5 Things I HATE about my Fiesta MK6 ST!

HAPPY NEW YEAR lads and lasses, am back, its 2019, I missed last weeks upload as I was actually dying of man flu. No Seriously. Don't call me out on it. Man Flu. Is. Real.
Anyway, here we are, hop youre all well, and welcome back to the channel. Today we're gonna be talking about 5 things I dont really like ( + a few extra mentions ) about my Fiesta MK6 ST!

sometimes it works, if you pump the clutch 2 times. but mine does it to, if its not everytime or super much. its not a problem, just annoying asf

I heard this is normal and that it actually says in the owners manual to put it into reverse around 3 seconds after putting the clutch down

R23 OWL very few cars have non synchromesh reverse gears, what I find with these cars is that putting it into neutral, releasing clutch and then putting it into reverse stops it crunching every time, it allows the gears to properly mesh :) this is the case with me anyway

I'm ST 'ing my zetec 1.25....Which grill did the bolted ST badge appear when you bought the car ? How many ST Decals have you got on the car ?...I'm thinking of spray paint the air box Red or body colour tonic blue ..What do you think..

When you said about being seated too far up, I thought that you were gonna talk about the wing mirror position. For me personally, I am so high up that I have to really turn my head to look in the mirrors, to the point where I feel that it's actually dangerous to constantly check the mirrors. I am a short guy, so I can't imagine what it's like for taller people. On other cars that I've driven, all I need to do is either move my eyes to the side, or slightly tilt my head. On this car, I have to properly turn my head which makes my view of the road restricted. I hate checking the side mirrors because it takes my eyes off of the road, even if it's for a second or two. Thought that lowering the seat would make this better, but as you say only the back end is lowered.

Think the media reviews said the turning circle was because of the 17's but it also has a higher speed steering rack. That stereo is an aftermarket one isn't it, standard is a green sony 6 stacker on xr4. Glad xr4's never came power mirrors and rain sensors. My intermittent wiper settings work fine, wiper itself is crap though. Trick for reverse is, if you have the clutch in and you feel it's not gone all the way into fifth, just keep some pressure on the shifter towards fifth and let the clutch pedal out a bit, it will pop into fifth. Never have to worry about grinding again.Not sure whats up with your bumper. My top 5 things I hate about MY xr4 would be, Weak gearbox (even though I have an LSD in it, it's still a worry), no 6th gear. The traction control having to turn it off each time you drive. The fans always blow hot air because of the milltek headers and the AC is weak and intrusive.

Makes sense about the turning circle. Stereo wise, I since found out that mine is a standard one, but an optional extra from new 😊 Yeah the wipers are just frustrating, but the mirrors are a huge help, saves reaching out the passengers window to open and close, it's just the fact it clicks what I hate haha. There's not many in the UK which have the TCS button, I don't know if that means we just can't turn it off, or if we don't have it at all haha. I currently also have a problem with my heaters as the motor is starting to make noises haha, it still works but is frustrating to listen to when at a standstill at a set of lights, can't really hear it while driving!

Third and then reverse my ST never grinds. Broke my window regulator, bought and aftermarket one and it didn't work. Worst thing about my ST. Had it 7 years now it's a tank.

My mirror clicks the same amount of times yours did in this video man 😂 it is a common problem. They’re not “broke” per say if you can adjust them still. Your wipers though, that’s odd! My auto wipers work just fine! The 3rd to reverse thing... I Might of mentioned that one to you on the IG 😅 cool vid man. The good outweigh the bad with these cars.

Do you know how to go about adjusting the mirror? 😮 Wipers yeah so annoying haha I tend to just turn em on manually these days because of it. And yeah man I think you did actually 😂 I remember talking about it recently to one of my mates so that's what reminded me to bring it up in this video haha. But yeah I agree, these things in no way whatsoever out me off the car, they are all just small things and there are hundreds more good things I love about the car that, 5 bad things means nothing haha

Small turning circle is because the car wasn’t designed to fit a 2.0 engine, my Zetec S has a much better turning circle

The wiper speed setting thing is for the first speed on the arm, not the auto mode. If you move the arm one click and then set it to lowest you'll see it comes on less frequently, just for when the rain is really light and all

Thanks mate, yeah me too, they're definitely coming mate 100%. It's frustrating as I work 8-5 Monday to Friday so it's pitch black when I get home so can't do anything in the week, and it comes down to hoping Saturday and Sunday are gonna be dry enough to get out and working on the car. My own fault really for starting a channel in the winter haha. Apologies for the filler videos!

I can vouch for the reverse grinding every bloody time no matter how slow or fast you shift to reverse I thought it was just me but now ik now it's a fiesta fuck up and yes the steering turn is the greatest

Had the fiesta and the seats are absolutely pants. I'm 6ft4 and need to lower the seats and when i found it just tilts the bottom part of the seat i was disappointed and on long journeys it starts to hurt my lets as the tip of the front of the seat just starts cutting off circulation. Anyway those automatic windscreen wipers only work when they sense rain. The speed dial only works when you take it up an notch again to manual and affects the speed where they are constantly on. Stupid i know but at least you have automatic wipers. The mk7 Fiesta ST2 doesn't have automatic wipers for some fekin unbeknown reason. Or auto lights which my mk6 did and i miss those features. But i think they are addons but the ST3 does sooo. Also replaced that stock radio because aux only had music playing through right speaker only and sounded poo. Got a pioneer unit that make the car sound amazing and had DAB aswell and USB plus Aux worked properly.

