More than just semantics, there's a difference between a grill guard and a brush guard. The grill guard offers protection from front end collision damage when a loader is not present, whereas the brush guard protects from intrusion damage, as with grapple use. Why tractor manufacturers haven't gotten the message that we need a real tool box on these machines is beyond me.

Hi there Brock. One of the things that make the T574 simplistic is the auto throttle is not a fly by wire system and has a physical connection that utilizes motion instead of switches. The only way to stop the auto throttle function is to disconnect the lever connector. The hand throttle uses a cable separately.

Probably could add one quite easily, a regular off the shelf oil temp gauge, and there's probably a location you could tap into on the hydraulic system to put the sensor. Probably less than a $50 modification, course you'd want to actually own the tractor first before doing any modifications, but aside from that it wouldn't be hard to do.

I have a tym 474. Im in Michigan. My priorities when buying it was being able to lift my 1500 pound round bales, having hydrostat so my wife would drive it, and having a heated cab for the winter. I had an open station massey before that I loved, but TYM was $18000 less money for a cab tractor than massey, john deere, or anyone els. If I trade tractors again, I will get 24 inch rear rims. THere is much larger selection of tires available in 24 inch rims for more liquid ballast capacity. THis tym is a little clunky. THe rear remote levers, like he said, are very short, and awkward to operate. My range selector doesnt move smoothly. The 3 point lever inside the cab is short and too close to the seat. Like I said, the tractor is a little clunky, but for the money, it does everything I want it to do. Im happy with it overall.

All the shortcomings many people mention with these tractors are the results of cost cutting....you saved $18,000 but did you really? No, you have several items that due to saving you money you have to awkwardly operate instead....so, maybe rather than everyone looking at the price of these tractors maybe actually see how the thing feels, all the controls work, pedal locations, lever locations, how smooth things work, etc. stop looking at the price tag, start looking at the features you may or may not be getting, and how clunky and awkward the machine is during operation....I'd rather pay more and get a machine that isn't so awkward to operate, and operates smoothly, and the controls operate smooth as well. Brock mentioned the loader is slow at idle, I think that's the case with every loader as the hydraulic pump isn't running at peak RPM to give you the loader speed you want or think you need....that's the problem with that auto throttle crap, sounds cool on paper but in reality its not worth it, set the throttle at the proper operating RPM for what you are doing and leave it alone you really aren't saving any fuel or time in the long run.

I think you're spot on with some of these gripes. You did hit the nail on the head, though. TYM's have more simplicity reflected in the cost. It's all a trade-off. Great video Brock

My thoughts only, I've had a lot of experience with tractors. The advantage of a manual transmission over hydrostatic is that you set your RPM and control ground speed by selecting the appropriate gear. As for auto throttle its not for me. I dare say a lot of people would disagree.

You are so correct about the skid steer attachment system. The JD hook & pin is by far the best for tractors. I am blind in 1 eye, ended up painting alifnment marks, that i can see with the camera mounted on the brush guard. As a last resort, sometimes i end up standing beside the Passenger side of the tractor, so i can work the pedals & joystick to hook up. It is unbelievable how important depth perception is to perform these simple tasks...

Yes i think everyone thinks if you have all the money in the world, JD is awesome. They have the control to create a better quick attach, better belly mower attach system, and im sure there are some other things they have a patent on. Other than the belly mower though i dont think their patents justify the price premium. For me there is a price/convenience line and JD is way over the line.

Brock, I don’t think it’s fair to compare the JD backhoe you have to the TYM backhoe. They’re completely different. One is a subframe and one is a 3 point hitch. The subframe has significant more power than a three point (one not on steroids, like yours). I’ve had both and will go subframe all day. While storage and installation is more difficult, I’d take the power every day. Thanks for the content!

I'd definitely do some tint on that tractor. Not only does it look cool but it serves a big function too. And as far as the lights you could do led lights on the top front and back. A big curved led light bar on the front and back is awesome at night time when you get caught in the dark

I think there's three issues you missed. 1) The gear range is not ideal. In medium range, you have to really ramp up the RPMs to get any ground speed. High range lacks torque (as expected). I find the H/M/L range on the Kubota L4701 to be really good. I can leave that in medium nearly full time. On the 574, it's constantly switching between H and M. 2) There's no coast down when you take your foot off the throttle. It comes to a very sudden stop, almost as if you stood on the brakes. The Kubota transmissions have a little bit of coast down so you roll to a stop in a very short distance. 3) The TYM creeps at idle. If you don't want it to move, you've got to put the brake on or put in neutral. The Kubota transmissions don't do this. That being said, I don't have any regrets about the buying the 574, but it is a definite difference I notice. As far as the speed of the PTO and the auto-throttle and such, I don't have any experience with that. But it seems to me the hay equipment should expect 540 RPM and re-gear it as necessary onboard. There shouldn't be a correlation between tractor ground speed and PTO RPM.

