I have a 2010 Venza with 135,000 and still runs like a champ. Other than regular maintenance, zero problems in 11 years. Best car I have ever owned. My kids want me to get a Tesla but I tell them every month without a $700 month car payment is more for their college fund. Great having a paid off and reliable car.

One of my top 3 features that Im surprised you did not mention is the keyless entry. The fact that the Venza has a sensor to your key and when in close proximity recognizes it and it opens up and unlocks. It is extremely accurate cool little feature. Even if youre close and someone else tries opening it but does not have the key fob in their pocket it will not open. Oh and it also has keyless locking. Yes! Keyless locking. While the key fob is inyour pocket you can swipe the door handle with your finger and it will lock your doors for you. So you can practically leave your keys in your pocket all day, no need for them in this car as long as you have them on your person. Very cool feature for a 2010!! So many things I love about this vehicle. Mine is a 2010. I absolutely love the Bluetooth feature. How I push start my car on and my music automatically starts to play. Also love the body style and the panoramic moon roof. The trunk is very nice as well. So many nice compartments, handles and places to put things, even the trunk cover is nice. The interior of this car is impeccable. Extremely well thought out and designed. The exterior is not bad as well. I was thinking more of a T-rex or a Triceratops vs a shark lol

I bought my 2011 Venza V6 three months ago in June 2021 with 220,000 miles on it. It somehow still drives like new, the engine is strong, no rattles or dash lights or problems of any kind. The original owner I bought it from was a helicopter pilot who drove regularly from Phoenix to Washington state, so a lot of highway miles. He handed me a 2 inch thick service record which was done at dealerships over 10 years. I read through it, mainly oil changes, 3 windshields, 4 sets of tires and front ball joints about a month before I bought it. The tires are 3 years old and all evenly worn so I don't think it needed ball joints. They don't call them 'stealerships' for nothing. Overall it's a great, but weird car. The shifter is in an odd position and I banged my wrist on it regularly for the first month reaching for things until I got used to it. It gets worse mileage than I'd hoped. The turning radius is pretty wide. The endless bells and chimes for everything is annoying. I've been playing with the settings, trying to get them to quiet down but with little luck. After my last attempt, the power hatch refused to open, it would just beep when I'd push the button on the dash and do nothing with the fob. I reset to factory default and it's working again, but the constant beeps and chimes and horn honking... 😖 The rear video backup screen is so tiny it's practically useless and if the sun shines on the dash, you can't see anything through the glare, but it still works fine otherwise. The Bluetooth connection is the worst I've ever used. It takes forever to figure out how to link your phone then drops it every time you turn off the car. You have to start all over again. I'm tempted to pull the stock head unit out and replace it with something newer, but I'd like to leave it stock. With that said, there's nothing else I have any issues with this car. The front wheels like to peel out with the slightest touch of the throttle so at least it still pulls strong. New, grippy tires would probably help with that. I sold my '17 Tundra for $3k more than I paid for it new in June and bought this Venza for $6500 cash. I've somehow always had good luck buying used cars and trucks with high mileage and few problems, though I've probably just jinxed myself for admitting that. I'm not a mechanic, I'm just anal about quality and can usually spot garbage at first sight. This car was nicely detailed on first sight, so that makes it easy to cover things up. I look at the drivers seat, the pedals, check for anything worn on the inside, the carpets and upholstery, the headliner, passenger door, back seat area and glove box. You can usually spot kids or dogs or rough treatment of the interior that way. Dogs love to tear up door panels and arm rests. Nothing like that here. I also check to see if the tires are matched, evenly worn and even if the date codes are close to each other. (There's a four digit code on every passenger tire sold in the US. First two numbers are the week and 2nd two are the year of manufacture. 4017 would mean 40th week of 2017, for example. I replace my tires at 4 years because Phoenix heat kills rubber and I don't like changing flats in 110 degree temperatures) I usually stick my finger in the tailpipe and if it's black and wet, no thanks. And of course plug in a scanner to check for codes if there's no dents, scratches, if the paint isn't peeling and if I otherwise like the car. I won't look at one that is overpriced and I never low-ball. If I really like the car after all that I'll tell the seller to give me their best price and I'll buy it now. They nearly always come down a bit, but this guy wouldn't which was fine. I handed him cash after checking the title and that was that. He even mailed me the other key fob when he found it and I got it today. The battery was dead so I was looking on KZbin for a video on replacing it, which I found. Then this video started auto playing while I was checking Walmarts website for the battery (2 in stock!). You got me thinking what my impressions were of this car and I like it. I've been driving pickups for over a decade so this is different. I'm not confident I can jump a curb or go off-road to avoid a traffic jam anymore, but it rides quiet and smooth and gets better mileage than my Tundra so I'm happy. Plus it's basically a Toyota Camry (which means it's pretty much the best quality car you can buy) with a hatch back and can tow 3500 lbs, so I can always rent a small trailer if I need a truck bed for something. This car came with the tow prep package (Google 'Toyota VIN decoder' and you'll find what your vehicle came with from the factory by the VIN number). The tow prep package means I just have to install a trailer wiring harness (done) and install the appropriate hitch (on it's way). I don't plan on towing regularly, just small stuff around town if needed. Since it's basically a Camry, I expect to get another 200,000 problem free miles from it, if I keep it that long. My 4 year old Tundra only had 30,000 miles on it so I may not even put 50,000 on it before I get bored and go look for another project. Buying new isn't the best way to spend money, especially on a Toyota. You can get a used one for half the price of new or less and let the original owner take the loss financially. As long as they changed the oil consistently and didn't bang it into curbs or otherwise abuse it, (never buy rentals!) then you have an excellent chance of buying a good used car with no problems that will last longer than most non Toyota new cars will. This is lengthy. Maybe I should record my own review... 🤔

