My wife and I drive just for the sake of driving still, its great. I had a red 95 del sol with a b16a1 dohc with a short throw shifter and upgraded exhaust. Unfortunately it was stolen 6 years ago and it was completely stripped and left on the side of the highway. I've missed that car so much ever since and haven't been able to get back into one yet.

Oh man that's terrible. What kind of person steals another person's car? It's not right. So sorry you had to go through that, not to mention you had a true VTEC which isn't as easy to come by. But I'm glad there are people still like me and my friends who drive just for the sake of driving. I find it almost therapeutic. But I hope you're able to get into another sol soon. They're the best cruisers

This was my first car with the vtech d series. My next door neighbor had the b series in his and I was very envious. The main issue I found with mine especially after modding it is body flex. It got so bad that when I parked a little off camber on my driveway you can’t take the roof off or put it on if it’s already off. But I ended up ruining the car with engine swap and turbo. Better to keep these stock.

I am a orginal owner of a 1997 Del Sol Si. It is Cypress green Pearl and has 215,000 miles. My suspension is original. The new Honda are grap compared to the 1990’s Honda. Most of Present Hondas will last long. The turbos and direct injection engines has had many problems. I watched a tear down on a Honda that was 2 years old. Honda has cheapened by plastic in the engine. The valve cover is plastic. The connectors are plastic. Both BMW and Mercedes have gone plastic and when the plastic gets old it gets brittle and breaks. about fives the heat of the engine cooks the plastic. The Del Sol Si and twin have double wishbone suspension. The after 2000 model year has McPherson struts. So much for a Suspension lasting 25 to 30 years. Our car has front and rear Sway bars. For years my Late Mother and I would travel from Florida to New Jersey . The car is a two person car With Luggage space. You would never make that trip in a first generation. Miata. That car has no luggage space and it road really rough. I am planning on putting Recaro seats in the car. I am keeping it and will do what I want to improve it. I am considering going up to 15 tires. I have read 15 is the best size. Good luck with your car

As a 6'4 ex rugby player, I've been trying to find cheap jdm cars with real leg room so to hear you say that, Brought a tear to my eye 😂 can't wait to get one

I am 6´4 and drive a del sol 94, the leg room is plenty enough, but I lowered the seat because my head was touching the targa roof. Now it is fine and I love driving it. I have the engine with a single ohc with V-tech and 125 horse power. It is really a great and fun car to drive. Take care.
@scooch9883 жыл бұрын
@@davecopp9356 thats awesome to hear! Also good you were able to lower the seat. I pulled the carpet in mine recently and was adjusting the seats when I put them back in and I'm laughing to myself how far back I can sit from the wheel. I would have never imagined I could be 6'1 and this comfortable in such a tiny car haha. You got yourself a good one though with a good engine. She'll run forever
@davecopp93563 жыл бұрын
@@scooch988 Thanks, I also hope that it lasts a long time, the problem with mine is rust. About the seat, I took the whole seat out, took the cushion out and lowered only the plate under the cushion, so that I sit almost a inch lower than before. Now I can drive long distances without getting unconfortable or getting back pain. I have the del sol for six years now and only ones had a problem with the distributor which I replaced. That was all. Really great releable cars. But be carefull, in the USA they get stolen a lot. Take care and all the best.
@scooch9883 жыл бұрын
@@davecopp9356 I'm sure it will. If you've had it 6 years you've definitely been taking good care of it. And that's a cool idea with the seat. I wouldn't have thought of that. Rust is the devil on these old hondas. I ordered rear quarters and rockers for mine on ebay. Theres a few guys that custom make them. So if you're looking for those parts check eBay and you should be able to find some. They sell out quick but there's always more. Nice chatting with you too!

Great videos. I have an 01 Prelude and a 15 Fiesta ST. I think we have a very similar approach to cars, your videos remind me of mine. Keep up the good content. I've considered passing the Prelude on and finding a Del Sol VTEC which brought me here.

I appreciate that a lot man, thank you! I looked at preludes before purchasing the sol. My mother had an 89 si back in the day and sold it not long after I was born. I've always loved all the preludes and would love one one day. But the delsol provides such a different excitement than any other cars I've driven. If you have the chance, I highly recommend getting one. Definitely wait for a nice vtec though. It's what makes this car the fun loving cruiser it is

@scooch9882 жыл бұрын
Depends on how your drive it, also depends on if its highway or stop and go traffic. There were 3 engine options for this car so it also depends which engine you have. I have the b16 and when I was driving it back and forth to work i was doing 82 miles a day. I could get 164 miles out of half a tank which was mostly highway. So id say for your 100 miles you csn do it in a little more than a quarter of a tank

I can drive it hard and it doesn't miss a beat