I agree with the quick attach system, it's very hard to judge ( because you can't see ) where the attachment aligns with the implement. I would be happy if the peddles where switched with fwd being on the outside, it was hard to get used to it being where it is.

I just bought the same tractor. JMHO, run the engine RPM up for the hydraulic pump performance to function for all loader work. Agree, don't like the non-brush grille, but I have trees and not hay fields, using a grapple primarily. Like the lift capacity being 2800 lbs'ish. I got a cloth TYM bag with my purchase and holds any tool, and bag sets behind seat. Not convenient but one isn't grabbing a tool every time you get in or out of tractor. Wish the SS lever were automated from inside the cab. That would be worth the money. Enjoy your day!

JD just caved to some extent. They are taking our SOME of the DEI policies. A good start, but we need more details. They are still firing Americans and moving production to Mexico. I have been disappointed with JD for a few years on quality issues. I am seriously considering TYM.

The linked pedal is because of the mechanical fuel pump. If you look on your fuel pump both hand throttle and foot pedal are connected to the same linkage arm. One of the down sides about have an all mechanical engine vs engine with ecm. If you don’t like the linked pedal take the throttle cable for that out. My tym 4820 is the same way I just leave it at half throttle doing loader work.

I run a tym 394. I mow, blow snow, run a loader and do loader things and it’s great for me, the only thing is the, range selector is sticky when it’s cold out, so you have to move the tractor around to get it into gear which can be difficult or near impossible to get it out of small spaces when parked.

I can see that happening on a lot of tractors where you can't see anything with the loader below hood level. But I like the SSQA a lot better than being stuck with a proprietary system like JD has. SSQA gives you a huge range of attachment options, where JD you are limited to what they sell, and what other companies are willing to build to fit the JD system.

The deere quick attach is closer to the global style quick attach that's on bigger equipment... as you said it's easier to attach especially if you drop a bucket on un level terrain.

One solution to linked peddle is what I did , loosen the adjustment on the fuel pump so the auto throttle doesn’t come on as soon, tweek it how u like it

Except it isn't his tractor, so he's kind of stuck with what he has....one major downfall of getting stuff on loan for free, you probably can't be tweaking anything on the machines.

I too have a 574, much prefer the mechanical injection but didn't like auto throttle so I disabled it at the pump, fairly easy task. My biggest gripe, and you did not address it, is the proxemity of the loader joystick to my leg. Seems that every time I twist around to check on what is occurring with my rear mount impliment, I inadvertently bump the loader joystick and dump the bucket or drop the loader into the ground. Friends who I have permitted to operate the tractor have made the same observation. But I still love the tractor.

Kioti CK/DK also has the rear remote levers way down low beside the seat rather than up on the fender. Very inconvenient.

Man, I don't know about the inability to turn off the auto-throttle. Maybe I don't fully understand it, but to me, the HUGE advantage to an HST tractor is the ability to have infinite forward speeds while keeping the PTO where you want it

It'd be great if the hydraulic load on the pump sensed and controlled engine/pump speed. The further you push the loader level in a direction, the faster you want the loader to work...the engine would autothrottle to that input. First World problem really.

Re the quick attach. It's my understanding that early on, there were a few different designs, one developed by Bobcat. Despite the known flaws & shortcomings in that design, Bobcat (market leader at that time?) steadfastly maintained theirs was the best, refused to even try anyone else's, and pretty much forced the industry to except it.

Someone said in the comments about being $18,000 less than Deere and Kubota (I think.) , that is huge savings. I could live with these minor complaints for 18 grand but I understand there are those that can peel off the green backs for any Tractor out there. I would save the bucks but everyone gets to choose. There are a plethora of makes, models and Brands on the Market. Get what you want.

Brock, the T574 "auto throttle " kinda doesn't exist.... It can't be shutoff because it's all mechanical linkage. There are cables from your hydro pedals that move the throttle in the engine, all mechanically controlled, there can't be a switch to shut it off. You might be able to physically unhook that cable from the throttle. Thanks fir the honest input. I also have a T574. I can overlook these flaws considering it's about 1/2 the price of Deer/Kubota (and had more lift)

A regular oil temp gauge/sensor kit off the auto parts shelf will work just fine, and less than $50 to do....sun visor, same thing, or a junk yard and get one out of a car, or even better if you can find an old bus and get the nice big wide one....except in Brock's case that isn't his tractor so modifying it probably ain't a good idea.