My 5 are similar: Huge turning circle. Weak gearbox. Lack of power (unless you have an MR200) Seating position. (I have full leather heated seats which I love) Fairly poor fuel economy. (obviously)

Got to agree with all those mate, especially the fuel economy, but it's to be expected I guess with it being a 2.0 haha, but yeah the power doesn't do it justice really, still a fun car though and I love it to bit!

I to have Fiesta mark 6 from 2009 with 1.4 duratec engine. Its an amazing little car but the reverse gear really annoys me. Mine also grinds a bit even when on a full stop and the worst thing is that it is not a bug but a feature hahahaha :D

Reverse gear is the same on all models. I cycle all the gears before even thinking of going for reverse if i haven't already been driving before needing reverse, it prevents the grinding. The wipers is an issue with your car, mine works normally. The stereo is also an issue with your model, the lower models have a different stereo, and its green. Ugly colour for the dials regardless of it matching or not.

I found out which wires are to auto fold my mirrors and cut them, everything else works except the folding. So much better, personally anyway.

Hate to say it mate but far more than it's worth. If it's just the looks you like, try a Zetec S or a normal 1.2/1.4 and fit the ST body kit to itm

@Cameron XP yeah only pay £30 a year road tax and get about 250 miles on around 3/4 tank. Don't forget the tuning potential at these engines 👌

Guys, the mirror click IS FIXABLE!!! Maybe won't work 1st time but keep trying. The below method is copied from net, it doesn't work to the letter but mess about with the method keeping in mind the motor needs to 'catch up' - Take off the mirror control panel and disconnect the loom. Set the mirror all the way forward to the front on the car. Lock the car then plug the loom back in the mirror should then fold all the way in disconnect the loom and unlock the car then fold the mirror all the way forward again. Lock the car and reconnect the loom this time the mirror will only come to the normal open position. Disconnect the loom again. Unlock the car. Fold the mirror in to the closed position. Reconnect the loom. Lock the car The motor will then catch up with the mirror position and should be back to normal when you unlock the car and then lock it again no clicking on close you may need to play around with the sequence a bit to get yours right the first time.

Ive got a 2006 fiesta ghia and my bloody driver side wingmirror also stutters, and the seats are exactly the same. Makes it even worse me being 6ft5 lol, i also have the mk4 fiesta zetec and the seating position are 100x better, i was thinking about swapping but the full leather in the ghia, like you say you get used to it, also my wipers are also dogshit lol.

It was a lot of trial and error bro lol. I don’t claim to have any mechanical knowledge, but moving the mirror into different positions and then locking the car should see the clicks reduce and eventually go. I started with the mirror all the way bent round facing forwards (if that makes sense) and then locked it and just kept doing that until I noticed some change. It was 100% luck really but be persistent with it and it will eventually stop

R23 OWL you know what though, the clicking is so irritating it’s worth the risk. I think there is a plastic cog inside and has a gap or two in it. By doing that method I think what it does is rotate the cog so the mirrors position changes and doesn’t get affected by the gap in the cog. I did it a couple of months ago and still works fine to this day

Yeah not a big fan on how you sit. I remember driving past a zetec s and seeing the owner sitting right in the middle of the door and half his body can be seen over the door card. Makes me think I look a bit of a tool when driving mine 🙈. Don't like being that exposed

turbo just gives lagg! never heard of the boot button problem before, you just need to stop the car first.. and i dont even think, the car burns insane gas. if you drive the car, slow and safe i get fine economy. but yes if you put the foot down, it suck the moey out of your wallet

I have that Sony as std. The front bumper on mine is same. Very common as the bumper gets caught and it knackers the clips under the grill.

@@R23OWL I'm going to wait til it's warmer. I think the proper way to do it would be to completely remove bumper. Turn the mounting points on the wings up to close that gap. Then fire a screw or 2 through them clips under grill.

I don't know if it's different in the UK...... But, my st in Australia has the stock ford radio. The 6006 CDC. That has all the green L.E.D

Yeah I have that in my 06 fiesta in the uk. It’s a face lift model but not got heated seats or auto wipers. And the number on the wiper switch are seconds on mine when your on the slow setting of the wiper you can make it go ever 1 second or 5.

they made the seat so high, because its a sports car. and you need, a clean view of where you are going;-) i have an st150 my self, and im jealoux of you from uk! because in uk, the st150 had more options. in dk we could not get, the electric moving mirrors/speed control and some other nice things. even auto wippers, or more than 3 settings for the wippers hehe.. mine work perfect, but the settings is always to fast or slow sadly.

Every other sports car I've ever sat in the seating position is a lot lot lower. I don't think that's why it's high in the fiesta at all man. Cool to hear you have an ST too, what country are you from?

I read Ford would have to crash test the car again with a lowered seating position and because the ST is a low volume seller compared to cooking models the cost-to-benefit of doing this was not deemed satisfied by Ford's accountants.

The reverse crunches because there is no syncromesh fitted to the mk6 fiesta st. Unavoidable unfortunately

@@R23OWL not officially but it's purely down to cost. The IB5 gearbox which is fitted to the ST is an old gearbox dating back to the mid 1990s was fitted to various models at that time and numerous models ever since until the release of the IB6 which is in the ST180s. Syncro kit from Quaife is available for just over £2000 !!!

R23_OWL if the seat release ever breaks just buy the new handle no cables. Really easy to refit. Just line the handle up and punch into place. 10 secs to fix. Check some other u tube vids.😁 Agreed they are liable to break over time.🤔

The cupholder is in a terrible position. Sometimes if there's a drink in there it obstructs me putting it in to first gear. Also only one cupholder is annoying when you're doing the KFC run. Minor issues I know but frustrating none the less

I don't think that is the standard stereo. I have only had and seen green standard stereos in fiesta Mk6 st150's.
