I moved here nine months ago ( after living in Virginia for over 20 years) after purchasing a condo and I tried teaching at TPS which confirmed my view that public education is awful -- I believe in school choice. There are ways to stay healthy here many good farmers etc that I have found. Most of what you said does not bother me. One thing I would add to your list, and why I probably won't stay here more than two years total, is people are too "polite." This may seem like an odd thing to say, but it is polite, but not welcoming. I don't find the politeness genuine at all and it has been difficult to make connection. In fact if It were not for remote work I would be unemployed in Tulsa as no one will open doors for you -- expect to be polite. It is sad because I had planned this move here for a very long time. The cost of living is great and the life is easy. The weather is the least of what I don't like here.

@madisonwilliams9346 yes people here are polite -- they open doors but not the important ones like jobs and real friendship. I don't care about phony polite!!!

As someone from Los Angeles, where most of the time people don’t say, excuse me when they brush up against you or open doors… I totally understand what you are saying. At least here, there is a genuine want to help others because it’s a struggle. Where, as people can be polite, but have really Negative kitchen table talk. Keeping outsiders outside., A segregated mindset.