@@JenniferJohnson-fh8fx have it checked out by a good mechanic. I've had three mechanics check mine out over the past two years and none of them can find anything wrong with it other than the rear brakes are now worn out. These cars are tanks. But today I bought a 2014 Venza as I have grand children now and I need car seat safe vehicle my old Camry didn’t come with car seat, tether bolts. I will drive mine anywhere. I also have had error free running since it was new. My wife loved it & I do to. It is a shame that Toyota stopped making this car. I mean its a crossover wagon. Way back Nissan used to call the maxima the 4 door sports car. This Toyota is the ultimate sports wagon that you can load it up & go anywhere. Drive it to work & around town. It's just an awesome car.

Got it used at a Hyundai dealership in 2017 with 22,000 miles on it. It's been nice not to have to go 2 or 3 times a year for repairs as I was accustomed to. I just got a 2012 V6 AWD LTD Venza the other day, I have been thinking about trading in my sporty Scion iM for something older but with more features, but sticking with Toyota. Your review, both the Love & Hate videos, contributed to my decision. I love the car overall. Fuel economy is the largest drawback thus far, going from a CVT 4 cylinder to a AWD V6. In this economy I might be considered crazy, but I was never truly happy with my iM. I have been thinking over the Venza for the better part of a year once I realized what value they are, and your review talking about reliability and features really helped. I have the exact same vehicle. I bought it used and it was not well taken care of by the previous owner. Having said that there were a few issues. 1. The viscous coupler went at about 190km (I am in Canada) that was an expensive fix and it turned out to be a manufacturer defect. It was covered if you had a RAV 4 but not for the Venza or the Lexus RX350. 2. Wheel Bearing (OMG the wheel bearings!) I have replace the fronts twice on them. And so far so good. Apparently its a Toyota Issue. Other than that I had, to change out the Struts at (220KM) and went with KYB. A bit of a stiffer sporty ride which makes it more fun to drive and on the highway its like you are in a Gulfstream Jet. I also went with wider tires 255 instead of 245's went with Toyo Versado's . Great tire handles well corners like a go-kart ,very smooth and they last. Also they look great. People who have Venza's always comment that they like the look and stance of my car but they can't put their figure on it. Then I point out the tires. Its sedate but stylish. Overall I really love this car it has had its issues but its comfortable, performs well in city and highway and looks great when cleaned up. If you are looking for a good car and want to pay cash I would go with this. Also one more thing its has the exact same drive-train as the Lexus

We have a 2013 V6 XLE. Loved the look of the open face 5 spoke 20” wheels as well, interior is nice, has all the tech you really need, like the cellphone holder with cable routing, rear passenger room, ect. Great daily driver! And I love the power of the V6 paired with the 6spd tranny. Handling is good but turning radius is bad.

We bought our 2009 off the show floor, looks identical this car. Bought it when we had babies and 10 years later it’s still rolling. Only at 71k miles. Has aged very well and we didn’t baby the exterior. Same issue with the roof trim. Only issues are the rear suspension is currently making some rumbling noise and the steering column makes a sound in the cold. Good car no regrets. Plan on keeping it a long time. It’s our family truckster!

