be WAY more unhappy with the radar being affected by the slightest bit of snow, and continually clearing it just to have it happen again. I don't understand why Toyota makes it so that you can only lock the rear diff in 4 Lo; THAT is a big mistake on Toyota's part and should definitely have been addressed by the engineers at Toyota! Sounds to me like you'll be trading it in soon for a new F150!

#1. It stops because it was a safety issue #2. Get a tool box. Train your dogs to sit in the seats like us humans. (Jk) #3. My Tundra has spray in liner from factory. But every truck I've owned has a slick bed. Go to your local tractor supply and get the stable mats. They're thick and cheap. And again, get a tool box. #4. SR5 AND SR have small screens. Limited and above have big screens with big knobs. #5. But how heavy is the F150 compared to the Tundra? #6. My Tundra acts like it has a built in pedal commander. Weird that yours does that. I have to tip toe the gas pedal from a stop or I'm zooming. #7 we don't have snow in South Ga so.....can't help ya there my guy.

I plan on doing a rear seat delete and building a flip-up cover for the storage area for my 100 lb Pittie/Mastiff; he's the only family I live with and goes with me pretty much everywhere! My 4 DR '22 Bronco is perfect for him (the rear seats have been folded down since I got it and nobody has ever sat in them), but I do miss the utility of a truck, and it's either the Tundra or Taco for me!

The issue when you almost stopped and then went and showed the rpm’s up is annoying to me and what the transmission is doing is taking off in 3rd gear. If you don’t come to a complete stop it doesn’t downshift to 1st gear. Manually force it to 1st and it’s much better. Also tow/haul mode will make it better. I hope there’s a flash to fix this as it drives me nuts as who comes to a complete stop before you go again? Not me

They should copy from the Honda Ridgeline. Leg supports are integrated with the seat. Lift the seat and the supports come up with it and fold flat into bottom of the seat leaving a flat floor. I have a 2021 Tundra and been holding off for the first revision of the new body style hoping they address some of these issues. I'm largely disappointed with the new Tundra even though I like a lot about it. Too much plastic to include front and rear bumpers and more. Won't buy another brand as I think they all have quality / reliability issues. I'll just hang onto my 21 until Toyota improves the Tundra.