I have a TYM 474T with the hydrostat. When I run my hand throttle up to 2000 RPM where I am usually running it when I am mowing or using the grapple all I have to do is ease into the pedal and control the speed so I'm not really sure what you are talking about. I am almost always in the low range speed setting. When I m doing loader work I don't use the hand throttle unless I am lifting very heavy loads. I am 6'2 and the pedal positions seem as though they are custom fit for me. Maybe TYM could put adjustable pedals in but that would mean more expense. The one thing that really bugs me more than anything else is that I wish they would have a warning beep when you leave the parking brake on. I have done that countless times. It would be a quick fix. They could do the same with the fluid temp. It wouldn't cost more than $10 bucks for them to add these. Mine is open station so a lot of your gripes are not applicable for mine.

Just bought a T394 and got on it the first time this past weekend....I did the same thing with the parking brake a couple times. I don't understand why the light doesn't come on...?

@@weeweed86 there is no light, at least on mine. Even if mine had one I probably wouldn’t see it. I can’t read any of the gauges unless I take my sunglasses off. That’s why I would rather have an audible warning .

Live in Maryland. Contacted 2 dealers(1 in Md and 1 in PA) through the TYM site to get pricing on a T574. After over a month, still no response. I contacted TYM corporate through their site to let them know of the issue and after a week, I got no response from them either. Seems mind boggling to me. Don’t seem to want to sell their tractors.

if that was the case I'd go to a junkyard and I start searching out visors and find one that was adjustable and off and just mounted in there or grab some window tint and just put some on the front and the side wherever you need it

I still own a John Deere tractor. I have had problems with it and they are way overpriced. Before getting this Tractor, I did a series of videos comparing every single brand of comparable Tractor in all categories from capacity to price. TYM is the best option in my mind

Big drawback there on the auto throttle. Some other machines have a throttle up button on the loader stick for speeding the loader actions. That wouldn’t help with the haying issue though! I don’t get why any tractor has a PTO shield that isn’t hinged or removable for connecting attachments. That just doesn’t make sense.

I got someone at my previous job with that. The oven was messed up, and I told them I figured out what the problem was, that someone calibrated it using metric minutes instead of SAE minutes....they actually called the maintenance tech and told him that....Needless to say I got a phone call from the maintenance tech a few minutes later as he was trying to not laugh, but laughing as he asked me if I had anything to do with that phone call LOL.

I wouldn't buy a Deer for parts issues I've got deer stuff that if the parts are available the handbrake was $560 and also they blacklist all of their sizes so you can't go somewhere and just buy a 52 inch belt because they have them blacklisted we're getting them in from out of the country now from other places in the world but they don't give you the sizes my neighbor has a tractor that keeps snapping front spindles they called it a Price fighter of all things but it's a lot of money for one of those spindles he know has one sitting on the shelf so he doesn't have to wait the next time it breaks

I would also think a gear drive tractor for doing hay work would be a better option anyhow, since a lot of time you are going at a consistent speed anyhow. Kind of like mowing, you pretty much go the same speed...pick a gear and go. I don't mind the hydrostatic transaxle in my tractor but I have a sub-compact tractor, so I'm always doing different tasks, so the hydrostatic isn't much of an issue, and it does have cruise control so you can kind of pick a speed on it and set it. I do wish it had a 3 range transmission though, sometimes something between low and high would be helpful.

Im sure glad you said those were ticky tacky items you pointed out on the outside of the tractor because that was exactly what I was going to write Brock. I hear you on the rear remotes but the trade off is you are in an air conditioned cab listening to tunes and the cab has made it a little awkward to reach. I can just hear a farmer from 70 years ago that fought in WW2 laughing at you now as you are sitting in your TYM that looks nothing like, functions nothing like and has no creature comforts from the tractor he had in the 1950s. With that said, we, the viewers want to hear all of these issues you have told about. No tractor is perfect but it is pretty evident you have a good one here in the TYM. I'd must rather hear you tell it like it is than a dealership's salesman saying nothing other than this is a good tractor and you need to buy it..

you can sit in an air condition heated cab would be out of the blizzard and get your cattle fed it's much more pleasant than sitting on the seat of your tractor getting blistered or heaven forbid running a snowblower and getting blasted I'll take Cab any day even if it is hard for me to get in and out of it sometimes

Exactly. So many people are trying to push these cheaper tractors....great, but 100% of them are forgetting the fact they paid less, so they got a lower quality, lesser refined machine because of all that money they saved....then they complain about all that stuff....well you wanted to be cheap and saved money over buying a better brand machine, you got what you paid for is exactly what they got.

You obviously have not spent enough time on any of the older all manual tractors without a cab.......you work to operate them...now with all the anemities you complain about the smallstuff.......go BUY the perfect tractor....it does not exist as all tractors have their little quirks, and if there was that perfect tractor YOU could not afford it !!!