Enjoy many trouble free miles. My 2010 V6 is at 170,000 miles and running like the day I bought it. It's needed 2 sets of shocks, 2 alternators and 2 batteries over 7 years. The rubber oil cooler line that is known to blow was replaced at 134,000 miles, almost took the engine out with it. Keep an eye on that

We have a 2011 Toyota Camry. lol. We love it, however, we had to purchase it when we moved to the Mexican border and as such, we've had a terrible time with dealership repairs and basic maintenance because most parts had to wait to come from Los Angeles, CA for some reason. We now have moved to TX and are still on the border, where the dealership here doesn't even include topping off the brake and windshield wiper fluids during the routine maintenance checks. On our recent roadtrip home to Tennessee, we made a point to stop in the dealership there and had our 50,000 maintenance done plus fixing a steering wheel popping issue we've had since we bought the car. You guessed it, neither the AZ or TX dealerships ever found, much less "felt" the problem. The TN folks instantly knew what it was and fixed it. Unfortunately for us, it wasn't under warranty and although the issue was a KNOWN RECALL (yep), our serial # didn't fall in line with that and therefore we did have to pay out of pocket. We were just happy to FINALLY get it fixed though. So, that's our love/ hate story with our Camry. lol. Great info on the Venza. I don't remember ever seeing one, but we stick to the boring Camrys. lol.

Got a 2012 XLE AWD V6 and I love it. I can fit a twin-sized air mattress in the back, making it great for camping, and it holds all my stuff for field work during the week. I don't have the navigation package, so the camera being up in the middle and on such a small screen is kind of annoying because it's susceptible to glare. The turning radius is a bit wider than what I am used to, but isn't too bad. It doesn't have the biggest tank, either, so getting 20mpg means about 300 mile range or so (I used to have a car with a 20 gal tank and got 25mpg, so there's a big difference). The ride is a bit bumpy from the low profile tires. It is stylish and well-featured, though. Everyone remarks that it has a lot of room. It climbs up hills very well and has a powerful and robust engine. There are tons of 12v jacks in this car, too - passenger side, trunk, console, and maybe I am forgetting a couple, but you get the idea. The center console having two very deep compartments is handy as well - you can fit a 5th of alcohol in the rear of the center console. The air conditioner takes no time to get the car very cold.

The Venza is been around for number of years already. People don't shop for older-look product much. However, I think the look of it never going to get old. I give the Venza inside and outside look with a 10/10. And I am not sure why Venza isn't well advertised in the States. I guess when people shop for a car, they only have sedan in their mind. Only Camry/Corolla/Civic in their heads when comes to cars. To Brian: Lexus is not a clone of anything. If you notice one thing about Toyota/Lexus that stands out from other manufactures is that each different car has its only design/feel/look to it. You don't find too many parts being shared across board. You won't feel like you are driving a Corolla once you enter a Camry etc. That what makes this Venza so much outstanding than many other models that they have. For example if you've been into a Nissan Rouge, you will notice that it kinda uses the same steeling wheel as the Sendra and some other models. Another reason for the Venza doesn't come with a Lexus badge is prolly just because the build quality isn't there. You get what you pay for out of a Venza. There are many design flaws you can find in a Venza that doesn't meet the Lexus standard. However, most of these aren't big issues when it comes to everyday driving. But then again, I can see myself buying another car like the Venza in coming years if Toyota/Lexus is willing to produce a similar product after the Venza.

My spouse has a 2013 4 cyl. We both love it for the space and comfort BUT: I has the annoying rattle on cold startup that Toyota would repare up to 60,00KM here in Canada. Of course the problem started after that and it's a very costly repair. Won't cause any problem except the horrible loud noise it makes for a few seconds. Unless you want to spend way over $1000, you learn to live with it but will be a concern when trading or selling. So if you are looking for a used Venza, make shure you start it when the ENGIN IS COLD cause many have that problem.

Bought used 2013 AWD Limited two yrs ago, with 72k miles. Replaced the front pads right away. Other than that have done nothing. Super comfortable. Like the 20" wheels. Like the JBL sound system, auto highbeam. Wish it had auto folding sude mirrors and parking proximity sensors (2014+). Overall hope to keep it for a good while. Worst thing about it is the navigation system. Hate it. Many times gives wrong directions. They want $300+ for an update. For older versions '12 and earlier, there are inexpensive updates on DVD available on eBay. But not for this model. Can't enter a destination while vehicle is in motion. Same for Bluetooth - cannot dial a number unless stopped. Stupid.
